Chapter 17 - Dimensional Group Chat... wait what?

Chapter 17 – Dimensional Group Chat... wait what?

She found herself somehow above the ground, floating in the sky in an ethereal state. Her body was semi-transparent and she figured out that she could move normally, if it wasn't for the fact that there was nothing to step on.

Then, a person walked, seemingly unfazed by no ground in front of her, and foreign memories suddenly gushed into her head.

She remembered the contract that she made in a different timeline, and everything started to make sense.

"I died." She didn't start begging for her life or another chance, but accepted this fate.

"You did, now it's time for your side of the contract."

"Very well." Then once again, her memories began to stir and her sight became cloudy.

"Don't you have anything else to say?"

"Why?" Her thoughts became slower and some distant memories became a haze.

"You are literally going to die, not just death but complete destruction. Everything you did will be for nothing. Are you not at least somewhat upset?"

With the last of her strength, she managed to make a sentence before completely being deleted.

"I simply lost, that's all."

A simple line with a powerful meaning.

Then her body disappeared.

Rimuru stared at where she dissipated for another couple seconds, in thought, before leaving.

...

Medea was perhaps the most dutiful out of the crew working at the café. Rimuru was constantly sleeping at the desk, Ciel never left the kitchen and having a conversation with was akin to walking the line between life and death, and Artoria always was chewing on something ever since Rimuru gave her an infinite bottomless bowl of snacks.

There were all strange in their own rights, but she still cared for them, however today, this was about to change.

A flash of light from nowhere suddenly shone and aimed straight for Medea's forehead. By passing all of the protective barriers she placed around the place, it alarmed her, however, thought speed was always quicker than reaction speed.

Although she knew something got pass, her body was still too slow to deal with it, and unfortunately the ray quickly met her forehead.

She prepared herself for the worst, but strangely enough, she didn't die, but a mechanic voice echoed in her head.

("Greetings the one known as Medea. You have been invited to the 'Dimensional Group Chat', would you like to join?")

...

Despite these words that sounded in her head, both Rimuru and Ciel heard it.

(Hey Ciel, what is this?)

(If I were to guess, it would be a group chat type system that invites multiple characters across the multiverse. It seems like multiple world wills from this multiverse banded up to create this system in order to repel us, the anomalies.)

(What! But we didn't do anything)

(Well...)

(Ciel, what did you do?)

(I may have forcefully merged lots of different universes into one, which already disrupted the worlds. Then I rewinded time and rewrote history for our convenience, which may have been the last straw for them)

(Oh. What do you want us to do then? Leave?) He shuddered at the thought of more paperwork.

(They can't harm us anyway. Just ignore it and see how it plays out)

(As you say)

Little did Rimuru know, after this conversation Ciel used [Parallel Existence] and another body appeared outside of time and space, where the world wills reside.

Before any had the chance to react, she narrowed her gaze and a strand of energy was separated from them and then connected to Ciel.

She then looked at the world wills, who were scared out of their minds for being discovered, and raised her hand.

A wave permeated through the air and the wills felt a chill in their souls.

After a brief moment, the feeling disappeared along with Ciel, but a message was left behind.

It read, 'don't mess around with us. After this is over you'll be rewarded greatly.'

Then, as if the previous encounter didn't exist, they all started to cheer happily. (A/N happy ending?)

One of the wills then said, "wait, then why did we create the group chat?"

"Oh."

"Idk."

"We spent so much strength making that, but now the group chat was just taken away from us. We need at least a couple million years to recover after that."

"Yeah... I mean... the goal of it was to kill Rimuru after all, what do we do now?"

...

Admin: Welcome! Witch of Betrayal.

Red Dragon Emperor: Welcome! Are you a witch? What do you look like?

Nightmare: I hardly think that's appropriate. Welcome by the way!

Red Dragon Emperor: My bad hehe.

Witch of Betrayal: What is this?

Baldy: Betrayal? Seems you have gone through some things.

77th Director: Ooh! I know the answer! Basically the admin added us to this chat and its really fun. We get to go on missions together in different worlds, we can trade and send items across, and can livestream! There's also a shop to buy stuff with chat points!

Admin: What she said.

Ainz: I am quite curious at your title. If you don't want to talk about it then please don't.

Nightmare: Yeah same.

Witch of Betrayal: Has everyone revealed their names yet?

King of Imanity: Yeah but with our own will. If you don't wanna then its fine.

Red Dragon Emperor: I'm Issei Hyoudou!

Witch of Betrayal: I would much rather not reveal my name, and for Ainz's question, I used to be someone who had naively thought that society was all sun and shine.

Ainz: I see...

Railgun: A new person! Welcome!

Red Dragon Emperor: You're a bit late...

Medea herself was unsure whether to mention the existence of this peculiar group chat to Rimuru, but after deciding not to wake him up, she just ignored him and asked a very crucial question.

Witch of Betrayal: What is this even for. Like, what's the goal.

Admin: Oh, to be completely honest, I don't know. I'm called Admin but I can't completely control the chat and I didn't make it either. The features were installed after it 'levelled' up. It recently did, so one new member was added. As for the end target, I'm not sure.

Admin: And also, we are parts of different universes. Sometimes, the chat would give out quests itself and we can choose if we want to accept. The quests will either be somewhere in our worlds, or one that no-one knows about. It is only after a couple of these quests that experience is accumulated and the chat can level up. That's also how you get points, by contributing in the quests.

Red Dragon Emperor: You can also get cool abilities from these worlds!

Ainz: This chat is indeed quite mystical. I am not ashamed that I have benefitted of this quite a lot.

Witch of Betrayal: Is there any way to change the username?

Admin: Unfortunately not, but this isn't a toxic community, so we won't bring it up right?

Red Dragon Emperor: Yes!

Baldy: At least you're not called 'Baldy'

Witch of Betrayal: I guess...

She then 'logged off', in other words, completely ignored the chat, and found that it just disappeared from her vision.

Her mind was spinning. When she woke up this morning, she did not expect for this to happen, and she didn't know what to do.

After contemplating it for a bit, she thought it would be best to spend time on this as more of a pass-time activity, rather than focusing on it too much that it will affect her work. (A/N She has a sense of duty... unlike me *sob)

...

A red-haired teenager lied down on his bed with his arms spread wide. Although it looked like he was staring at the ceiling very intensely, he was actually looking at the chat, before then closing his eyes with a smile.

(It seems like a new so-called member joined?) A voice in his head sounded, and a small red glow appeared on his left hand

(Yup. Although she is called the Witch of Betrayal, and doesn't want to mention her name, she's a new member after the last quest was completed.)

(Hmm...)

...

77th Director: Hey Witch! Wanna buy a coffin? It HALF price!

Nightmare: Hu Tao, please stop. You don't need to include her now.

77th Director: But what if she wants to buy?

Nightmare: Has anyone else here bought one? No. You know why? Because they're not dead!

77th Director: Oh.

Nightmare: If someone here dies, I'm sure they would be glad to buy one of you.

77th Director: Of course, I have the best coffins after all!

Nightmare: Of course...

77th Director: Why does that sound so sarcastic?

Nightmare: It's just your imagination.

...

Baldy: Hey Mikoto, your hair serum didn't work.

Railgun: Did it not? But the advertising said it could heal any baldness.

Baldy: It couldn't. I followed the instructions but it couldn't. I had to fight at a tournament with a wig and it was so embarrassing after. I almost got disqualified. I was lucky that I wasn't exposed afterwards.

Railgun: At least it worked out. I'll ask a very professional doctor I know to prescribe better medicine. Please wait a bit.

Baldy: Okay.

...

Red Dragon Emperor: Hey Sora, check this magazine out.

King of Imanity: Oh my god, thank you my brethren.

Red Dragon Emperor: Don't worry about it, we people who share the same interests must always stick together. You can't get anymore, so I will help you. Just don't let your sister find out about it!

King of Imanity: I won't. This time I will hide it somewhere safe. I have a god-slayer next to me after all. I will just play a game with her, and then store it into her storage and let her forget the memories. Then, every time I need it, I only have to say a signal for her to open the storage up. I spent hours thinking about this fool proof plan last night.

Red Dragon Emperor: As expected of the legendary King of Imanity. I kinda wish my world was that simple. Your intelligence knows no bounds!

King of Imanity: Hahahaha.

Red Dragon Emperor: Hahahaha.

Railgun: You two are disgusting.

...

Ainz: Hey Kurumi. I recently just finished writing a book regarding time. It may help you with your goal. If you don't mind, please read it.

Nightmare: Oh sure.

She accepted the book as a gift and it appeared right in front of her.

It took 10 minutes to finish, before she resent it back to Ainz.

Nightmare: It does make sense, however regarding this part you wrote. The phenomenon of time and its relationship with the fundamental laws of physics is a topic of immense scientific import and intellectual rigor. Central to this inquiry is the examination of the motion of time in the contect of noth Einstein's theory of general relativity and quantum mechanics, two of the most celebrated and consequential scientific theories of the modern era. General relativity, as a theory of gravitation, posits that time is a dimension that is inextricably linked with the three dimensions of space, and is subject to curvature and deformation in response to the presence of matter and energy. This theory asserts that time can be regarded as a dynamic entity that is capable of flowing at different rates in different regions of spacetime, thereby giving rise to the notion of time dilation. Quantum mechanics on the other hand, presents a starkly different perspective on the nature of time. In the quantum domain, time is seen as a fundamental aspect of reality, with events occurring probabilistically in accordance with the principles of wave-particle duality and superposition.

Red Dragon Emperor: Huh?

Ainz: So, you're saying that time is involved in the evolution of quantum systems, with probabilities for the outcome of quantum measurements evolving deterministically in time according to the Shrodinger equation? Hmm. Furthermore, I think that in quantum mechanics, the concept of time-reversal symmetry plays a crucial role in determining the properties and behaviour of physical systems. This symmentry implies that the laws of physics remain unchanged under time-reversal transformations, and has important implications for the nature of quantum processes such as decay and scattering.

Red Dragon Emperor: What?

Railgun: I actually agree! This view of time introduces a degree of indeterminacy and unpredictability into our understanding of physical processes, and challenges the conventional notion of determinism that is central to classical physics. The reconciliation of these seemingly incompatible views of time constitutes a major challenge in contemporary physics, is widely regarded as a critical step towards the development of a unified theory that is capable of describing the workings of the universe at all scales. Theoretical frameworks such as quantum field theory, loop quantum gravity, and string theory all seek to address this issue, and present a rich and diverse landscape of ideas and approaches. The motion of time and its relationship with general relativity and quantum mechanics constitutes a scientifically profound and intellectually demanding inquiry that continues to captivate and inspire the scientific community. The quest to understand this complex and multi-faceted subject holds great promise for the advancement of our understanding of the universe and the nature of reality itself. (A/N ChatGPT for the win)

Ainz: I see...

Red Dragon Emperor: Didn't Ainz only send the book to Kurumi?

Ainz: Yeah.

Red Dragon Emperor: Then how did Misaka carry on the statement?

Railgun: Cos I'm smart. I have lots of experience in this field.

Red Dragon Emperor: How? You're the same age as me!

Railgun: Physically, in terms of mentality, I am far superior than you.

...

Admin: Hey! Anyone want a sword made of indestructible steel? I stumbled upon one but I don't need it.

77th Director: Oooh. I'll have it. Lumine's sword shattered whilst fighting against a hydra outside Liyue, so I'll give this to her and say it's an early birthday present.

Admin: Sure, it's up for 900 points.

** Notification! Admin listed [Unbreakable Sword (Rare)] for 900 points!

77th Director: 900! That's enough to buy a life potion!

Admin: You know I can't do anything about it. The chat gives these prices instead of me. I could choose the 'gift' option but I will be losing here.

77th Director: I-I'll buy it. Lumine better buy a coffin after this.

**Notification! 77th Director bought [Unbreakable Sword (Rare)] for 900 points.

77th Director: My heart is bleeding...

Witch of Betrayal: Wait, we can sell these stuff?

Admin: Yeah, but we can't decide the prices as you can see from Hutao, or 77th Director. I actually recommend this since you just joined and only get the daily 10 points for members.

Witch of Betrayal: Daily points?

Admin: Yeah, basically everyone starts with the level 1 pack, which is 10 daily points every day. After missions, some items and packs in the shop may be given for free, or you can buy the level packs in the shop. Level 2 gives 25 and level 3 gives 50 etc. I have the level 9 which gives around 500 every day.

77th Director: It's not fair! He's got admin privileges. I'm only level 4!

Admin: Actually it's not. It's just that I invested my points into the packs early on. You started wasting them on pointless things in the shop, which is why you are broke.

77th Director: Hmph!

Witch of Betrayal: So I can sell weapons and stuff on here to earn points?

Admin: Yes, and the rarity of the weapon will decide the price. Feel free to sell them. As long as it's useful, someone will buy them. After all, we are quite rich excluding Hutao. And, you haven't gone on any quests yet, so you don't know the rewards we get.

Hmm. Medea thought about this whilst lying on her bed.

She got up and put on slippers.

"[Skill Nemesis] [Gate of Babylon]"

A B-ranked polearm appeared on her bed.

She then opened the chat menu, and tried to list it.

[Are you sure to list this item [Abyssus Draconis (Epic)] for 2000 points?]

To Medea's absolute surprise, it actually worked.

And then an evil smile widened across her face.

** Notification! Witch of Betrayal listed [Aestus Domus Aurea (Legendary)] for 4800 points!

** Notification! Witch of Betrayal listed [Agni Gandiva (Legendary+)] for 5000 points!

Admin: ...

77th Director: ...

Baldy: I never knew mythical, divine and transcendent even existed

Meanwhile Medea had a smug look on her face since she found a way to get infinite points. After all, when she loses a weapon from the [Gate of Babylon], it just automatically regenerates and replaces itself.

Witch of Betrayal: Don't worry, I have even more, it's just that I reached the maximum amount I could list.
