1 Prologue: Tragedy

A girl who wishes to fly. A girl who's dream was cut down and her will to fight slowly dies. All it took was that day. That day which took everything away from her.

***

That day was the start of her misery.

BAM!! CRASH!! Darkness, soon darkness surrounds her. Her eyes seeing the light slowly fade away from her. Hearing screams and commotion everywhere. Blinking lights and shadow figures.

Glass shards scattered everywhere on the street. A tattered car that was wrecked. Blood slowly dripping from her forehead and her body.

Pain. Pain slowly taking over her legs and entire body as she closes her eyes.

***

The time when she wakes up, she is faced with bright lights shinning down on her with mumbling and gasps. She slowly opens her eyes blinking away the sleep. To feel a warm hand hold her's grasping it tightly.

Followed by more mumbling and words that she can't seem to comprehend. She opens her mouth but yet nothing comes out. She closes her eyes yet again to fall into a deep slumber to be later woken up to face her worst fears.

***

"I'm sorry to say but that accident has caused you to lose your legs. Your legs are paralyzed and you'll never be able to walk or play again. This is the end of your career."

These words, that form sentences break her. You can hear the cracks forming. Breaking her inside out. The next words were blocked. All she could process in her mind was 'PaRaLyZeD? EnD of My cArEer? NeVeR to WaLk or PlAy aGaIn?' Those words ring in her head over and over again.

"You have not just been paralyzed but the accident hit your organs in the stomach. We will conduct further tests on you later once you have gained some strength. You might need to have a surgery later on in the future once we have settled things. We'll let you in on further information."

She looks back up hearing those final sentences before the doctor left. A mother and father in the corner of the room, with a sobbing mother with the news. A father comforting her mother.

The girl looks down into her lap and brings her shaking hands to lay in her lap. Staring down as if that was the most interesting thing.

Mind racing, emotions, overwhelming.....

Tears come out flowing down her face, never seemed to stop. Her parents look over at their daughter and rush to her side comforting her. Giving her their full attention.

The tears, come screams and wallows. Filling the hospital room with grief and frustration.

It took her wings. Her wings of flight. She came plummeting down.

***

There the girl sits in the empty room looking out the window. Her eyes dull and devoid of any life and excitement that she once had.

She looked like a doll, an empty doll.

'Knock.' 'Knock'

The girl turns her head towards the door to see her mother carrying a laptop and a music player.

The mother smiles at her daughter.

"How are you feeling?" The mother asks. No response. "I brought some stuff with me. I brought this laptop for you to watch some shows and this music player to play some music when your father and I are not here." The daughter continues to look blankly at her mother and nods head.

The mother places down the laptop on a table and plugs the music player in. Playing some soft music. The daughter turns her head back towards the window watching the clouds move by while the mother comes and brushes and takes care of her daughter.

***

Her teammates, family, and friends come to visit her every so often. Trying to cheer her up and get her back to her energetic, happy, fun self.

Only till a couple weeks later when the girls mother came back to her daughter's room to hear her softly singing the song that was playing in the room.

Singing ever so quietly. Bringing sanity to the girl, letting her vent out her frustrations and grief of losing her wings, her dreams, and her goals.

Each day she would sing out to herself, waiting in her room. Waiting for her next checkup and results.

***

The girl scrolls aimlessly on the internet looking for movies or something to watch now with more life in her.

She stopped scrolling and stared at the screen for a long time. Her hand lifts up to touch the screen. "Volleyball." she says faintly. The girl looks down at her legs and clicks on the screen.

A male jumps up high, a crow with a gush of mind blows towards a young orange haired boy. His mouth open looking at the screen of a volleyball game in awe.

Her mouth opens and closes. Watching the show with closed fists. "That folks, was the tiny giant!"

The story continues on, followed by a time skip with the same orange haired boy running through the building and looking out onto the courts.

"Its huge!" the boy takes a sniff of the air "It smells like air salon pas!" Her mouth twitches slightly at the dorky comment. Making her remember the smell of the gymnasium.

Another group called Kitagawa Daiichi comes into the gym making their way intimidating other teams. For that this orange head's newbie team were to face a team full of tall and experienced players.

Throughout the match, the little orange haired boy named Hinata Shoyo, was filled with surprises. Even she had her mouth open agape and eyes widened. "He never gives up. Keeps on getting up and pushing through, no matter the circumstance and wall that blocks his view." She says to herself.

"Maybe just maybe....I can fly again and jump up to see the summit just like this." She lifts her hand up and touches the screen where the volleyball is and smiles slightly when she sees Hinata jump.

"Just maybe, life will give me a chance."

"It seems that your condition is better, we have gotten back test results and monitored you as well. We have found that your organ is having trouble functioning do to the impact that you took. We had it monitored to see if it would take a turn for a better or worse but it seems the organ can not be left that way." the doctor informs the family and the girl.

"What do you mean!? Will she need surgery?" The mother asks worriedly. The father puts his hand on his wife's shoulder while the mother holds onto the daughter hands.

The doctor nods "I'm afraid so. However there will be risks in this surgery." The girl looks down in her lap and grits her teeth. 'I-I finally was able to get a little better. I was finally able to enjoy some things that I used to, I was able to see light and fun in things. I was finally turning back to my normal self! Not just my legs but my organ!'

The girl zones out on what the doctor says next, while her parents listen attentively. The girl looks back up to see her mother crying while holding her hand tighter and her father looking stressed and upset. 'Why?' the girl thinks.

***

It was just one word.

'Fly'

That one word which whisked her away, taking her to dreams and goals. Brought her strength and will.

But yet that word vanished from her. Never will that word come back to her life.

Well it won't ever come back to her in this life. For fate has a thing or two in store for this girl.
