Adventure Awaits!

E went through his belongings upstairs. he didn't really have much, just a few sets of clothes and trophies from hunting. He had a easy time leaving behind most everything. All he ended up taking was his quiver, a couple candles, and some small camping utensils. He looked at his room taking it in one last time. "Well adventure awaits!" He headed down to his folks.

" E, make sure you take a small sac of rations. You mother has made extra bread and you can take some some jerky just be sure to put it in that coin purse we gave you. Brackbush is about 30 miles from here should take you no more than 4 days if you keep moving. Stick to the trails, but stay off the roads you don't want unsavory company. You should arrive a day before most folks take room and board at the guild hall."

" Yes sir. Thank you guys again, when should I come visit?"

" Honey, we will send word to the guild if we need you. It may not make much sense to you now, but it will soon."

" Okay. Well I guess that's that then." E went and gave them both a hug and started to grab some food for the road. He went in his bag to grab the coin purse to put some jerky in it. Picking it up he could feel the weight of some coin and gave it a toss. Opening it and looking inside he saw nothing. Puzzled he look up to his parents and his father interjected before he could even ask.

" It's a small bag of holding, think of the item you've put inside and reach in. You need only grasp it. Store you're meat inside as to hide your scent better. Don't put anything living in it. It will die. And anything dead merely seems gone, it can still rot. Should hold about 400 lbs of material at maximum. Don't let folks see you take to much out or put to much in it either. Those are worth quite a bit. Also that scroll I gave you is for the Guild hall present it to them sealed. Don't worry it's just your squirehood and information. Also, Dur'ae, that means Ravenswood in Elvish. Both of those names carry a burden so don't bring them up in idle chat. And I'm sorry but if you go to the capital tuck your ears, some folks don't take kindly to mix-races."

" Alright, cool. Okay, well. I'll make sure to have tales to tell you when I see you next. Love you both goodbye." With that E left his home and began his trek as dusk began to settle in over the sky.

E took off into the night following old trails to the north. He had only ever been to Brackbush a few times in his life when his father needed a few tools. Living in the woods he didn't ever feel out of place as he made his way. After he had traveled a 6 or 7 miles he started to look for a decent rest spot for the night.

" Phew.. I never really stay up this late but if I make camp here and wake early I should be able to make good time. Dad must walk slow I may even arrive a whole day prior. I wonder if I will get the knight class like him. There's no way I will end up an Oracle like Mom. That would take a bit more knowledge of the arcane and gods I think." he thought to himself as he lay out his bed roll and start a small fire with a few branches around the area. He took a few sips of his water skin and fell asleep.

The next two days went by fairly quick as he made his way to town. The casual hunt of rabbit littered through his journey ended up nabbing him more than he could eat. " I bet I could fetch a decent trade for these three hares. I wonder if I can finally try alcohol" His eyes lit up at the thought. He arrived in town just past midday on his third day of travel.

Looking at the main road into Brackbush you could see that very quickly does the trail begin to split in a few directions. Brachbush had a decent size wall built around it no more than twenty feet with a large open gate on either side. E stepped into town with a bit of glee in his stride. His humble upbringing rarely brought sight of other people. He took everything in and familiarized himself with the surroundings. A smithy, and a few trade stalls littered the main road. A large inn sat dead center of town with a few more large uniform buildings surrounding it. He decided to step inside.

Inside the building he saw a large seating area with a bar at the back and a staircase leading to some rooms to the left. He approached the bar keep.

" Hello, is this the guild hall? I know it says inn but I don't see the hall marked on any buildings."

The old man behind the bar put down a drink to another man at the bar and look to him. " Aye, we're connected. The building on your left is the hall and the right you'll find the room's set for the size of a party. Can I get you anything while you're here? "

" Oh, Uhm yes. Can I have some alcohol? I would like to try some. I've had breakfast already. Also maybe you would want some of the rabbits I caught? " E stumbled on his words he hadn't been in this situation before.

" Your first drink ay? Where ya from kid? and sure I'll trade ya a tall pint for one. By the way names Jasper, good meeting ya."

The barkeep look him up and down noting he looked a bit young. The man at the bar to his left gave E a side eye and took his drink to a table a bit aways. E noticed not to many people seem to be in here at this time, just a few human looking travelers littered the room.

E grabbed a hare off his backpack and handed it to Jasper. He took it to the kitchen just behind the bar came back and poured E a drink. " This ere's a blackberry mead we make in house. Your right to ask for a drink now since it should get more lively in town in the coming days, likely to run out. It's a favorite of those who frequent the hall here."

E grabbed the drink and happily took a sip. It went down smooth and then a fire like burn came up his throat. " Ugh oh my goodness... sorry. That some strong stuff." he had felt some immediate effects set in and grew to like the new feeling over the next minute.

" Hahahaha, don't worry kid I made sure to set your bar high. Can't go on enjoying a drink if it doesn't do the job." He grabbed E's drink and downed the rest. " So you seem a bit young, trying your hand at the adventurers life I see? We all start out with dreams I suppose." he let out a small burp and became rosey cheeked.

E sat up straight and l realized he must certainly be drunk. The warmth he felt in his body came as a surprise to him. His father rarely drank but when he did he always liked to keep busy. " Yeah that's what I'm doing. Haven't even got my class yet. This is sort of my beginning. Can't wait to form a party and see the world." E replied in a youthful spirit causing Jasper to grin.

" Alright good on ya ladd. Don't go getting killed fore ya see to little. Head on next door when ya get yer bearings. They'll be sure to set you up with a class stone when you sign up. Any class you trained for? or hoping your base affinity pushes you into the choice? "

" Well my dad was a Knight , So I hope I am to. Trained hard for most of my life."

Jasper let out a deep laugh causing some patrons to look in their direction. " You a knight? Hahaha kid you're barely the size of a training dummy. Got some grit though I s'pose. Also what knight you know of uses a bow n'stead of a shield. I'll wager you fall into an archer class if you've even got aim. Most folks end up with stuff they didn't think they would. Some even get plain classes like farmer, smith, merchant, and the like and end up not in the life at all. Sides, Knight isn't an opener class. Your looking to become a soldier or warrior first."

E was somewhat distraught at the Jasper's words. " I don't know shit " he thought. "Wait so a knight isn't something you just get? A soldier or warrior ? Both can become a knight? I don't get it."

" Your a humble folk ain't ya, your family didn't think to tell ya? You'd rarely see someone start a class outside of an opener class. Knights are something made of a person. Takes more than wielding a weapon for a class to take shape. You've got to tailor your skills and reach your tenth level before you get a choice. And yes many avenues can lead to a class, warrior and soldiers can become knights. Warrior's usually take their own path out on the lamb, while soldiers usually take up with a guard somewheres."

E fell silent. He hadn't really asked any questions about classes with his parents. He took it as granted that his dad trained him to be a knight. Surely he had the skills in him he thought, but more than just a weapon. What could that mean. " So you said more than a weapon what do you mean?"

" Kid, if you're not willing to put yourself in the line of fire for the party you're no knight. Knights, Cavaliers, Barbarian's, Paladin's and the like are the backbone to a group and rarely do they not lead. You've got to be a leader and have the mind of your compatriots safety to the forefront of your duties. Can't just have a team of Mage's slingshoting spells willy nilly, liable to catch a few arrows. And I don't even see you got any armor. Have you even trained in armor before?"

" No I suppose not. But I can be a leader. I trained in battle formations with my mom and my dad always told me to keep an eye on my team and play to their suits."

" Well I wish ya the best. Just don't take it to hard if you don't end up a where ya wished 'nd make the best of it. I wanted to be a Bard but my voice is comparable with a pigs squeel. Not many folks will gain a benefit they don't know what I'm saying. Ended up becoming a Warrior and got to level 8 before I decided to hang it up. I've got some cooking to do now but be sure to stop back by and let me know what you become." and with that Jasper went and helped a few more guests before heading to the kitchen.

" Damnit. If I don't become a knight I'll be pissed. An extra year of training for what!" E grumbled as he walked out of the inn. Back on the street he looked around and noticed the stable towards the far gate had a few more horse and carriages in it's stalls. " Alright, Let's go see what I'm made of." He then turned to the guild hall building and stepped inside.
