1 All that Glitters is not Gold

One fine sunny afternoon in the Indian sub-continent with tummy full of food I laid in my bedroom with windows wide open. It was summer season so the sun was at its fullest brightness with hot airs gushing through the window. I was casually gazing at the street which is usually less crowded during the hot summer afternoons, vehicles passed through here and there, i even smelt thar in my nose which further intensified the terror of sunny afternoon.

Suddenly a bright flash of light grabbed my attention on the side pavement of the road. I was very much surprised because its not a usual scene in a dust and stone pellets scattered Indian roads. It was casting some beautiful light around it and really a attention grabber for anyone who is simply passing by. The light is so bright that it remembered me the scattering of light from a diamond stone.

First I ignored it but it kept on grabbing my attention, many thoughts started to run through my mind. What might be lying there is it a jewelry, is it a some decorative stone, is it some metal piece of cringe worth I couldn't come to a decision because the light emitted by it was so glaring I couldn't come to a conclusion what might be it.

After half an hour of inner struggle and hesitation i finally decided to check out what is that object in person. I was hoping to get something precious as my daily horoscope stated today is your lucky day. The object was lying on the other side of the road when i went out suddenly a fleet of vehicles started to flow in the streets which delayed me from getting close to the object out of no where. Suddenly a passer by on the other side of the road stopped near the object and started to have a glance at it. I was filled with fear that the man might take the object with him, I even thought of screaming at him to not touch it as it was first found by me. The man started to move pass the object then were I came to a calm state.

Vehicle movements came to stall and it was finally time to reach my goal. The shine further intensified when I reached the object. when I bent over to take that object I saw multiple colours spread on the object and it was thin as paper. When I took a closer look it was a 1 rupee match box packet which is coated with shiny substances over it was reflecting the sun light. There is no words to describe my level of disappointment, all the hours of thinking and desiring , horoscope predictions came to nothing in front of wax match stick box, irony in it is the match box is empty.

Some times things may look shiny and attractive when you watch it at a distance, when you push yourself and look at it closer then only the true colours will start to reveal. Thereafter whenever I buy a match box I remember this story and a famous proverb "All that glitters is not gold".
