7 Chapter 7: Unending Years

Tirzah decided to inspect the wall they built. It's high enough to prevent the water from leaping and flooding their tiny village and is the width or ambit is enough for a person to sit down. She can see the white hill on top. She spotted an old man walking around with his cane. Tirzah treaked up to the hill and tried to reach out to the old man.

"Good morning." Tirzah hummed as she walked by the old man's side.

The old man grin at her and returned her greetings.

"Like wise Chief. I am trying to witness the sun spread it's ray to the village bit by bit."

Tirzah felt creep out from the old man's cliche statement, maybe because it was not her personality to yearn for something romantic, yet in courtesy she offered a companionship to see what he is talking about.

"Then would you mind, if I join you?"

The old man just grinned at her toothless.

The scene was breath taking it was like the whole place got painted with it's color in slow motion. The sun was like a wings hovering on earth. It was a sense of a whole new world experience. Tirzah learnt that he is the oldest man in the village and was the first ever Chief in Ligament. His name is Eshcol Uz.

Jogli chuckled at how Tirzah reacted about the white hill getting kissed by the ray of sun bit by bit.

"Cheif, Eshcol was there because it was their memorable place with his late wife. In fact, everytime we celebrate the foundation day of Ligament, the program would start by doing that sweet gesture. It was traditioned by his late wife. The first mistress of Ligament."

Tirzah just smiled at how warm that would be and she started to imagine the whole village witnessing the wonder it brings. Tirzah's imagination got cutt off by Mahli's delving.

"Chief, about the project that Mayor Vopshi had task you to do, can I have the lay out?"

Tirzah just laugh a broken sound and maintained a poker face.

"I don't have any."

Mahli started to nag and bug her about it. Trizah can just eye Jogli for help but her vice chief just gave her a thumbs up.

Tirzah jump out from the window to conceal her presence from Mahli's strict monitoring. When she crawled behind the building, she heared a snicker coming from the next office and she saw Elim muffling his laugh as he watch her. When Mahli look out from the window to spot the chief. Tirzah had no choice but to rush toward his building and hid. Tirzah pleaded Elim to shut his mouth but Elim just sneakily made a deal that he will help her out but she needs to join him for a cup of coffee. Mahli is approaching his building and Tirzah had no other option but to agree with Elim.

"Mahli, why are your brows furrowed in annoyance?" Elim asked.

"Well, Pastor our Chief just run away from me and she haven't even started for the next project, by any chance did you noticed where she ventured?"

Elim just shrugg at Mahli. Mahli went to round the village just to look for Tirzah.

Tirzah jump in from Elim's window and landed on his office floor in a cool and manly way. Elim just thought that she looks like a gang leader being chased by cops. Elim decided that it won't be safe to mention his thoughts, and it would be better to shut his mouth. He waited for Tirzah to stood up and waltz her way toward the chair he pulled for her.

Elim brew the almond and soya flavor for her. He sliced the cake he got from her and served it on the table. Tirzah looked up to him in surprise. It's been five days since she had it deliver.

"How come you still have it? I thought you would gobble it up since they say that you love sweets." Tirzah commented. Elim blushed at the mention of his love for sweets. Tirzah inwardly roared to catch on for something she can tease him with.

"Why are you blushing? Was it a big deal to fall in love with sweets?"

Elim covered his face with both of his palm as he twirl the chair back from Tirzah.

"How cute! Men who loves sweets are rare, I can give you some candy." Tirzah successfuly grinned. Elim's been consistent in putting her into the hot seat and now it's her turn.

The next day she waited and watched the same event with Eshcol.Tirzah can't help but express the joy she had witnessed by having the first ever Chief by her side. Just then her assignment with Mahli popped to mind.

"Grandpa, what do you think would be a good project right now that is better than the tree planting?" Tirzah hopefully asked. Eshcol look up at the sky.

"Well, before my wife would suggest that we should established a simple village garden. For the villagers to build in. But seeing the houses and population multiplied that would be unapplicable." Eshcol muttered as he gaze toward the houses crowding all over the place. Tirzah dropped her expectant shoulder. She will be hearing an earful from Mahli today again.

"How about a reading and art place for the children who are passionate enough to create something out of nothing?" Eshcol suddenly suggested as they get by the path way. Tirzah walked the old man home. She waved goodbye in gratitude. She is about to advance a step from Eshcol's cabin when the old man insisted to share a good and warm breakfast.

Tirzah felt bad when she turned down the offer. Eshcol dramatically uttered that it's been long since he is going to share a plate with someone. When Tirzah entered the small cabin. The old man instructed her to roam around the house while he prepare a meal.

She saw a lot of painting and pictures as well as trophy and plaques all over the house. Their wedding photo stood up. It's well kept and maintained. The wife had a baby red hair and black gaze. While Eshcol look the same aside from less hair and teeth. His nude locks and forest eyes felt like you are in the woods. The small cabin from the outside had a lot and significant things from the inside. Their house looks like a box of treasures.
