53 Let me go

"Aria! What on earth are you doing up there? Come down right now!" A male voice called out.

I turned my head around and through the heavy sheets of rain, I could see Theo standing on the ground, he was glancing up at me, his clothes completely drenched and he looked angry.

"Theo!" I shouted, "he won't let me out!"

"Let her out man!" Theo demanded angrily at the security guard. Before she hurt herself! He added to himself.

"She doesn't have permission to leave school premises." The security guard explained in hesitate. He recognised Theo and knew who his family were, he didn't want to get on the wrong side of him.

"I'll get permission, just let her out already." Theo said through gritted teeth.

"Yeah, let me out!" I joined the rally.

"I need to see the permission slip first I'm afraid." The security guard shook his head. No permission slip no exit, those were school policy.

"I'll go get it now." Theo said. If he finds Cassandra, he could get her to write him a permission slip. "Can you please come down from there first?" Before you fall off!

"No!" I shouted again, "I don't have time, I need to go now!" Caleb McCann had my father and uncle. The clock was ticking, every second was precious.

Theo shook his head in vain. He gave up, why did he have to fall for an idiot? He thought hopelessly. He was too caught in the moment, he failed to realise what he had just admitted to.

Then before I knew it Theo started climbing the gate too. I felt the metal bars shaking under his movements, afraid I might fall off, I wrapped my arms around the gates hugging it tightly. We looked like two grasshoppers on a stick.

He reached up and grabbed a hold of my ankle. He was trying to pull me down! I thought in horror.

"No! What are you doing?! Let go!" I screamed, trying to get his hand off by delivering a few strong kicks.

"Stop it! Aria!" Theo tried to dodge his head out of the way. "Come back down!"

"Let me go!" I started crying. Never have I felt so helpless. My hands and arms were getting sore and tired, I was no doubt going to fall off soon and would probably end up breaking my leg as a result. Then I couldn't go save my dad who was the only family I had left in the world.

The bright headlights of a car beamed in our direction. I squinted my eyes in its direction and just about made out the outline of a sports car.

It stopped in front of the gates. A pair of long legs stepped out from the car. And seeing who it was, my heart started beating fast. If I could hide I would but I was stuck on a fence with Theo trailing behind me like a tail.

"What's going on?" Aiden looked at me and Theo then asked the security guard.

"She's trying to leave without permission and he's trying to stop her." The security guard answered, cursing himself in secret for picking the worst shift. Why did he have to have such run ins with two of the biggest hiers in the werewolf world?

"It's fine, I'll fill out a permission slip for her, you can open the gate." Aiden said in a commanding voice that made the security guard cower.

Theo was the first to jump down, I followed suit. He landed on the ground with ease and reached out his hand to help me.

Bloody traitor! Don't touch me. I thought as I gave him a dirty look and pushed his hand away roughly.

"I was just trying to help..." Theo tried to explain.

"I'm not talking to you!" I held up my hand, still crossed with him. Talk to the hand!

"Aria..." Theo began.

"You're not my friend anymore." I said stubbornly.

Theo looked like I had just slapped him across the face.

"Where are you going?" Aiden finished signing the paperwork. He turned to me and asked. "I can give you a lift."

"Cambridge testing facility." I looked at his eyes and said without hesitation.

If he was surprised by my answer he certainly didn't show it. He nodded in agreement and went back to the driver's side. I immediately trotted after him.

"I'm coming too!" Theo declared, running after us only to be stopped by the security guard. "I'm sorry, but you're not allowed to leave." He said.

"Hey, Callaghan," Theo called out, "sign a slip for me too please."

Aiden was in the process of opening the car door, he glanced over and before he could answer, I shouted, "no, don't sign a slip for him! He's not coming!"

Considering how much I resembled a drowned rat, my voice was hard as steel.

"Aria," Theo began, a little hint of plea in his voice. He has never had to use this tone with any women, maybe only his mother.

I ignored him on purpose, I got into the car and slammed the door shut behind me without a second glance. He had infuriated me this time and I was not going to forgive him.

Aiden got in the driver's seat and turned on the ignition. He glanced into the rear view mirror before releasing the brakes, then he pressed down on the gas pedal.

Theo watched as the car sped off into the distance. His hair dripping in rain water, he punched the gates in frustration causing the gate to shake and clatter loudly.

It should have been him in that car driving off with Aria, instead of Aiden Callaghan! Then as if punching the gates wasn't enough, he started kicking the gate repeatedly like a mad man.

The security guard looked on with a worried expression on his face, uncertain whether to stop him or not.

Damaging school property warranted detention but the McAllisters were one of the biggest benefactors of the school.

Oh why didn't he just let him out and be done with it. The security guard thought gloomily.
