Her Strange Dream

I held this tiny baby in my arms, confused of what to do. There are so many things I wanted to do in life that I have yet to achieve. I cannot be tied down by this baby alone. But whom will I entrust her? She's so adorable and precious too! The more I looked at her, the more I felt confused. I'm torn between keeping her and entrusting her to someone. But who can take care of her?

I looked up and saw a man standing tall and mighty. His eyes was lovingly fixed on me as I slowly rocked this baby in my arms. 'He must be your dad' I whispered silently to the baby's ears then planting a kiss on her forehead. 'You need to go to daddy first, mommy will come back soon. I just need to do something." I continued to whisper as I held this tiny angel close to my cheek.

I slowly rose up and held out my arms to pass this baby to the man infront of me. "Here, please take care of her first. She's yours. I need to go." I said not finding the strength to look up.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Take care of her, I will come back soon. I have a lot of things I need to do." I said still looking down as tears started to fall from my blurry eyes.

"Why do you need to go? What am I to you?Am I not enough?" He asked deeply but there was an evident anger in his voice.

"You are the sun that pushes away the darkness in me, the light that gives me hope when all else turns weary. You are my love, my one and only. Yet I need to find myself first so that I can love you freely." I trembled with his deep and cold voice yet found the last courage to embrace and kiss him goodbye before I walked away.

My heart was heavy as I walked away. I wanted to turn and run back to him but I needed to sacrifice to find myself, for the sake of my family and for my future. I walked as fast as I could until I found a huge tree trunk where I leaned and cried painfully. My heart felt like it was being squeezed and my throat felt already dry.

...

I woke up hearing myself sobbing and my throat very dry and painful. My heart was so heavy that I could hardly breath. I quickly removed my blanket covering my upper body and inhaled big gasps of air. I got up to switch on the light, but when I looked at the clock, it was only two o'clock in the morning of Friday.

What a dream! Where did I get that baby? and gave her away? And the man... it was Mark! I gave her to Mark? What? " What a ridiculous dream... but it felt so real!" I thought. I sat down on my chair to shake off the feeling before I switched off the light to continue sleeping again. I need to get good sleep for tomorrows strenuous activity.

It was Friday and we were scheduled to present our individual drafts. The different perspective angles and the floor plans. The next class was a group work on case studies, the next was a debate between groups, next was counseling. With all these, one might never know what she'll end up doing after graduation. Everything seems to be thoroughly emphasized.

It was now the first Friday of February. How time flies like an arrow! But I was glad I am surviving somehow. Just less than three more months and the school year ends.

I felt very exhausted when I and my friends reached my boarding house. We sat down at the bench infront of auntie Ely's store. We all felt tensed due to the day's class happenings. Our joking and teasing however were never forgotten. We always made sure we found something to laugh about.

"Fem, this just came today." Auntie Ely handed me a letter.

"Whoooohooooo!!!" My friends all cheered.

"Who's that from? Is that a love letter?" Sarah asked.

"Oh, I'm getting jealous already." Stanley turned his head away.

"I never knew you are accepting letters, now I know what to do!" Jimmy jumped from the bench and sneered.

"Read it out now, we did not know you are keeping secrets all this time." Tess tapped my back.

"You guys, why do you all sound like I'm obliged to tell you my personal affairs." I said.

"But you are not having an affair with someone, right?" Stanley caught my word.

"No, I mean my personal life! As if I needed your approval!" I got down from the bench and approached auntie Ely.

"Auntie, please tell them what they wanted to know!" I said laughing.

"Which one?"Auntie Ely said with a grin.

"Ha? Which one? How many are they?" Jimmy blurted out like surprised.

"Hahahha, Stanley, did you hear that? Use your maths genius and calculate them." Tess' laughter was now uncontrollable. She was twisting her waist while holding her tummy.

" I died." Stanley said as he slumped his back on the bench.

"Did you not know about Engr. Lester over there? And there was a tall and handsome man who came inspecting the roadworks before?" Auntie Ely raised her brows.

"Auntie!!!" I panicked as I did not expect her to actually spill those out.

"Arrrgghhhh!!! Fem, bury me already. I died twice!" Stanley said closing his eyes while swallowing hard. I thought I saw his face turned sour.

"No, no, dont die yet Stan. We still need you in class! " I said looking at his almost serious face. I took note of it.

"I heard about that Engr. Lester but that highway inspector, who is he?" Sarah asked.

"Heehhh! Since when did I become a celebrity? Shut up! That Inspector, who knows? I didnt even meet him!" I kind of lied.

They all went home after our bantering and I went upstairs to my room. Cooked, took a bath, had dinner then sat down to study.
