9 ~9~

They were still standing in front of me…

-What should we do now?! Said Noah.

-Well! Obviously, Imma take her to a doctor. I don’t know who! but yeah! That’s what we’re gonna do right now!

-I don’t need a doctor! I’m going to be fine in some other couple of minutes. You don’t need to stress about it that much. Noah; you can go do your job. I’m sorry for today. I promise I’ll make it up to you.

-It’s okay Jade. Take your time to heal. But I think it’s a good idea if you go see a specialist. I’m one billion per cent sure that you’ll get better, maybe it was just due to shock or something like that.

-Hope so…

-Alright now… I guess we’re going to close the store for now, or maybe you can stay here while we’re out. He pointed my co-worker. Still need some more time to calm down a bit? Or you feel that you can stand up?

-Actually, I need a moment with her before you two go out. Said pal.

-Oh! Okay. But don’t take too long. Announced our boss, or more like our second father.

-Thank you.

When Arcus went outside to wait, or maybe do something else. I recognized that Noah sat next to me and putted his hand on my shoulder.

-There’s something I wanna tell you, but I dunno whether you’ll like hearing it or not.

I just froze, while being lost in my own thoughts as I listened to every word he said.

-The girl from this morning, before going out. She came to the counter and told me to hand you this necklace. I don’t know what it actually means, but here it is.

He handed it to me and putted it on my lap. I took it between my fingers, and tried imagining it. Yet, how can a blind see colors? Therefore, I asked him to describe it more.

-What color is it? I mumbled.

-I guess it’s a quartz, from its shape. And it’s a dark blue one. It is indeed beautiful. Hope it would help you.

Does she actually remembers me now? What would she give me her own necklace? I held it next to my heart as it pounded in a 120 beat per second. I did not pronounce any more words. Just sat there thinking about her image, her figure, her charm. I should never forget her. Never ever. Even if I cannot see her, her picture will always be engraved in my memory, just like mom’s…

Someone rushed over the room.

-I found a doctor that may help. I just phoned numerous friends that would offer some help. But we got one problem… We need to go out of town for 2days. Declared Arcus.

-I think it’s too much, I’ve already told you guys not to worry much and I’ll gain my eyesight after few days as max.

-It’s not too much at all. Imma go get some supplies for the trip and I’m coming right now to pick you up so you’d arrange your things too from your home.

-Eh…

Before I could say a thing, I could already hear his feet steps getting farther as if he was running in a course.

My colleague then stood up: “imma leave you too for a while, I still have some things to do. Or would you like to sit next to me? Yeah that would be better, so I could keep my sight on you.”

And again, he did not give me a chance to express. Just held my arm and dragged me out of here, settled me on another chair but I guess this time, it is next to the counter; because I could hear the doorbell ring when someone entered the food stall.

“Welcome…” said Noah while placing me in my place.

Yet, he even could not finish his sentence; I did not actually know who it was until I heard…

“Morning handsome boy! What’s with that face?”

He went back to what he was doing without showing his uncomfortableness while she was here.

“Oh! Jade! You’re here too! I didn’t see you at first sorry. But anyways, how’s life?”

I am sure that she is standing near the counter, or else she would not be able to remark whether I was present or not.

-Yeah! Fine. Thank you for asking. I replied while keeping my head down.

-That’s great. Anyways… let’s get back to us Handsome, right?

-There’s no “us” between you and me.

-Oh, c’mon! I know you like me but you’re hiding it. she let a laugh out while he let a sigh out.

I was there sitting frozenly. And listening to every voice that passes near me. Tried reorganizing the place where I was inside my head. Tried drawing lines and imagining every piece of this food stall.

“If I stand up right now and walk forward, I think I’ll bump onto Noah. But if I turn right in a 60°; I think I can go out from the staff place. Okay. We’re good up till now. If I keep walking in the same line without changing my direction, I’ll surely hit some wall or table. I’ll move about six step forward, right?! Is it the right number? Ekkh! Why is it like that?! If only I used to walk and not put those rollers on. Now, I don’t even know how many steps are far from the door, neither anything! This is won’t lead to anywhere!” I whispered to myself.

Suddenly, Noah putted his hand on my shoulder again and this time, he bended over and told me:

-Imma go for a while. As you heard I guess, the witch has come and I need to serve her ‘cause I have no one who would rescue me from all her sorceries. He laughed as I felt a bit uncomfortable, I was the one who normally should help him; but I’m in this state now…

-Hey! Hey! I was just kidding. Don’t worry about me, okay? It’s not your fault. He added.

-Hum… Okay…

-Stay here, I won’t take too long. Alright shorty?!

-I guess Arcus would come here by that time…
