1 Prologue

"—so, in conclusion, the paradox between one world and another signified its—augh!"

Cade bashed his head yet again on his keyboard, like the last seven times. He had been stuck in this thesis report for almost two weeks and has yet to make have it done within the deadline.

A deadline which will be in two days.

He groaned out of frustration. How was making a report about alternate worlds and realities so hard!?

Pulling himself up to the backrest of his seat, tipping his head up, and dragging his fingers along his brown hair, he took a deep breath. His blue eyes gazed on the ceiling as his mind wanders about.

"This is what I get for picking that topic,"

He looked back at the screen splaying his theory of his chosen topic. It had taken a lot of his brain juice the past few days. He sighed and straightened his position. He moved his fingers back to the keyboard and started tapping in his conclusion.

He soon stopped, stared at his work, and sighed.

"Well, as long as I have something to give, it is good enough,"

He looked around his room in contemplation. He let out a small smile at everything around him.

If there is one thing Cade loves the most next to his 'family', it's the very thing that was the inspiration (in which he inwardly regretted a bit) to his report: Pokémon. His room displayed numbers of posters on the walls, plush toys of his many favorite Pokémon (especially a Marshadow one) on his shelves, pretty much his room was adorn with Pokémon.

Looking at his Hoothoot clock, it was already nine in the evening. He closed his laptop after saving his thesis and stood from his chair. He walked to his bed and laid there while placing the cover over himself. Flicking off the light switch beside him, leaving a little blue Minior lamp glowing in the dark.

With his arms on the back of his head, he gazes back at the ceiling. His mind wandered this time to the world of Pokémon. It had been a big dream to him to not only be in the Pokémon world, but to go on a journey like his number one idol; a boy that goes by the name Ash Ketchum. Cade had seen Ash as a model figure, an idol, despite his disapproval to the character's changes since the Sun and Moon series.

He had always wondered, 'What would it be like to go on a journey like Ash's?'. Who knows? He might meet Ash's partner and best friend, Pikachu.

Of course, he shook of the thought. Not because it was silly, but it was an impossible thing to wish for. He had seen those japanese and both english subtitled and voice dubbed 'isekai' stories and to say the least, some who woke up as their fave main characters are idiots for being excited.

His eyelids soon slowly dropped heavily and shut as he succumb to the world of slumber. Peaceful silence soon filled the room, with the night lamp illuminating in the night. The shadows stilled and never bothers him as the night goes on.

One shadow, however, continues to watch him behind a plushy, irises of red and orange and pupils of yellow staring in the dark…
