Their Meeting (11)

She looked up to the face of man whose arms were wrapped around her shoulder. She held her phone on one hand and gently pulled herself away lifting his arm from her shoulder.

"I'll take this call. Speaking of the angel." she said then placed his hand on the backrest of the bench. He smiled and nodded but his face went downcast upon seeing her delighted face as she turned her back to take the call.

"Stan! how are you? So sorry I wasn't able to call you back immediately. I'm in the middle of something here."

"No, no, it's okay, it's my off today. Work is fine so far. How's yours ? I heard you're working for a construction company at B City! How is it?"

"Oh good! Actually, we can start our own firm right? Ha ha! I'll design the building and you do the building...how does that sound?"

"Ha ha! Your mind is really advanced! But I have yet to imagine how our kids would look like! Will they be as smart and tall and brilliant as we are?"

"Ha ha ha, wait wait! Please stop that Stan. Your mind is always advanced as your numbers! Why don't you divert that mind to wooing a pretty lady? I'm sure it will not take you long to catch one!"

"Hehhh! You asked my father, so marry my father, not me!"

Fem talked on the phone as the man listened behind her. He listened to every word she said and he almost can tell what the other speaker on the other line was saying. Their coversation went from 'how are you? to bye, see you soon!' before she hung up. He didn't hear her mention that she was with him this time though.

The truth was, she almost told Stanley that she is in the middle of a date with Mark. As sensible as she is though, she didn't want Stanley to be hurt or assume that she is biased so she just diverted the topic to hint him about finding a girl suited for him. Stanley however is as stubborn as she is. He knows what he wants and it would take real hard thinking to persuade him. He pleaded for her to come and settle matters with a hope that they will be together now that they have good jobs or start their own firm...yes that was his dream! To develop his ancestral land without giving it to any outsiders! It's such an irony that the girl she loves happen to be his cousin and who is now in love with a wealthy man with powerful background. Although he knew the possibility, he was not yet about to give up. He wants to prove to her how he loved her from the day he saw her in her school uniform.

Back during school time, when he discovered that his cousin took Architecture as her course, he shifted from Geodetic Engineering to Civil Engineering. This explains why they came to be batchmates instead of him being ahead for two years.

His plan was to work with her after they graduated. He knew that she is an outstanding student and so he was confident that she will finish her course with flying colors. This proved indeed true. They graduated together garnering the two top degree awards.

Now is the time to make his dream come true!

As of this time however, he needs to build his career. He needs to learn as much as he could from prestigious firms at the same time earn some money to grease his way to his dream. He would build homes and connect bridges for unrelated people. Make sure his work will not be substandardized as many engineers do to their projects just to earn more commission from the alloted budget.

Somehow, he knew Engineer Lester who had been supervising the development in Mount Sleeping Beauty was a good man. He observed the quality of his work and it pleased him. As a student, he has been idealistic in his observation. That's why when he saw that the projects being constructed were good to his expectations, he did not harbor any bad feelings towards the 'drunken engineer' as he would call. He respected him despite knowing the fact that he was his cousin's first boyfriend. So what? He cannot blame him. After all, his cousin is such a beauty!

Mark coughed a little. "You sound to be planning your life together with your cousin." he said with a bit of knitted eyebrow.

"It's how the mind of the Laws work ,Mark! Does that bother you!" She raised her chin to check his facial expression.

"What? Am I not being obvious? He is your cousin already, why do you need to marry him?" His slightly knitted eyebrows all the more turned into wrinkles.

"Who said I will marry him? I'm not marrying anyone yet! I'll still need to design my home first, okay?" She said amused at his wrinkled forehead.

"This sweetheart! I cannot spell your beautiful mind really! That's why I love you!" He said pulling her to himself.

"Ouch! " She said struggling to block his chest with her hands but she ended touching his firm and mascular chest. Surprisingly, she felt warm and comfortable while he held her there.

"Yeah, you're not marrying anyone, except Mark Arevalo." He said as he kissed her head.
