Final Selection 3

-Extra Scene-

"Hey Archer, just because you're correct it doesn't mean you're right."

"What?" Archer looked at him confused.

"People die when they get killed."

"Seriously, Blake what the fuck are you talking about?" Archer asked with a very confused look.

"Nothing, I just feel like saying those words." I grinned at him, before leaving.

-Blake-

I just finished killing the dozens of demons that were trying to cannibalize me, though I did it with a little bit of effort. I mean even sparing with Jaune is a hundred times harder than killing these demons.

"I swear after this final selection ends, talking to Archer is the first thing that I would do! I didn't know his E rank luck could infect others." I sigh heavily, now that I got the worst luck possible today I have to use 'that' item.

My lucky charm, the Tree Branch, saved me once, why not twice? Though I'm also curious if I use this as I do gacha.

Maybe I could get Epic items or something?

I took the Tree Branch out of the group chat, turns out we don't need gadgets to chat, from the moment we accepted the invitation we were bound to it, so basically we just had to call for it and the group chat screen would show.

After finishing, I continued in the direction where that girliest scream that I heard came from, as I arrived at the place it was empty.

"Was I too late?" That was the first thing I said, however, I noticed a particular detail: the trees around were perfectly cut down, it took only a single strike for them to do this, which meant whoever that person was was strong.

No normal demon slayer in training could do something like this, whoever they are they would surely pass this final selection if nothing goes wrong.

But little did I know that it was Jaune who did this damage, moving on from this matter. I'm hungry then I dashed in front of me at a speed greater than the speed, hoping that I could track some animals around.

Not even a minute later, I saw a boar, and no it wasn't Inosuke, without hesitation, I beheaded the boar cleanly so that it didn't even let a single sound, it was a perfect slash and the boar felt no pain after it died.

"Now my dinner is solved, I just have to skin it." I carried the boar to the nearest lake and started washing it. After that, I started to skillfully skin it and dissect its body parts.

I learned this skill living in the wild with Akane and Jaune, within the first few days of living Akane provided us food and after that, she told us to get food of our own because she won't provide us any more food and she was completely serious, because of that both I and Jaune were forced to learn and adapt living in the wild, while it was difficult we somehow managed it and after learning the necessary survival skills, both of us were fine living of our on the wild.

Even if we live in the wild for our entire life, we won't have problems surviving, and it only became easier now that both of us mastered the total breathing concentration technique.

I started to gather some firewood and dried leaves so that I could start a fire, primitive but effective. After starting the fire I skewered the boar meat with a stick and started roasting it.

As I waited for the food to get cooked, my ears twitched and sighed, "Whoever you are, show yourself there is no point hiding unless you have some bad intentions?"

As soon as I said that, the person who was hiding behind me came out of the trees and I shifted my attention toward the mysterious person who may or may not stalk me, seeing her appearance I couldn't help but be surprised.

"Makomo…" I muttered her name, even though she wasn't particularly the focus of the series because she's dead in the canon, but I remember her.

Makomo was a young girl of a short stature with pale skin, who possessed gentle eyes of a deep cyan color, their pupils rectangular and white, that were a notably paler turquoise near the bottom. She had black hair that came down to her shoulders, spiking outwards at the ends, and short micro bangs over her forehead.

She also has that mask that Urokodaki Sakonji gave her after she was qualified to join the final selection, however, something is amiss here, she was supposed to be dead at the current timeline…

But then again, this timeline was already wrecked by the system user before they even arrived.

If she's alive then, is Sabito also alive? I wasn't sure without seeing him, but if he was alive then Giyu wouldn't be such a distant person, a loner to boot.

For the first time, I have to admit that the intervention of the system user has some good effect, but it doesn't mean we won't hunt them though.

If possible, we could civilly talk to that system user and ask them to give up the system or we'll be forced to eliminate them.

I never really killed a human before, but I sure do have the resolve to kill if the situation calls for it.

"Sorry…I wasn't trying to sneak you up or anything...I just..!" Before she could even finish her sentence her stomach growled like a beast.

Hearing that there was an awkward silence between them, while Makomo remained calm and collected, the color of her face was not, it was unnaturally pink, she was embarrassed.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her misfortune, and thought. 'Hunger is indeed the enemy.'

"Say, do you want to eat together with me?"

-Jaune-

"Say…why are you following me?" Jaune shifted his attention toward the female demon that he spared.

"I-i don't know…I just feel like following you that's all!" Makugo lied through her teeth, a few minutes ago she thought that she was done for but to her surprise, the demon slayer didn't kill her and just left her.

It was strange, no that was an understatement to history, this demon slayer was the first one that didn't try to kill her even though he could have easily done so.

'What a strange human,' She thought, however, because she lived it doesn't mean that she's safe from dying!

She was ordered by Muzan, and if she failed she would no doubt die, that's how cruel her lord is, but she doesn't have the choice to refuse because her fate was her lord to decide, if he wanted to she would have dropped dead at this very moment.

This means, he allowed her to live, since she couldn't overpower and catch this yellow human, she decided to follow him, and she was right in making this decision because if she didn't Muzan would have killed her right off the bat.

Muzan was aware of the capability of Jaune, and he now realized that he had a 'mark' that reminds him of that terrifying 'thing' that gave him nightmares for centuries now.

He wanted him dead at this very moment, but he couldn't because Jaune was too strong to be killed by a lower moon demon, at the very least an upper demon is needed to kill someone at the caliber of Jaune.

And his second reason for not utilizing his upper demon to eliminate Jaune is because he is important to him, he had valuable information that he sought for millennials!

True immortality, an undying body without any drawbacks! If he could find this Echidna through Jaune, it would be really helpful.

Seeing that Jaune doesn't seem to have the intention to kill Mukago, he would use this to his advantage. He was pleased with the fact that Mukago followed Jaune without ordering her.

If she finishes this important order of his, he wouldn't mind adding Mukago to the ranks of Upper moon demons.

For now, he shall observe through the eyes of Mukago.

Little did he know that this order of his would be bound to be a failure and as for Mukago, this was the greatest decision that she has ever made changing her fate entirely from dying in Muzan's hands.

-Echidna-

The silver-haired witch suddenly smiled for some reason and said, "I have a feeling that Jaune would bring me an interesting 'gift'"

She couldn't hide her glee, thus she continued her research with Tamayo.
