His Life Without Her (15)

The hike going back to the highway was so pleasant and relaxing. I took several photos of the panoramic view of the sunrise and towards the sunset from the viewpoint of the mountain. We inspected the rest house which was under construction. Assessing the progress of work, this could be finished within a maximum of two months plus the interiors which may take another half month. Not bad! I hope by that time, I will be able to settle my issues with my love.

From the viewpoint, we could see the cranes and the halfway constructed skyscraper at the foot of the mountain.

We proceeded to descend down the mountain to the highway where I parked my car. About 45 minutes of enjoyable downhill jogging, we reached the highway. It was already nine o'clock. We sat down to rest for a while then drove back to B City.

"I can't really spell Mr. Law's mind!. " Dan exclaimed after we hopped into my Land Rover Discovery.

"He taunted you like you were an idiot, right? Good for you!" I laughed as I started the engine.

"Not about that though! He seems to be so nice to everyone. I guess even if you have a dozen or so romantic rivals, he will treat them all well. Aren't you worried?" Dan sounded alarmed.

"Atleast he is fair. He doesn't manipulate his daughter's choice. That's why I need to double work." I said not giving much thought.

"Right, he can be a good politician. He really knows how to please everybody. But I like his straightforwardness." Dan said.

I drove fast as we discussed the details of the on-going projects. We stopped by the Line Bridge to take a photo of the beautiful scene then continued our way until we reached a small eatery several road curves away from the bridge. We stopped to have early lunch. While we were eating, I received a call from Sunny.

"Boss, she rode a chartered bus with a bunch of voters bound to KB Town. The bus will come back tonight. They were instructed to watch the poll in their own local towns" Dan informed over the phone.

KB town is the town next after BB village. This village is actually the boundary of two neighboring towns. KP town and KB town are almost twin towns whose people intermingle with each other through trade and education. Many of KB town students are attending classes at the NPU. Also the passenger busses bound for KP town have to pass by KB town. I originally planned to apply for a franchise bus route here but I set it aside when my brother acquired the Brent's and I was busy with my promotion. Perhaps now, I can discuss this matter with my brother.

"So have they departed already?" I asked.

"Yes boss, about ten minutes ago" Sunny replied.

"Anything else? Are you following her?" I asked.

"Boss, I also need to vote. I can't follow her now."

"Alright then."

If we are going to meet on the highway, what should I do? Can I just stop the bus and snatch her out? Would I not frighten her all the more?

Yeah, right. I need to be careful now that she despises me. From having advanced about 50% before, I have fallen down to a far negative 50%. It wasn't her fault. I could only blame myself for not having done enough. Had I been too lax? But then, there's still the rival factor. I couldn't really act solely without first winning my love's sweet Yes! again.

"Shall we go now?" Dan rose up from his seat.

"I'm thinking if we could wait for the chartered bus here. I want to see her. I hope the bus will stop over here." I replied.

"You're really desperate!" Dan said under his voice.

Thinking it through, I thought of the possibility that the chartered bus might not stop over. I trust that she will go home and talk to her parents.

"Let's go then. I might send you back to the Law's some other time." I said as I rose from my seat.

"I'll love to! As long as there's a jar of rice wine!" Dan said in delight.

"You can really exchange everything for wine! You're being simplistic!" I told him.

"I'm just taking life easy. Work and live. Enjoy opportunities! It's that simple!" He grinned.

"You mean that includes your fooling?" I raised my brows to him.

"That, I really didn't want to do it but we were drunk last time and she took advantage of my drunkenness. I'm confused what to do with her." Dan confided.

"You're being careless! " I said then shut my mouth. Things are really differently difficult when it comes to matters like this. It's not like work.
