1 Chapter 1.

"I'm loving the theme of this!" Tara burst into the room, dress in hand.

"You've got Paul to dance with. I'm going to be sat on my own all night Tara." Jess fixed her gaze on her bubbly best friend.

"You forget, you are going to look stunning in the dress I got for you." Tara made her way over and sat next to Jess at the dressing table. "I also have a surprise for you, Paul might be bringing a friend." To this; Jess just smiled. She knew there was no deterring Tara when she set her mind to something. Unfortunately for her, that something was finding someone for Jess.

After a couple hours of laughing and getting ready, the two stood in front of the mirror. Tara wore a teal corset dress. Obviously one that was extremely voluminous. It suited her, the pale colour of the dress perfectly complimented her tanned complexion. Her hair draped in curls down her shoulder, filled with small glimmers of gems, strategically placed throughout. Jess stood in the black heels (provided by none other than Tara.) In all honesty; she was amazed with the results. The make-up made her eyes pop, the green looked like emeralds, glimmering in the fading sun. Her hair ran straight and ended far down her back. Flowing like honey, down the black gown she wore. It wasn't as large or extravagant as Tara's, but it looked perfect. The sleeves, draped off her shoulders.

The doors opened and Tara and Paul walked down the large staircase that lead to the centre of the room. All heads turned when they noticed the new arrivals. Among all the faces; there was one that stood out. Mesmerised by the very sight. Luke couldn't help but admire as Jess walked down the steps. The trance was broken when he saw her arm intertwined with another. His eyes moved steadily across till they met the mystery man who's arm was attached to the beautiful girl he so wished to be with.

The two began to dance alongside Tara and Paul. They waltzed and twirled in the centre of the room, surrounded by other couples. Eventually; Jess felt a hand on her shoulder. Unsurprisingly, it was Paul. "I'm going to get Tara a drink, did you want anything?" His voice was barely audible over the loud music playing.

"Just grab me a glass of something you know I like." She shouted back in response before Paul nodded towards Josh, (Jesse's date). The two walked away, Tara filling their spot. The girls continued to dance, Tara swarming Jess with questions about how things are going with Josh. He's actually quite nice, not too sore on the eyes either if you know what I mean." Both began to laugh together as the guys came back with drinks.

Josh handed Jess her glass, without hesitation she took a sip. Not minutes later; the lights in the room began to dim, followed by slower music. Instinctively, some couples left the floor, while others came over. Jess and Josh started to walk over to a table. They weaved through pairs, sprawled out over the dance floor. As they reached the table, Jess began to stumble. Being caught by Josh. "Are you alright?" he held her up, making sure she didn't crash to the floor.

"I'm fine, I think I just need some air." Josh began to lead her to the doors, as the doors closed behind them, she fell to the ground.

The music echoed through the corridor, her body felt limp, she wasn't on her feet anymore. She was being carried down the hall, barely able to open her eyes. She finally peeled them open and was struck by confusion. Josh didn't look to be startled or concerned, infact he looked pleased. Jess tried so hard to call for help, to stop him, but she couldn't move. She knew what was going to happen. She knew that there was nothing she could do about it now. They reached a bedroom after a couple of minutes, Josh placed her down on the bed before going to lock the door. As he made his way back over to her, lay helplessly on the bed, there was a knock at the door. He huffed but made no move to answer it. Moments passed which felt like hours to the both of them. There wasn't anymore knocking.

When it appeared to be just the two or them again, Josh continued round the room. Unbuttoning his shirt. Removing his belt. Making his way round to her. Jess followed his every move; her eyes darting round the room. He sat at the end of the began began to remove the black heels. Moving his way up her leg. Jess couldn't help but begin to cry. With in seconds of this noise, there was a large bang, followed by shouting. Josh quickly got up and went to look for where the commotion was coming from. as ge opened the bedroom door, he was knocked down to the floor. Jess felt a breath of relief spread throughout her body that she didn't even realise she was holding in. Stood in the doorway was Luke. His before gelled back hair was now messy and hung down over his face. his tie sat round his neck, undone. His deep blue eyes, shadowed with rage. Josh wasn't a shirt guy, but as he stood to meet Luke's gaze, he looked simply miniscule. "Hey man, you can't be in here!" Josh attempted to knock Luke backwards, failing miserably. Luke simply pushed straight past him; he made his way over to Jess. "Are you okay?" She tried her best to respond or nod, anything. But once again, nothing happened. With that, she was scooped up into his arms and carried out of the room, followed by a very aggressive Josh. Luke didn't even bat an eyelid at the tantrum being thrown behind him. He just continued to walk out of the building. He lay Jess in the back seat of his car. "You're safe now, I'm taking you to the hospital. I have no idea what he slipped you." He closed the door and made his way to the drivers seat.

Once they arrived at the hospital, Jess was placed on a bed. A nurse explained that they needed to do some tests and began to wheel the bed down the corridor. It had been nearly an hour before the nurse came back out. "She's finished with tests for now, you can go in if you want." Luke hadn't left the waiting room, even to get a drink. He instantly stood, thanking the nurse for everything before heading in the room. His heart sunk when he saw her red eyes. She lay on her side, curled into a small ball. He didn't truly understand the days events but he did understand that he couldn't leave her alone. Not now. "Thankyou." a small, soft voice interrupted his thoughts. He looked back up, Jess was now sitting herself up in the hospital bed. "Are you okay? Did he?..." His voice trailed off as he thought of her being hurt. "no, no. You stopped him before he could." She grabbed his hand and gestured for him to sit down. "Hey, Luke..." She avoided his eyes, opting to fix her gaze on the his hand. (which was still holding onto hers). "Yes?" His voice was patient and sympathetic. "Would you stay with me?" She now met his eyes, blushing slightly. "I mean... you don't have to. never mind, I shouldn't have as-" She was cut off by Luke. "Jess, of course I'll stay with you."
