I feel a light enter my eyes and I blink, not wanting to open my eyes. I wave my hands in the air, groaning, but there's no effect whatsoever.

"What the-?" I open my eyes, trying to see in the dark. There's some shuffling, and my eyes widen in fear.

"HEL-" my words die in my mouth when the person covers my mouth with their hands. My screams get stifled, and I grab the hand on my mouth, trying to push it away from my face when I hear a familiar and unexpected voice.

"Shh, sunflower, it's me," Ayan whispers softly. "I'm going to remove my hand now on the condition that you won't shout. Do we have an agreement?"

When I don't answer him, he repeats himself. I nod my head a little; if he thinks that I won't scream and get him thrown out of the house in the middle of the night, he's completely wrong.
