2 Experiment

There were two men standing on the rooftop over an abandoned area. Unlike any other archetypal individual, they looked as though they were cosplaying superheroes from a low-budget television show. Or, at least, that is how it would have seemed at first glance. Though, if you were to have another look at it, you would discern that it is much more detailed than that.

The male standing to the right was much tenser than he should have been, wearing a dark blue scissors tail suit and a black cape, which was now flowing with the wind that seemed to come out of nowhere. The pants of his suit were also black, just thought I should throw that in there. Apart from all this, he wore a white cat mask that had a diamond, spade, clubs, and clover drawn onto it, like the ones you would find on a deck of cards. They also seemed to be laid out in the shape of a diamond as well. The sun seemed to reflect on his mask as well as his bright green hair, which seemed to fall and cover most of the man's right side of the mask.

On the contrary, the man standing to the left was far more relaxed, and maybe even a bit excited, which was a new look for the male in question. He wore the same odd onesie that he had worn for the beginning of his whole superhero thing, though it had the addition of red combat boots with green laces. It was simple, yes. But it would likely get more complex over time.

"So, uh, what are we doing here exactly?" Marvin questioned; nervousness clear in his voice. He cleared his throat awkwardly, in a failed attempt to calm his nerves. Jack turned over to look at Marvin, ignoring the visible discomfort, and answered his question. "You see that building over there?" He questioned, pointing over to an old warehouse that looked as though it would collapse if you breathed onto it too hard. Marvin looked over in that direction, seeing the building. He nodded slowly, looking back at Jack with a puzzled look, "Yes?"

"We're going to blow it up." He finished casually, as though this was a common occurrence, which to Marvin's knowledge, was not. His eyes widened as he stared at his brother, face turning into one of disbelief. This was NOT the Jack he knew, so what happened?

"We're going to do what." Jack would have repeated himself; though he noticed that it was a statement rather than a question. He also swore that he heard a hint of venom in his voice, so he was not going to play around with it. "Don't worry about it, you don't have to do anything."

Marvin could not believe him; sure, he was told about how the other had lost interest in saving people, which is fine, but he had not said anything on his current interest to blow things up. He seemed to do a complete 180 from what he was doing previously. It was quite sudden, in Marvin's opinion. Though at least, it was an abandoned building, and he could only be grateful for that.

Dropping his venomous attitude, he let out a sigh and merely looked back at the empty spot where Jack previously stood. Wait, wasn't he there before?

He moved back a little in surprise as he found that Jack was gone. How could someone like him move so quietly? Yes, he knew of Jacks' powers, but he also knew that the other male was not fond of them, and thus, never used them. To him, it was much more of a nuisance than a help. Therefore, he tended to use things that would help him without the use of powers. Little gadget things that he made.

He looked around from where he stood and finally noticed that this part of town was rather old and run down. Most of the buildings looked as though they would drop any second, the road was cracked and had an odd number of potholes. It would not really matter if they did this, did it? No matter, he was still curious as to where the other was.

It took a bit, but he eventually spotted Jack a couple of feet away from the building they were looking at a while ago. Marvin looked around a bit, wondering what the best option to get down would be. Eventually, he opted for just going down the fire escape at the end of the building, it was rather old and rusty, but it would do.

He was rather cautious as he went down, worried that it would give out under him. All the creaking that came from under Marvin's weight was not reassuring in the slightest. Thankfully, it did not, and he made his way over to the other, who was standing rather still, staring blankly at the building in front of him.

"Took you long enough." Jack did not move a muscle, not even turning to look at the male that was now next to him. Marvin sighed and ran his hand through his already messy hair. "Yeah, I took the fire escape, though I wouldn't say I took that long." Marvin now had his arms folded and only seemed to spare Jack a glance before turning back to the building, that admittedly, he was just taking in for the first time since they got there.

Most of the windows were broken, shattered even, and it looked rather rundown but seemed to be in a rather good condition. That meaning that the buildings were still standing despite the fading dirty paint, and some non-broken windows that were boarded up. Marvin could not help but wonder what happened to the area for the need for everyone to evacuate. Or at least that is how it seemed.

"Hey, do you know anything about this area?" This question seemed to catch Jack off guard as his head snapped in Marvin's direction. It was surprising honestly, that Marvin would care what happened here, though, it made sense. You can not just take someone to a random location without them being a bit curious. "For it to be in this condition?" Marvin now turned to face Jack, for the second time today, his hands falling to his side.

Jack thought for a couple seconds, he knew a bit of what happened; though if he believed it, was another question. "I don't know much, but I'll let you know when I have more information." Marvin merely hummed in response, seemingly satisfied with the answer he was given, turning his attention back to the building be began to wonder how this whole 'blowing it up' thing was going to work.

Jack mimicked the others movement before he began hearing a ticking sound. It was faint, yes, but it was there. Seemingly unworried, he turned back to Mavin, noticing that he had yet to hear the ticking, a slight smile tugging his lips. "I suggest that we move to the end of the street." One of Marvin's eyebrows rose, just a little bit as he glanced towards the other, a slight look of confusion present. Nonetheless, he let his hands fall to his side before turning to the left and began walking that way.

Jack followed suit, waiting for the inevitable 'bang' of the buildings as they came crashing down. Or, well, building. Only one was rigged but he figured that the surrounding ones would quickly follow. Once they were far enough out that they would not be affected, he signaled for Marvin to stop and turn back around.

As if a stroke of luck, the second Jack turned around the explosives went off and the building came crashing down. As well as a couple others, just as he predicted. He turned to look at Marvin, who was behind him, only to see him covering his ears with his eyes tightly closed. That would help to tune out the crashing, yes, but not the ringing.

It took him a minute, but he eventually closed his eyes as well and turned around. He had done this to protect himself from the upcoming cloud of dust. They had not gone far enough to get out of the range for that, the two were only to the end of the street, seven houses down? He couldn't remember.

Though it took a while, the dust eventually cleared enough for both to see. Opening his eyes and turning back around, Jack found nothing, but a pile of rubble left in the building's place. He let a victorious smile cover his face as he glanced behind him, wondering what Marvin's reaction to all this was.

Marvin could be seen staring blankly at the remains of the building, not a bit of emotion present. This was surprising to Jack, mainly because he expected Marvin to be upset at the building's collapse or something like that. Though it did make sense why this was so; Marvin only made that face when he did not know what to say, or when something truly unbelievable happened.

"You alright Marvin?" Jack questioned, more out of politeness than actual care. Though, he was almost certain he already knew the answer. He watched as Marvin looked over briefly before his eyes began darting around the area before landing on the ground, where they stayed as he answered. "Yeah, fine." Jack figured that the other could not bear to look at him after what just happened. Which he deserved, in all fairness.

Although Jack could tell that the other was lying; he didn't bother to question him further on the topic, knowing that if Marvin had something to say, he would let it out eventually.
