Elemental Runes

Dean wake up early, too excited to learn new stuff about magic.

Magic start to be taught thirteen years ago when the 2 first gate appear, the gate of the wondrous world and the Elven realm gate; month by month new gate appear to finally stop at six gate. No need to say the speed of the appearance made the Human world fall, the technology was quickly taking a new path with science and magic application, but too much need to be done and 2 years after, humanity lose its foothold.

Because of the scientist teaching and knowledge nearly forgotten, magic quickly expand and improve. The best way of doing magic was by using seal, a seal let you use one spell.

Dean don't know about all the theory behind the seal, he normally should have started to learn that in 2 weeks time when he will enter the middle school, the Magic Academy think that it's the better time, but 3 years ago his sister began to learn it and so Dean start peeking some info about it, followed by his mother and father teaching him mana breathing, the way to accumulate mana in one body and soul.

He then learned mana focus two month ago, to let him control the mana in the body and will learn mana draw in the future to control the mana out of the body. A seal need an amount of mana, then drawing it the air with mana.

Mana breathing to cultivate the mana and be able to draw the mana, mana focus to use the mana in the body to enhance it and to shot it out of the body and then mana draw to use the expelled mana to draw a seal, able to use a spell.

But the diary let him know that it was not the only way to cast spell, the runic magic of his father was way different, he doesn't need to expel the mana out of the body and he can also use the mana in the air to create spell, something completely new to him and unheard of every theory he known. More he read about, more this magic was amazing, if well used he can become one of the most powerful mage but even if it's sound amazingly good, advantage come with inconvenient, one runes is not enough to become the best mage, you need to know and understand 17 rune like, an alphabet.

The seal magic is an easy magic in comparison of the runic one, but the runic one is way more adaptable and powerful. In one you need to know the seal perfectly, good control and have enough magic to create a spell, in the other you have to understand the element, know the runes by heart, and understand the runic language, but then you're able to do what you want!

Dean was impatient but not rushed.

Dean quickly take breakfast, a shower and then seated in front of his desk to read the following page. But when looked at the diary he was stunned, he clearly remember closing it and he read only the first twenty page, why would the grimoire be open at basic rune?

Dean try looking for the precedent page only to discover it spoke about mana breathing and mana focus he already started to train.

-Are dad able to control his Grimoire? Maybe the grimoire has a will?

Dean began to think, reflecting on the two possibilities, he would have taken a long time thinking about it if the page did not flap to the twenty-four in front him.

-Is like saying me to just study.

Say the young boy in a laugh of astonishment.

-So let's focus on it again, the issues will be with the understanding of elements but that for later.

Dean began to read, the basic runes where composed of nine runes. Fire, air, electric, water earth and neutral, were know as the elemental. Just some line and is world began to shatter, what's the neutral, where did he come from? Dean just placed his finger to think when the word on the page start to move and shrink, letting the space to new word to form beneath the neutral world. Startled again by the strangeness of the diary, he began to read.

Neutral element, the perfect cohesion of every elements, the perfect balance of every elemental mana and duality mana, the equilibrium, the sum.

Impressive, thought Dean. He quickly put is finger on another word and the line on the diary started to move anew. He did it for every Elemental.

Fire element, the most visible transformation of energy and matter, the least organized, the more unstable. XXX and XXX. Divine and Demonic

Air element, what is everywhere, darkness and light, blessing and curse. Air mana is very volatile.

Electric element, the one between energy and matter, always in movement, trying too find balance. XXX and XXX. Divine Summon and Demonic Summon.

Water element, the linker, the malleable, able to take every form but to stay unite. XXX and XXX. Healing and Poison.

Earth element, inert but resourceful, condensing and accumulating, the more anchored in matter. XXX and XXX. Living Summon and Death Summon.

After reading every summary, he was startled, it was a lot more profound that he thought.

It was just the elemental runes, the six primary runes, and his father created this magic when he was seven? He thought that it will be easy to follow his father's step, but he underestimated the passion and the research put in his father's study.

Fortunately he didn't start from the beginning, he was looking the world on the shoulder of a giant. He was already far behind his peer now. All he need was the determination and curiosity to advance in this new world of magic in front of his eyes.

But he will not rush, taking a deep breath, he started to read the every elemental runes summary again, trying to understand them better, while printing the form of the runes in his heart. The day passed quickly.
