The drugs help with the blue underneath. The 100 milligrams of Sertraline HCL, twice a day now. The 100 milligrams of Bupropion HCL SR. Tuckie takes the pills in the morning. They relax her. They give her energy that food doesn’t. It’s so hard to explain to those around her exactly how the pills work, but they areworking for her just fine. She feels balanced for the very first time in her life. She is less depressed. No longer does she stare at the ceiling and walls, thinking: I am alone. I am battling this myself. Why can I not be happy?

Tuckie sees the forest within the trees. It’s true. It’s not bullshit. Sky-reaching trees of a beautiful green. Above the eating and suffocating blue for once. Trees covered in morning dew. Trees bathed in splinters of sunshine. Trees of many different types: walnut, birch, redwood, sycamore, balsa, eucalyptus, pine, palm, willow. So many different trees.
