4 Beastkin? Part 1

It's been about a month since Mimin was taken in by us Silverwolves and White Foxes in this Forest of Magic.

Ah, yes. This forest that us Silverwolves and White Foxes reside in has an abundance of magic, and is therefore known as the Forest of Magic. We live in the deepest parts of the Forest of Magic, around the center of the entire forest. It also happens to be where magic is the most dense in the Forest of Magic.

For now, she's being treated as a human instead of a Silverwolf or White Fox by everyone. Well, she is a human anyways. She doesn't have the fur, tail, or ears that are characteristics of Beasts. She is just a human, no matter how you look at her.

Well, there is one strange thing about her, which is that she doesn't have ears, unlike normal humans. As such, not many Silverwolves and White Foxes dare to approach her, with the exception of my group and the Elders.

Mimin's (mostly) human appearances aside, she doesn't act quite like a human baby should. Recently, she's rarely been crying unless she's hungry, or she's injured herself.

From my memories, human babies normally cry much more than this, such as when they are seeking attention from adults, when they're sleepy, when they're fed too much, and so on. There's many reasons human babies cry, but Mimin's not like that.

Oh, excuse me, where are my manners! I forgot to introduce myself! I'm the male Silverwolf of the group responsible for raising Mimin. I don't have a name, since Silverwolves are able to communicate using telepathy, and we don't need names to refer to someone. I'm about as big in size as a horse, around 1.5 m tall, so I think I'm about... 300 years old? That sounds about right.

Silverwolves steadily grow in size for about their first 10 years, until they're similar in size to grey wolves, around 60 cm tall, at which point they stop growing in size. Then, at 100 years, and every 100 years in their lives, Silverwolves will suddenly grow in size overnight.

Ah, the common units of measuring length is cm, m, and km. 1 km is 1000 m, and 1 m is 100 cm.

Mm? How do we, Silverwolves and White Foxes, know how to raise a human? Well, aside from telepathy, we have the innate ability to read the memories of others. We get our knowledge from humans who attacked us in the past. We, Silverwolves and White Foxes, have a general agreement that reading memories is rude, so we normally don't use it. But if we're going to kill the humans, or anything, who attacked us first, we might as well take their memories, if we want to.

Anyway, back to the current topic. Mimin is far too abnormal of a human child. Especially her lack of ears. Doesn't that mean she's unable to hear sounds in her entire life? Well, it doesn't really matter for us Silverwolves and White Foxes, since we are unable to talk to Mimin anyways.

Now that I think about it, how are we supposed to communicate with Mimin? She's a human, and not a Beast or beastkin, so she doesn't have telepathy like us. Communication is going to be a slight problem...

Oh, right. I should mention that she is drinking milk for her meals, as she is a human child. The female Silverwolf in my group feeds Mimin during the afternoon, and the female White Fox in my group feeds Mimin during evening. For the past month, that's Mimin's diet, and we plan to continue with it until she's old enough.

We weren't quite sure whether it's fine to feed Beasts' milk to a human child, since the memories we've taken doesn't mention such things. But what else are we supposed to feed her?

(Hey~! Can you hear me~!?)

I'm suddenly interrupted by the female Silverwolf of my group. It's currently afternoon, so she's probably with Mimin now.

(Yes, yes, I can hear you, so quiet down a litlle. You're using telepathy, but you're still shouting really loudly-)

(-That isn't important right now! Where are you!? Come as soon as possible, I'm with the Elders and the White Foxes of our group!)

(Alright, I get it. Geez.)

What's she shouting for all of a sudden? I make my way over to the open space with the hill, as it's the place the Elders are usually at. I already gave up on getting her to stop shouting in her telepathy.

----------

(What...)

As expected, Mimin is with the female Silverwolf during the afternoon. What I didn't expect, is seeing Mimin who has significantly changed just overnight.

She now has small furry ears and a short furry tail, and she's grown hair down to her shoulders. The sight of a one month old human child with long hair is unusual, from the humans' memories.

Her ears and tail are those of a White Fox, but the fur colour is similar to the Silverwolf. Except, unlike a Silverwolf's grey fur which can be easily mistaken as a grey wolf's, she has fur that seems to shine under the sunlight. That fur colour is similar to that of polished silver, and radiates beauty that is further complemented by her hair of the same colour.

Even if Mimin is covered in dirt, she will still attract others to stare at her in awe, admiration, and probably jealousy.

(Beautiful...)

I find myself thinking that after staring at her. I was referring to the fur, and not Mimin herself! Don't misunderstand!

(Are you done staring at Mimin? If so, we shall proceed with this meeting. It's about her change from a human to a beastkin.)

Beastkin... Yeah, I suppose that's what Mimin is now. She's no longer a human, it seems.

Just when I was thinking about a way to communicate with the human Mimin in the future, she becomes a beastkin. How convenient.
