The End Of Inter High

Interhigh lasted for three days, Sean and I frequented those three days spending hours and hours of watching and observing the games. Making notes on teams that we could make recommendations for us to go to. Not to long ago, our coaches notified us that we would not be able to choose a school that we wanted to attend, but we may put in some schools that we might want to go to. But the decision would be up to the higher ups and those that run this program.

However, they told us that they will put us in the teams that made Top 10 and we would have to go to meet volleyball weekly and do some interviews. But, they would also be choosing a hand full or a couple schools that Sean and I will be going to learn and train with. But those schools have not been released and told to us yet.

Nakamoto had got more information and interviews for me to do partly because I had already lived here before and was a big player in my middle school. Though, I was still upset and not so happy that I might not be able to get into Karasuno or another school like Niiyama.

But as they explained more in depth of this program, Sean and I got a little bummed in some information that they told us.

Though as advanced players and this new program that they set up, we knew that we would go to different school in the prefecture to learn and train with the teams. However, they added some more rules and regulations stating that we wouldn't be able to play in official matches in the schools but could participate in practice matches. Since our focus would be more on learning from them and helping out the schools instead of winning tournaments with us.

I sighed and understood where they came from but they still had to clear up some stuff and give us more information later, was what I was told from Nakamoto as Sean got his info form Chris.

I sighed and stepped out of the bathroom as I found Sean back in our seats back in the stands. I sat down next to him and asked. "So what happened so far?" I asked wondering how the match of Seijoh and Shiratorizawa was going.

He nodded his head at my presence. "Shiratorizawa is racking up points while you were gone, that Ushijima dude has been making hard spikes for them to dig up at times. But Seijoh is also able to put in some plays and attacks as well."

I nod my head and look down to the score board seeing the score. 18-14, with Shiratorizawa in the lead. I sighed and continued to watch looking at each players that were on Shiratorizawa.

'Each person is strong and talented. But overall all of them have power and that #5, I believe Tendo Satori, the middle blocker is quite troublesome for Seijoh to even score a point. He doesn't do any read blocking or regular blocking like the rest of the teams I've seen here do. He rather goes to block on instinct and gut feeling. Guess blocking...' I evaluate the team and look down the court.

'But...the individual that stands out of course is Ushijima Wakatoshi. The Ace and captain of Shiratorizawa. His powerful spikes but also the use of his left hand that puts a different spin on it causes it to be hard for receivers to get it up. But some of them are still able to get it up, however the power makes it hard as well.'

I look down and open up the paper in the pamphlet that had the players names and some information. 'Their setter is a second year instead of the third year....they use him as a pinch server....And they have one first year on the lineup.'

I look back at the court to see the setter set it up to the first year, Goshiki. His spike goes through the block and lands a point. I watch the plays a bit more and see that the team overall has good experience except the whole team relies on Ushijima it seems and support Ushijima. I come to that conclusion.

I focus back on the overall scoring and plays of both teams.

_______

I look down and see the score of 30-27, Shiratorizawa to Seijoh. Shiratorizawa wins the set and the game.

I sigh out looking down at the players. "That was an intense game. I would like to play against Shiratorizawa or Ushijima sometime." Sean says beside me and I nod. "Indeed, I would really like to test out my spike as well and compare them when I'm down in the courts." I say with a huge grin.

I glance over at Sean to see him have the same expression as me. My grin slowly goes away as I see the teams line up and shake the opposite team's hand. "Thank you for the game!"

The respected teams go back to their benches for a quick cool down and line up to thank their audience and team supporters. I get up from my seat and walk over to the edge with Sean behind me, curious on what I was doing.

I clapped along with the fans and said "That was an amazing game. Good job." I used the exact same words as I had before and smiled down at the team as some of Aoba Johsai's cheer squad looked at me.

I looked down a while longer to see Iwaizumi shoot a look at me soon after I had said that. And a couple other players looked up at me. I smile again "Good game Iwaizumi-san. You were amazing along with your teammates." I say seeing that Iwaizumi looked at me with wide eyes. He opened his mouth and nothing left his mouth as he stared at me.

I gave a small bow and another smile before turning away. I walked down the stairs and make my way out of the venue and stretch as I got outside.

"Yo, Sora. Why'd you say that to them? I mean it was fine but other teams you said nothing including your childhoods team." Sean asked with a brow up. I looked forward and started walking to an area where there were bushes and a ledge to sit on.

I hopped on and sat down on it. "Hmm...Well back in middle school, when I was still a 2nd year. You know before I went to the states. My team had just finished our finals and won. But I was curious and wanted to see the boys play." I said and glanced at him as he leaned up against the ledge.

"So, during their final game. It was Kitagawa Daiichi against Shiratorizawa." I say and he looks back at me. "What?! Shiratorizawa had a middle school as well? Did they have Ushijima back then too!?" he asked with wide eyes.

I nodded my head. "Yeah, he attended their middle school as well. But Kitagawa Daiichi players often attend Aoba Johsai after middle school." I say and he nods his head understanding where I'm coming from.

"So you knew the players on Kitagawa Daiichi and they now are on Aoba Johsai?" he says as some players and people exit the venue. I nod my head. "Yeah, I do. I got to know two of them after the game, but we never got to talk much. But we got to know each other a little bit. But you could kinda assume if Kitagawa Daiichi had some of the same players and Ushijima from Shiratorizawa right. It was the same as this match." I say.

He nods his head. "So what you felt bad for Kitagawa and you still feel bad for Seijoh." he says bluntly and I turn my head to look at him with a 'Are you serious face'

I sigh and run a hand through my hair. "No not exactly. Though I came late to watch the match, it was still amazing. It made me feel that I was standing at the edge of my seat and felt the rush of adrenaline even though I had just finished my match. It was intense just like the one we watched. Though, the players on both teams got better and more advanced of course, over the time I was in America."

I continue on "But I had said the exact same words, the first sentence I had said to them. Those were the same words that I had used. And this time it seemed that Iwaizumi heard it too." I chuckle remembering his expression.

"Dang. That's gotta be hard considering trying to beat a team so long and an opponent that you can't seem to beat. But something similar had happened to us before." Sean stated.

I nodded and gave a dry laugh. "Yeah but I remember when we had that one opponent back in America, they were really strong and we always struggled. It would either be them or sometimes us winning. But never really like Seijoh and Shiratorizawa." I say "It's not as bad as those two teams." I say and look up at the sky.

A couple seconds pass by and I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket and pull it out. I open it up and see a message from Nakamoto. "He's here. Let's go we gotta probably talk more about some programs and schools." I say and he sighs out.

"Yeah let's." he replies back as I hop off the ledge and start walking to the parking lot. We walked around the parking lot seeing Nakamoto standing outside of his car. As I look over I see Nakamoto talking with a shorter man. I squint and see the old man wearing a track suit that had the similar colors of Shiratorizawa. As the man turned around I saw the words on the back "Coach of Shiratorizawa". My eyed widened and I stared at them before moving closer.

But before we could make our way over to them and hand was placed on my shoulder. I turned around to see who this person was. I could hear huffs and pants behind me and "A-Akiyama-san?"

I fully turn around to see the spiky haired Ace of Seijoh. I widened my eyes at him. "Yeah that's me." I say and look at him fully. He widens his eyes "R-really, the same girl I met years ago. The Akiyama Sora? The one who also watched our match and talked to Oikawa and I?" he asked unsure if I was the same girl.

I nodded my head and glanced at Sean telling him he could wait over by Nakamoto if he wanted. "Hmm. I'm glad that you still remember me Iwaizumi-san, after all we only met a couple of times though." I say with a small smile on my face.

His eyes widen even more and a small smile comes onto his face. "Y-yeah of course I still remember you. It surprised me and I couldn't really tell from earlier during the hallway incident. Sorry about that, you look albeit different plus I haven't seen you in a while." he said and I chuckled. He continued on "B-but I still remembered hanging out with you and Oikawa and stuff." he said while scratching his cheek.

"No it's fine." I say and wave my hand around. "But, those words you said to me and my team earlier...They were the same exact words that you used before...That's what reminded me and when I saw you..I remembered it. Thanks for your support." He says and bows.

I waved both of my arms around. "No, it's all good. But I would like to play some matches and hit some of Oikawa's sets, the next time we meet or we can organize something in the future if you are still up for that. But good job, you guys improved since the last time I saw you guys. But regardless of the outcome of the match. You guys were really amazing and you all tried your best. The game blew me away, good job." I say and pat him on his shoulder.

I let his shoulder go and give him a big smile. "Sora we gotta go!" I hear Sean yell. I turn around slightly and nod my head at them, letting them know that I was wrapping it up. "Oi Iwaizumi!" I hear some male voices call out from behind Iwaizumi.

I chuckled, "Looks like we both got to go. I'll see you around and it was nice seeing you again! Say hi to Oikawa for me, if he remembers me that is." I tease him and wave goodbye with a smile.

He nods his head. "Sure thing. I'll see you around. Thanks again." he says while bowing again and I start to walk back to the car with Nakamoto and Sean waiting for me.

3rd POV

As Sora walked over to her car and got in. Iwaizumi watched her get in as he still stood their for a while and his teammates called out to him again "Iwaizumi!"

He turned around and called out "Sorry!! I'm coming!" he said as he ran to the team that was waiting for him before they walked farther to their bus. His fellow other third years waited for him there except Oikawa who dragged behind them deep in thought.
