17 It’s not a Ed!!!

The Next Day

It was the next morning after E-class's water trip and Eric was slowly beginning to wake up from his sleep. He grumbled as he rubbed his eyes to get the gunk out of them. He opened his eyes but just as he did, the light hit his right eye and Eric clenched it in pain as he yelled "OWW".

Just another bad thing about his right eye.

With the blood vessels in his eyes completely broken, he became very sensitive to light and bright lights hurt worse for him than anyone else.

'Always a great day to start my mornings. By getting sun knives in your eyes. Yea, I know that's an exaggeration but still it sucks'

He closed his eyes and climbed out of his bed and began walking towards the kitchen. He opened his door and he saw the Double D was up working on homework but Ed and Eddy weren't. He figured they were still in bed.

Double D heard the door opened and turned to see Eric with bed hair and sleepy eyes.

"Well good morning, Eric. Wonderful morning, isn't it" said Double D, trying to be cheery.

Eric just grumbled as he said "What's so good about it. Sunlight hurts me every morning" grumbled Eric as he went to the fridge and pulled out a milk carton. Double D sighed in defeat as he knew Eric wasn't much of a morning person. He saw that Eric had began making his breakfast, which was just cereal.

He then looked down at his watch and said "Still. I know that its Saturday but sleeping until 11:30 isn't a good thing to do Eric. It'll make you more lazy and that will certainly affect your grades.

Just as he heard that, Eric choked on his cereal as he then began coughing out the milk and cereal bits. But as he stopped coughing, he turned to Double D and said "Wait. What time did you say?!"

Double D looked at his watch again and then said in a nervous tone, "Uh, 11:30".

Eric then looked at the clock on their wall and he wasn't wrong. Eric began to worry as he  remembered that Toka had talked about meeting him at their apartment at 11:30. Now it was 11:31 and he was late. Eric then jumped up from his chair and began running towards his room.

Double D was shocked by Eric's sudden reaction at the time.

"Wonder what he's in such a hurry about" thought Double D as in a few minutes, Eric came running out of his room with a red shirt and black shorts and then grabbed his sweat shirt and was about to head out the door when Double D said "Wait Eric" to which Eric stopped and turned to face him.

Double D stood up from his chair and asked "Where are you going on this day."

Eric grew a nervous face as he said "Uh...errands" and then bolted out the door as he shut it quickly.

Double D scratched his head in confusion. "What exactly do we need to get for errands" he said as he continued to stare at the door.

But then he heard Eddy's voice coming from his room saying "I'll tell you what we need sockhead. Blackmail" as he peered out from his door in a sneaky way as he held up his phone. Then Ed came peeking out....of the top part of the door.

"I am Man-bat. Squeak. Squeak" said Ed as he flapped his wings like a bat.

Eddy just groaned as he said "It's Batman. Who really cares about Man-Bat. And besides they go Eek, not squeak, like the rats in your head, monobrow" as he pulled Ed down.

Double D grew a sweat drop as he asked "Just what are you planning Eddy. It doesn't sound good."

"Oh calm down, Double D. We're just going to watch Eric do his "Errands" said Eddy as he put air quotes when he said errands.

0000000000000000000000

Eric had ran as fast as he could out the door and tried to put his shoes on but he kept stumbling around. Eventually he came out of the door of their apartment complex. He stood up and gained his composure as to not look like an idiot in front of Yada. But when he looked around himself, he couldn't see Yada anywhere. He could have sworn that she told him 11:30 outside their apartment.

He guessed that Yada must've been caught up with something so she was running late. He then walked over to a bench by the wall of the complex and sat down to wait for Yada.

While he waited for her, he began to think more on what she was doing, for him at least.

'It's so weird. Normally girls are afraid of me or just call me a freak and run away, but Yada seems to be the only girl, besides my mother and grandmother, who doesn't seemed to be bothered by it. Yea, she did ask my eye and that made me think more on how I got it, but she apologized when there was no need. She was just curious. And I guess when I told her and the class about Akira, she's been worried about me. And there she was, giving me a ticket to join her to the carnival down town. She must be really worried about me. Guess Nagisa wasn't off when he told me how she was like the big sister of the group.'

Eric waited for 5 minutes and she hadn't shown up.

"Wonder whats keeping her" he thought as he then stood back up and just decided to head back in since it didn't seem she would be here anytime soon. Until....

"Hi, Eric. Sorry, I'm late" yelled a familiar voice.

'Hit with that old cliche again. Good grief'

Eric turned around to see Yada coming towards him. She came closer and closer to him to where he could see what she was wearing. She had a beige looking shirt with a pink pocket on her left breast, a red handkerchief on her left arm, a skirt with camouflage on it, thigh high black socks , and brown knee high leather boots. She had a hand bag carried on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry I'm late Eric. Some things at home kept me busy so I had to stay a while. I'm sorry if I made you wait" said Yada in a sincere but also in a slightly worried way. Eric could see that she was trying to be nice so he couldn't help but blush a little at how cute she was acting.

"Oh, uh, No its fine. Truth be told. I slept until 11 or so this morning so I was running late too" chuckled Eric, nervously. Yada could see that he was a little bit embarrassed so she couldn't help but chuckle at how he was acting.

Eric took notice of this and asked "What's so funny?"

Yada soon stopped her giggling as she gained a slight blush on her face as she said "Oh its nothing. Pay no mind to it" as Yada then cleared her throat as she looked back at Eric with a happier expression as she asked "So are you ready" as she tilted her head to the side and smiled.

Eric couldn't help but smile as well as he said "Yep. Better hurry so we're not late for the train" as he turned around and he and Yada began walking down the sidewalk, to the train station.

'Well, here's hoping everything goes well'

EDventure #17 — "Its not an Ed"

Eric and Yada had just barely managed to make it to the train station. Yada apologized again for nearly making them wait but Eric just chuckled as he told her not to worry about it. They made it and that was all that mattered.

Some time had passed and the two finally made it to their destination. They walked out of the train but when Eric came out, he didn't see the carnival anywhere.

"Uhh, are you sure we got off on the right stop" he asked nervously. Yada could see his confusion and chuckled as she said "It's down the street a little bit" as she pointed out towards the road. Eric followed her finger and saw the road had a hill going down so he figured it was down there.

The two began walking their way down the sidewalk and Eric thought to pas the time to ask her some things.

"Hey Yada" he asked.

She turned to him and said "Yea, what is it?"

"Why exactly are you doing this. I mean you could've asked anyone in the class but you chose me. Why?" asked Eric as he was genuinely curious.

Yada's smile changed to a neutral expression as she looked down, away from him, but then turned back to him and said "Because I thought you might like a nice thing to do on the weekend" in her sweet voice.

Eric blushes a tiny bit at what she said but he couldn't help but smile. But that wasn't the answer he was looking for so he asked again.

"No what I meant was....." until he was stopped by Yada saying, "Look Eric. We're here" as she pointed ahead of her and down a little. Eric stopped as he looked at what she was pointing at. Apparently, he had lost track of how far they were walking because right down below them was the carnival.

There were so many rides. Roller coasters, a giant Ferris wheel in the back, swinging rides, and so much more. Eric couldn't help but be amazed at how big the place was. So many things to do, it could be considered impossible to pick one.

Their eyes scanned the field, tall tents striped like candy and the Ferris wheel turning and turning, sounds of laughter and fun, and many other things.

While he was amazed at the carnival activities, Yada couldn't help but feel happy that Eric was happy. She then grew a sad look. She knew that Eric was hurting on the inside after everything with Akira so she knew she had to make him feel happy again. Because she was happy when he was happy. Because.....Because.....

"So shall we have some fun" said Eric, breaking Yada out of her voice as she turned to him.

Eric offered his hand for Yada to take, to which Yada was nervous at first but she graciously accepted and they began walking down the stairs to the carnival.

They made their way down and stood by the ticket booth and then handed them their tickets and then they got plastic band on their wrists that allowed them to ride any ride without having to constantly return to the booth for tickets.

"Well, shall we go on" said Yada as she held her hands behind her back.

Eric smiled as he said "We shall" as he held out his right arm as Yada smiled and nodded as she accepted his arm and they went on their way.

They went off in the direction some of the small rides as they passed booths that had snacks, deep fried food, and sugary sweets. They past some of the prize stations with several men and women trying to coax them into playing games for prizes. One table held a display tank full of lively goldfish.

"A lot more stuff to do here than I thought" said Eric as he looked around to see many people bustling about.

Yada chuckled as she said "Well of course silly. Its a carnival. Not to mention, its up only a few times in the year so its like once in a life time thing here."

Eric chuckled as he said "I take it this isn't your first time here."

"Of course not. I've mostly lived in Tokyo most of my life and I've been here before" said Yada.

Eric and Yada kept walking through the crowd until they made it to a few of the big rides as Eric then asked "So what do you want to do first."

Yada put her finger on her chin in thought as she looked at the rides ahead of them. There was one of those big chairs swings that lifted people high into the air and swung them round like a merry go round.

'Huh. Hows that for rhyming.'

There was a log ride that was like a roller coaster and then had that big splash drive through at the end. A tilt-a-whirl was next to it with a long line so they knew that one was a no for now. And then there was.....

"Oh how about this one called Fireball" said Yada as she pointed to a ride that looked like sort of like a swing but with 6 parts on it with 4 seats on each part.

Eric's eyes widened a little at the ride then turned to Yada and said "Are you sure."

Yada was surprised by him saying this and asked "Whats wrong. Are you afraid of heights."

"Oh no. Its not that. Its just, I've been a little afraid of swinging rides" said Eric, nervously.

Yada was curious as she asked "Why? Whats wrong with them" as she turned to face him.

"Well its not really them specifically. Its just that Eddy had this idea to make another scam by making our own carnival called "Ed-Land" for the kids on either our neighbors clothesline or our own, I forget, and he had used a big chair to mimic a ride like this but then after the first swing it broke and sent Eddy flying, straight into Kevin's window" said Eric, sheepishly.

Yada began to think back to who Kevin was and then asked "the one that always called you guys "dorks", right?" asked Yada as she grew a slight frown.

"Yea, that was him. Anyways, it broke his window and Eddy said it was the "Mucky Boys" that broke his window" said Eric as he recalled the event.

"Mucky Boys?" said Yada in question.

"Yea I know, stupid name. It was Eddy's idea but soon Eddy began dragging us along into making the whole Cul-de-sac think that they existed. Creating cave paints, covering ourselves in mud, and acting crazy to sell their existence" said Eric, nervously.

Yada was both shocked and not shocked that they did something like that but couldn't help but snicker as she asked "And how well did that turn out."

Eric sighed as he said "With us stuck in a cement block for hours."

"Did you ever get out" she asked while still giggling.

"Yea. Johnny 2x4 gave us a cake with a hammer in it but Ed ate the cake with the hammer stuck to his head. It took hours but we finally managed to get the hammer. But it took more hours to get ourselves out of it" said Eric.

Yada couldn't help but giggle at his dilemma. Eric sighed again as he scratched his head and said "Ever since, I've been kind of skeptical about swinging rides for the fear of them breaking and flying off and me either breaking something or me ending up broken boned and what not."

Yada stopped her giggling as she said "Well I can assure you that this ride won't break" reassured Yada.

Eric looked at the ride again and said "You sure" until he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to Yada with a smile on her face as she said "Of course. I would never lie to you" as Eric saw little shimmers light all around her like you'd see in fairy tale shows or things like that.

'I knew that she was a lot different from the other girls in our class or just any girl I had ever met but the way she said those words, sort of, spoke to me in a sense'

"You're right," Eric said as he turned back to the ride.

"You ready" he asked with Yada nodding her head yes. Together, they took the steps leading up to the ride and flashed their wristbands to the operator. He seated the two of them together in a one of the arms, then they waited for others to come on them as well.

Eric felt a little nervous as he hadn't been to a carnival in a long time. He had forgotten what the feel was like on carnival rides, but then again, being with the Eds was one giant carnival ride. He clung to the handle bars on his harness in nervousness, but then he felt Yada hold his hand as she said "Calm down. Its just a ride. If it'll make you stop worrying, I'll hold your hand to make you feel at ease" said Yada, sincerely.

Eric graciously accepted her hand as the ride suddenly jerked forward a bit then began going back. As that happened, they began spinning around and soon the swinging became more strong as they went higher into the air. Then came back down and swung the other way while spinning. Eric just cheering and laughing at how high they were going and how it tickled his tummy when they went down.

Yada screamed as well and it too was a scream of fun at how high they were going. Eric looked to Yada and saw that she was having fun too as they kept swinging back and forth, while he kept laughing at how it tickled his stomach.

Soon the ride came to a stop and they let everyone off the ride. As soon as the harnesses came underdone, Eric managed to get out fine but Yada came stumbling out of them. He held onto her to keep her steady and helped her walk out of the exit gate.

They stopped near it as Eric asked "Wow that was fun. I could tell you had fun as well, but are you feeling ok" as he saw that she seemed a bit wobbly.

"Yea. Its just been a while, that  I forgot how the falling part of these rides make my legs feel funny" she said, sheepishly.

Eric chuckled as he helped her stand up.

He then looked ahead of them and said " Wanna try another ride?" as he looked at Yada.

"Sure. This time, you pick" said Yada as she smiled at him.

Eric hummed in agreement as he looked around for which ride to do. They walked around to find the right one.

Then Eric pointed ahead of them and said "How about that one" as Yada looked to see one ride called 'Kamikaze' that had two parts to it. Each side had a long pole attached to seats in a cage like design as the two part seemed to spin upside down in opposite directions.

"Sure" said Yada as he grabbed his arm and the two began running over to the ride. Sadly, when they got there, there was a line but when the ride finished more people went on it and the line shortened in no time at all. After waiting for the ride to be done, they finally got strapped in and they waited for the ride to start.

While they waited, Yada held out her hand in case Eric needed it but he nodded his head 'No' that he didn't need it. Soon the ride started and Eric soon began giggling when the ride went down and it made his belly feel funny. But then when they began to flip upside down, Eric closed his eyes and then cheered loudly as they went down and he kept doing that until the ride was finally done.

The two stepped out of the ride and Eric began panting hard from the cheers he had done. Yada did too as she put her hands on her hips in tiredness.

Eric lifted his head as he said "Another ride."

Yada thought about it but then she pointed to a snack stand and asked, "How about something sweet for a bit."

Eric looked at the stand and figured that maybe they should get something to eat so he nodded yes.

They walked together to the stand and looked over the small selections offered. Eric began looking at the menu items and couldn't help but cringed at the sound of some of them, including the deep fried candy bars.

'Yuck, why would they make something that's already not healthy. Who'd even eat that. Eh...Ed would, I guess. Nah, I know he would.'

Yada looked as well at the menu and saw a good variety of sweets, even if she agreed at how some sounded nasty.

"Cotton candy?" she asked.

"If that's what you want" asked Eric.

"Think I'll just take....uh...I'll try some raspberry crepes. And what do you want for a drink" asked Eric.

Yada looked at the menu again and said "I'll just have a lemonade" to which Eric nodded and said "And a lemonade and a Mountain Dew" said Eric to the vendor.

The man nodded then said "That'll be 1500 yen."

Yada reached into her bag and was about to pull out some money but Eric held her hand, stopping her. She slightly gasped but then turned to him and was about to ask "What's wrong" but then he said "Please let me do this. It's the least I can do for bringing me here."

Yada was surprised at his gesture but decided to let him be. Eric reached into his wallet and pulled out the money and gave it to him. Then the man went to work making their food.

"Did you get a job cause that was a lot of money you had there" asked Yada but then she heard what she said out loud and then said "Oh my god. I'm sorry I didn't mean to ask snoop. I was just curious it seemed like you had a lot of money there" she said, nervously.

Eric chuckled as he said "Its fine Yada. I don't mind if its you. Anyways, as for the money, our parents didn't want to move overseas with us to the school so they send us money. Well, more to me and Double D since we're more responsible with the money than Eddy and Ed. Eddy would just blow the money off on jawbreakers and Ed.... probably would've done something stupid with the money, in the terms of not buying something and using the money for things their not used for. So that's kind of the reason why for so much. That and Eddy did manage to make some money from our baseball game so there's that" said Eric.

Yada nodded in understanding of their money situation as the man came out and said "One cotton candy and lemonade" to which Yada was given a large cone of blue and purple sugary fluff. She took and stepped back as then the man came back with Eric's food as he said "And one raspberry crepe with a Mountain Dew" as Eric took it.

The two began walking over to a table but not until they were stopped but the vendor saying "Hey kid, nice scary costume there" to which they stopped and turned back to him as Eric said "What do you mean?"

"What do I mean. I mean that black eye and shark teeth there. Very scary, but what exactly are you dressed up as" asked the man.

Hearing this made Eric's mood go from great to bad as he lowered his head and just mumbled "Its not a costume. Its me" and just walked away from the vendor in sadness.

Yada heard what he said and too grew a sad expression. She tried to lift Eric's spirts and it seemed to work but now they were back down to 0.

She then glared back at the vendor, which made the man step back in question and was about to ask what was wrong but then Yada growled at him then said "You're the worst" and then went after Eric.

"What did I say" thought the man.

0000000000000000000000

Yada walked after Eric after he sat down and began eating his crepe. She sat down and could see that he was sad.

She then sat closer to him and said "Don't listen to him, Eric. He doesn't know anything. Don't let him get you down. We came here to have fun and I don't like seeing you feel down so come on. Smile for me" she said in her sincerest voice. Eric tried but that comment still hurt him that the man thought he was wearing a costume.

Then something big and fluffy hit his face which brought him out of his thoughts. He looked to see Yada tickling his face with her cotton candy mound

"Tickle, tickle, tickle!' she laughed as she kept tickling his face with it, trying to make him smile. Eric couldn't help but laugh at how the cotton tickled his face.

"Ok, OK. Please stop" as he swatted away the mound.

"Only if you stop feeling down and have some fun today" said Yada in a cheeky way but also in. playful demanding tone. Eric kept laughing at getting tickled so he knew how to make her stop. He opened his mouth and took a big bite out of her cotton candy and tore it off.

Yada saw this and said "Hey. Thats not fair."

"Neither was it smart to tickle me with the fluffy candy" muffled Eric through his bite. As he used his hand eat the candy, Yada decided to have some fun and get her revenge.

She then turned to Eric's treat and yelled "Hammurabi's code. An eye for an eye. You take my treat I take yours" as she leaned forward quick and chomped on Eric's raspberry crepe.

"Hey" he said as she retreated and chewed his treat away but as she did that, she began to think more on what she did.

She just realized that she took a bit of his already eaten crepe. So in other words....

.....she had an indirect kiss with him. She then blushed severely at what she did, then hid herself behind her cotton candy mound. Eric took notice of this and began to worry that it was something he did.

"Oh god. I'm sorry if I did something wrong" said Eric, in a worried but also nervous way.

Yada could here the worry in his voice and knew that if she didn't do something then he wouldn't get happier. She then calmed down and tried to keep her blush under control. Once she felt her face cool down, she turned back to Eric and said "No. Its not your fault at all. In fact, I don't think theres anything you could do to make me be angry at you, Eric" as she smiled the biggest, most sincere smile she could.

Seeing her smile made Eric's heart flutter at how sincere she sounded.

0000000000000000000000

The two finished up their snacks and decided to do something that wouldn't make them throw up their food. They walked around a little and Eric then pointed to something that seemed like fun. A haunted house or in this case, Haunted Mansion.

"Yea sure" agreed Yada as the two walked over to the Mansion. They walked up to the man, and showed him their bands as they began heading in. It was your typical haunted house. Spooky sound effects, thunder sounds and leaves rustling. They walked down a hall and looked side to side, expecting something to pop out. But they should've looked harder as as Witch animatronic came flying out from the ceiling, scaring the two and making Yada cling to his arm in fear.

Eric blushed because he felt her boobs squishing and consuming his arm but he tried not to think about. The witch disappeared and they continued on, with Yada still clinging to him. Then a giant figure wearing a cloak and holding a scythe came out of nowhere. And you would think that the actor would try and scare them but...

"AHHHH. AKUMA" yelled the actor and disappeared into the darkness of the house. They both sweat dropped at what he said. Eric then began to wonder what Akuma meant since it sounded Japanese.

"What exactly does Akuma mean again" he asked Yada.

She held chin as she tried to remember but then she said "I'm sorry. Japanese isn't my best subject so I don't know. Never mind that, lets keep going" said Yada. He nodded and they continued on.

0000000000000000000000

After getting through the mansion, they made it out and sat down at a table near them. Eric then pulled out his phone, and then typed up the word 'Akuma.'

Yada waited a while for what it meant but she soon saw Eric's face turn sad as he drooped his head as wells his hand holding his phone.

She was worried by this and then took his phone to see it. Eric didn't seem to care as she looked at his phone and gasped.

'Akuma meant 'Demon' in Japanese.'

She then looked at Eric and he was back to being sad again. Toka then began looking back to their encounter with the actor and realized that the man just called Eric a demon. She then grunted in anger that he had the nerve to do that to someone, especially with someone that dressed up like the grim reaper.

She just felt awful. She brought him all the way here to try and make him feel better and yet it wasn't working. She stated to feel down but then she raised her head up.

"Lets just go home" he mumbled as he began walking away, slowly.

Yada's stomach ached at his words. Her plan to take his mind off of Akira and yet it was failing. She tried so hard and it was all coming apart. What could she do?

"NO. I can't give up. I promised that I would make Eric feel happy and I will see it through" she thought. She looked at Eric and he was still feeling down. She then stood up and walked in front of him. He didn't even move at her moving so she knew he was giving up.

Eric just kept this head drooped down as he closed his eyes shut. He wasn't feeling like staying here anymore. He just wanted to go back to his bed and sleep the day away. But then he felt something soft holding him. He opened his eyes to see Yada was hugging him tight against her chest with her arms around his neck and head.

He blushed at what she was doing as he didn't expect her to do something like this. They kept in each others brace for a while until Yada let go of him. Eric raised his head as he looked at her and when he saw her, he didn't know if it was the sun behind her or just her in general, but for some reason her smile seemed..... holy. Like a kindred spirit watching down upon him.

But her smile then turned to a somber one as she said "Eric" making him pay attention at her serious voice.

"I know that this has been a disaster. I know that people have been talking about your face and I feel awful, but I wanted to bring you here because I wanted to make you happy again. You said you wanted to know the reason I brought you here" said Yada, as Eric never kept his gaze off of her.

Yada took a deep breath and said "I brought you here to try and get your mind off of Akira. After hearing all the crap you've been through, it honestly really hurt me that you went through so much pain and suffering that I thought that bringing you here would make all that anger and sadness in you go away, but it seems to follow us anywhere. I wanted to help you be happy like you were before we met Akira and now I've gone and made things worse. So if you're going to be mad at anyone, be mad at me" finished Yada as she held her head down, with a few tears falling down her cheeks.

'I was completely shocked at what Yada was doing. She was saying for me to be mad at her. Just for trying to make me feel better. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. If I'm being honest, how could I ever hate or be mad at her. She's been nothing but nice to me. But I was more surprised at how much as was wanting to make me feel better after my break down after talking about Akira.

He then began to think about to the times they spent together ever since he and the Eds came to Tokyo. She asked about his eye, which was a touchy subject for him and she apologized for making him uncomfortable but he didnt hold it against her. The times they spent on their projects at school or whenever they helped each other with homework. Their time spent at Kyoto, albeit it wasn't the best of times but it was still fun spending time with her. Not to mention, how grateful she was for keeping those creeps off of her and the others. And the way she never left his side after she learned about what Akira did to him.

To Eric, she was what he always wanted for the 8 years that he was labeled a freak. Some one who truly cared about him. He wanted nothing more than to just be loved by others that weren't just his family. Someone on the outside. Someone that didn't run away from him or called him names. He did find that with the Eds but even then, they gave him nicknames but it wasn't as bad as what everyone else used them as. But with Yada, it felt... special to him.

Eric then stood up and wrapped his arms around her, taking her by surprise. Her eyes still stood wide in amazement at his gesture but couldn't help but smile as she returned the favor and hugged him back too.

The two stayed in that embrace for a while until Eric began to move back, which Yada didn't like but did the same, and gazed up at him.

"I don't think I could ever hate you Yada" started Eric as Yada slightly gasped as he continued saying "You've been nothing but nice to me ever since me and the Eds came here. You never judged me based on my appearances. You talked to me, spent time with me, heck even gave up something you could've given to your other friends to me of all people. This was something I thought I would never have gotten again since my broken eye came into my life. Honestly, if anything, I'm more grateful to you than you could possibly imagine" said Eric in a genuine voice.

Yada looked at him in amazement. He was feeling glum a few minutes ago but now he was smiling at her. She couldn't help but smile and blush at his words. She then hugged him even tighter and leaned into his chest.

"That makes me happy, Eric. I guess my mission to cheer you up is working after all" said as she slightly nuzzled his chest.

"Yea I guess so" said Eric as he held her tight as well.

The two stayed that way but then Yada separated from him and asked "So want to go on some more rides. We have plenty of time" as she looked at her phone.

Eric smiled as he said "With you, absolutely."

Yada smiled as she turned around and began pulling him along to the next ride.

'I don't know what it is but she seemed very genuine. The way she always kept trying to be nice to me, her concern for me, how she tried to make me feel better. It was something I always wanted. I don't know why but....

....I feel like I can genuinely trust her. Like its the thing I always wanted to have in the world.....Someone who really cared for me.

0000000000000000000000

Yada and Eric had left the table and went to have the time of their lives for the rest of the day. They went on a lot of the rides. One was like a guitar and spun them in a circle. Eric kept laughing at how it tickled his stomach. Yada couldn't help but feel happy that Eric's spirits were lifting, bit by bit.

The next one they went to was one called the Tornado that was another spinning ride that the riders could do on their own by turning a wheel.

They then went to another ride called the Quaker Shaker that was another spinning ride but way more extreme than the tornado. The riders would sit in a cage and the ride would move up and down but also spun around. Needless to say, they had fun on it.

They then went on one called the Gravatron that was just a big spinning ride that spun fast to where the riders would get glued to the wall, in a sense.

Boy was that a mistake cause Eric came out fine but Yada came out running with her hand over her mouth and then threw up in a trash can. Eric held her hair up so she didn't get puke on it. She was grateful.

Eric thought that maybe they should hold off on riding more rides and maybe try some of the prize stations. After Yada cleaned herself up, she looked around with Eric and then saw one of those big stuffed animal stands, with the way to win was to shoot a target a stuffed animals would rise up and touch the top of a poll, and saw something she found adorable.

"Awwwww" she cooed which caught Eric attention.

"What is it" he asked as Yada kept smiling as she then pointed to the stand and saw a cute, regular sized stuff 9 tailed fox, with red fur, black furred legs, and white ends on each of its tails and muzzle.

"That is just the cutest fox I've ever seen" said Yada in a happy way.

Eric chuckled as he said "But foxes only have one tail. That is a kitsune, a 9 tailed fox. Some hailed as gods in these parts" informed Eric.

Yada was surprised by this as she asked "How did you know?"

Eric rubbed the back of his head as he said "I may have taken some time to learn some things about this country before we came here, just in case we were asked or told something we didn't know about" as he then looked at the stuffed fox.

He gave a slight chuckle as he said "I take that you want that stuffed animal" in a cheeky way. Yada gained a blush on her face as she waved her hands while saying "Oh no. That's not it. I just thought that it was cute....." but then she felt Eric put his hands on her shoulders to get her to stop.

"Calm down. It's fine, I won't judge if you liked stuffed animals. Heck, the Eds have embarrassing things about them but I wouldn't tell anyone a soul about what they are, so I don't mind if you liked stuff animals and want that one" said Eric as he pointed at the fox.

He then turned to the station and said "If you want that fox, I'll win it for you" as he began walking over.

"Wait Eric you don't have to" said Yada but he put his hand up, stopping her and said "Please, Yada. Let me do this for you. It's the least I can do for you trying to make me feel better" as he then put his hand down.

He walked up to the man in charge of the stand. The man turned to him but he jumped back a little at Eric's face. He saw this but he brushed it off since he was used to things like that. He stepped up and showed him his wrist band but the man shook his head no and said "Sorry, sonny. But this is a paying prize station. Meaning, you have to fork over some green to make the scene" as he rubbed his fingers together.

Eric sighed as he looked at Yada feeling a bit down. No way was he going to let her down after what she did for him today.

"Ok, fine. How much" he asked.

"700 yen" said the man.

"That much for a stuffed animal prize" exclaimed Eric.

The man chuckled as he said "Yes it is. If you don't like it, then hit the road. You're hogging up my customers. Besides, aren't you suppose to be at work right now. I'm pretty sure the Freaks tent is down that way" said the man as he pointed his fingers down the way of the path, making Yada gasp and Eric creak his neck, slightly.

'Oh he did not just say that.'

Eric clenched his fist in anger as his face turned to a scowl and a glare.

Yada saw this and didn't want him to start a fight so she walked up to him and said "It's fine, Eric. I don't mind. We can just go."

Eric just turned to her, still scowling and said "No. I'm not going to roll over for an idiot like this. I'm winning you that fox no matter what " as he pointed at the man.

Yada gave a slight gasp at what he said.

'No matter what. Oh Eric' thought Yada, happily.

Eric sat down on one of the seats and pulled out the money and handed him the money. He then had to wait for other kids to join up. Soon some kids showed up and the man counted down from "3.....2...1...Begin" shouted the man as Eric and the others started spraying the target. Eric followed his stuff animal as it went up and up and...

....another kid won first.

"Dang it" thought Eric. Yada was about to stop him but he already pulled out some money and gave it to the man.

So he tried again

Failed.

And again.

Failed.

And again

Failed!!!

One more try but this time, he had a trick up his sleeve. Just as they started to hit the targets, Eric used his secret move and moved quickly, all while never taking his thumb off the button, and pointed up to the sky and said "*Gasp* Look kids its Superman" which made the kids sitting look up in awe that they might see Superman but they all let go of the button and Eric's kept going.

Ding

Ding

Ding.

They had a winner. This time, it was Eric. He managed to win and he got the 9 tailed fox for Yada. The man collected the fox for Eric and gave it to him.

Eric cheered that he won and took it over to Eric. He then walked over to Yada and presented her prize.

He smiled as she said "See, I told you I would win this for you, Toka. Here you go" as he held out the fox. Yada smiled as she took the fox and just stared at it with happiness. She then looked back at Eric and smiled at him as she held the fox.

"Thank you so much Eric. This means a lot to me" as she smiled with a lot of heart.

'It was nice to see her smile too. Was the least I could do after all she's done for me'

0000000000000000000000

It was getting close to supper time and Eric and Yada had figured that it was getting time to head back.

"That was very sneaky what you did back there" said Yada in a cheeky way.

Eric chuckled as he said "Assassination 101. Use whatever methods necessary to take down your target."

"True" said Yada as she kept hugging the fox that Eric got her like it was her favorite thing. But before they left, Yada stopped Eric and pointed to one last ride she wanted ride.

The Giant Ferris Wheel

"Is it ok if we ride this one last" asked Yada. Eric looked at it and then looked at his phone.

"6:14. Sure, we've got some time. We can ride this one last" said Eric. Yada nodded as she and Eric walked over to the ride. There was a long line waiting for the ride but they kept their patience and soon they began going up the ride. They sat on opposite ends of each other as they looked outside of the Ferris wheel. From the top they could see most of Tokyo.

"Beautiful, isn't it" said Yada as she and Eric looked out of the window of the cab they were in. Sunsets were truly amazing. Like you could make a painting out of them.

Eric agreed with what she said and turned to say yes but when he looked at her, he blushed at how some of the sunlight radiated on her face. Her face shown bright in it and Eric couldn't help but be amazed what he saw.

He smiled as he said "Yea it sure is." But as he kept seeing how amazing she looked in the sunlight, he wanted to ask her one more thing before they had to go home for the night.

"Hey Yada" asked Eric.

She turned her head to face him and said "Yes."

"I know that you brought me here to cheer me up after the whole Akira thing, and I'm grateful, but I have to ask. Why would you go so far for someone like me" he asked.

Yada sighed in sadness but so little that Eric didn't see it. She looked back at Eric and said "I guess I did all this because, not only to make you feel better, but because I truly wanted to be your best friend. Someone that you could trust and love" said Yada.

Erics eyes widened as he asked "What do you mean?"

Yada looked out of the window as the ride suddenly stopped at the top. The two felt the cab move a bit but it didn't seem to faze them as Eric kept staring at Yada as she began to say.

"When I was a little girl, I never really had the best luck at making friends. I guess I didn't really bother trying to make them because I wasn't really focused on making friends and just trying to survive school. Plus, the kids at the old school I went to weren't the best ones to make and they kind fo scared me to where I didn't want to make friends" as she began thinking back to before she came to Tokyo.

"But that changed when we took a trip to my grandma's house. She had asked about me making friends but I had told her that I didn't really bother making them. This didn't sit well with her as she began talking about how important it was to have friends. That they were the people that you could trust just as much as your family. Maybe even more so" as she remembered sitting on her grandma's lap as she was amazed at her stories.

"She then told me her life about how she went many places around the world and made many friends. And then she sang me a song that was close to her experiences around the world and how she made many friends and what she had learned" said Yada as she remembered her grandma grabbing her guitar and played her song to Yada.

"The way she talked about the amount of friends she made really amazed me at how much she tried to make friends every where she went. It inspired me to try and make friends but I didn't know how to start. I then remembered my grandma told me that she tried to act kind to others and better than them if they acted immature. So I did and soon it worked. I began making friends and they liked how kind I was. Even had moments of them calling my the big sister of their group and stuff" said Yada feeling happy but then her head drooped down.

Eric saw this and was worried about what was wrong as he stood up and sat over next to her and then asked "Whats wrong."

Yada shook her head and said "Well... all of that changed when I came to this school."

Eric raised his eye brow as he said "What do you mean."

"Well, when I came to Kunugigaoka, I tried to make friends here but they seemed to mostly focus on studies which was fine but even when I asked if anyone wanted to go to the mall or just hang out, they all turned me down to study. I soon became lonely and isolated here. But I did manage to make some friends after a few months here."

"Kurahashi and Hiyame, correct " asked Eric.

"Yea, them, but I realized the truth of this school after spending a year here" said Yada.

Eric was worried about what she had to say as he asked "What happened."

Yada sighed as she said "It was a test day, and I studied hard to do it but soon something happened. My little brother became very sick with an illness that doctors said can be hard to treat" said Yada, making Eric's eyes widen as he said "You have a brother?"

"Yea, sweetest little guy you could meet. Guess that's something we both got from our mom. Anyways, he came down with some kind of sickness and it hurt me to see him down and bed ridden so I stayed behind to try and make him feel better. Like the big sister I've always tried to be. But it seemed the school didn't seem to care about that because they used "me skipping the test" against me and before I knew it, I was kicked to E-class. All because I skipped a test to treat my family. How me-messed up is that" said Yada as she choked at the last words.

Eric was in complete shock. The school had the gall, the nerve, to kick someone out just because they were taking care of their family. This just made him more angry at the school. This just made the whole school system more despicable. He understood that with all the scams they did and ruining their trophy case being the reason for them going to E-class but for her to end up their just because of one skipped test to take care of their family. Truly despicable.

"That is just wrong" said Eric.

"Kicking someone out to treat her brother from a sickness and missing one test. How despicable" grunted Eric as he clenched his hand in anger. Yada saw this but then she put her hand on his, which brought him out of his anger and saw Yada with a worried face.

"Please, Eric. Don't be mad at them. I don't like seeing you angry. It doesn't suit you" said Yada, trying to calm me down.

Eric was surprised by her words.

'Being anger doesn't suit me. What could she mean. I mean, I guess I have tried to be the better person out of the Eds and Eric, trying to be the calm one so I guess when she saw me attack Akira, it frightened her. Guess I did more damage then I thought'

Eric then looked back at her and said "I'm sorry, Yada. Its just, I've been used to life throwing  curve balls at me that I thought I had the most bad luck in the world. After what Akira did to me, I thought I would always have trouble. But I guess I'm not alone. I just wish for once, life didn't hurt me or the Eds. Though mainly me"said Eric but he mumbled the last bit to himself. But with them being in a closed space, Yada heard him.

She sighed as she moved her hand to take hold of his and said "Eric, life has given you a break. I understand that you're in a lot of pain and have been for a long time. I may never know how much pain you've truly been through but you don't have to worry about that anymore because life did give you something."

Eric looked at her as he asked "What did life give me."

Yada smiled as she said "Silly, its the Eds."

Eric raised his eyebrow as he said "What do you mean."

"From what you've told me was that when Akira broke your eye, people always stayed away from you because of how you looked. I can only imagine how horrible that was for you" she said as Eric began to lower his head in sadness until Yada lifted his chin up and said,

"But then you met the Eds. And they were the only ones whoever accepted you for you. And from hearing all the wacky adventures you've been through, it showed that you were genuinely happy. Happy to have friends that really cared. But they aren't the only ones, Eric, that care about you" said Yada as she smiled.

"What do you mean" he asked.

Yada giggled a bit as she said "Its me. Life gave you me."

Eric blushed at what she said as he asked "Wh-what do you mean."

"I never ran away Eric" she said which make Eric's eyes widen.

"When we first met, I'll admit that your appearance took me by surprise but only because I had never seen someone with features like yours. And when I tried to ask what happened to your eye, you seemed angry by it and I feared that I had just made an enemy out of you, so I tried to make things right by apologizing. And it made me happy that you weren't angry with me. And that we could start over. Then when I learned about what Akira did to you, I realized how much pain you were in and what that eye really meant to you that I felt bad all over again. So I thought that bringing you here would make you happy again. Because I like seeing you happy and not in pain."

Eric just sat there in amazement at Yada's speech there.

'She likes seeing me happy. Wow. My whole life no one ever said that to me. I thought I had lost part of the love that I once had before Akira. No one respected me. No one cared. For years, I thought I would never feel that love and care I once had. And yet, she was working so hard to make me smile again. Never making fun of my looks, always wanting to help me in class whenever I needed it or a partner, not to mention she gladly joined my group during our trip to Kyoto. Guess life did give me a break and I never noticed it until now'

Eric smiled at her words and then held her hand as he laid his head on her shoulders and said "Thank you for this,Yada. Guess this truly was what I was looking for" said Eric as he closed his eyes and just hummed against her shoulder.

Yada smiled as she laid her head on his and said "My pleasure Eric" as she closed her eyes.

"Can I ask you something?" asked Eric.

"Sure" said Yada.

"What was the song you're grandma sang to you. Can I hear it" asked Eric.

Yada broke out of her thought as she lifted her head and said "Oh you don't want to hear it. I'm not the best singer" said Yada as she moved her hands back and forth in the "no way" sense.

"Hey, I won't judge you. We're alone. If you're embarrassed by it then I won't say a soul" said Eric trying to change her mind.

Yada figured that since it was just him that It would hurt anyone.

"Sure, Eric" said Yada as she pulled out her phone and played a tune.

(In my life- Beatles)

There are places I'll remember

All my life, though some have changed

Some forever, not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments

With lovers and friends, I still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life, I've loved them all

Yada stopped for a bit as she looked out and began to recall all of the fun moments she had with her friends and her family, all the special moments she's had with them. And all the new ones she's made with E-class. And more importantly, with Eric. Then she looked forward and continued.

"But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

In my life, I love you more

Yada stopped singing as she looked at Eric. He was amazed by her singing. It was incredible.

"Wow" he stated as he finished saying "You sounded great."

Yada blushed at his compliment as she looked away and said "Oh wow. Umm, thanks Eric. That means a lot."

She then turned back to Eric as he had closed his eyes, while smiling. She felt happy that he was happy and knew only one thing.

Mission accomplished. Eric was happy again.

Yada smiled too at how happy he was now as she closed her eyes as she smiled a big smile. She felt happy too. Eric then opened his eyes and looked at her happy smile and he began to feel something in his stomach. Her smile was adorable and very sweet looking.

Yada then looked at him and saw that he was staring at her for a while. She had a slight blush on her face at the way things were looking now.

'I don't know how long we were stuck like this. It felt like an eternity. It was hard not to stare at how pretty she looked. Plus with all the things she's done for me, it added to how much of a nice person she was. Nice person. I honestly thought only my family would ever be that way to me and no one else. For years, I had forgotten the feeling of being loved by someone else other than my family. But I guess I did find love and care. From the Eds. They accepted me for me and they never cared about my looks. I guess Yada's the same. She wanted to be friends and start over when she asked about my eye. But I didn't hate her for it. And it did make me happy that she's trying to cheer me up. Maybe.... this could be the start of something great '

Eric and Yada kept staring at each other for who knows how long but they seemed to not mind it, even if they were both blushing.

Then Yada then smiled as she began to close her eyes and began to lean forward a bit. Eric was panicking at what she was doing. Wait, what was she doing. She kept leaning and soon Eric seemed to calm down and just stood still as she came closer to him. He then closed his eyes as he moved slowly forward too....

KNOCK

KNOCK

KNOCK

'Ah irony, so we meet again'

The sudden noise took them out of their trance and looked towards the window.

"Hey, love birds. Get out. I've got a line a mile long wanting to get on, so get out. Do that stuff on your own time" yelled the operator. Eric and Yada soon realized the situation and soon blushed madly and soon grabbed their stuff and ran out of the Ferris wheel.

0000000000000000000000

After that whole fiasco, Eric looked at his phone and it said "6:54."

"We better start heading back to the station so we don't miss the train" said Eric as his blush was still on his face.

Yada nodded and the two began heading back to the station. They didn't say anything because they were still felt nervous about saying what happened at the Ferris wheel. As they rode the train back, Yada kept glancing at Eric and grumbled at how things had happened towards the end.

The train soon stopped at Eric's spot and he soon stood up but not before Yada stopped him and then hugged him. He smiled at how sweet she was being and soon he hugged her back. They let go of each other and Yada looked into his eyes and said "Don't forget that if there is anything bothering you, don't hesitate to call me or just tell me to come over and I will" as she smiled.

"Thank you for this, Yada. This was exactly what I needed to get my mind off things" said Eric as he let her go and headed to the door and just as he stepped off, Yada yelled "Wait" to which he turned and soon Yada came up and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

This took Eric by surprise as Yada pulled away and said "Keep smiling Eric. It really suits you" as she smiled again but then said "But seriously, don't forget that I'm here for you Eric. Please don't be sad anymore" as the doors of the train then closed and the train began to move away and soon disappeared from sight. Eric just put his hand where Yada kissed him and just smiled.

'I guess life did cut me a break. And it was Yada. She did all of this just to make me happy. She knew how much a sensitive subject my eye was to me and yet she still wanted to be my friend. Hopefully, she won't leave like the others. Who knows, maybe we could be something greater'

Eric kept smiling as he walked back to his apartment.

0000000000000000000000

Yada had made it back home. Her parents greeted her and saw the stuffed fox she got and her mom squealed at how cute it was. Yada said she went with a friend to the carnival and that they won her the prize. She dropped her stuff and went to bed while taking the stuffed fox with her and snuggled with it.

She looked at it and couldn't help but smile at it.

'He spent a lot of money to get me this. It was so kind of him to do so, even though he didn't have to. He won it to thank me for what I was doing for him. How sweet can you get. I wasn't sure if it was true since It had never happened before but today proved it. I do really care about Eric. I liked seeing him happy, just like how he made me happy at times. But all that time, my heart kept fluttering. Could it be true?'

'Could I really be falling in love with Eric.'

0000000000000000000000

Eric soon made his way back to his apartment number and let himself in. As he walked to the fridge to grab a drink. But as he walked over there, he saw the Eds were sitting on the couch and seemed to be giggling as they were looking at Eddy's phone.

Eric raised an eyebrow at this as he then said "Hey, what are you guys laughing at" to which hearing him, made Eddy jump in panic as he ended up throwing his phone in the air, and then hitting Ed in the head as he said "Oww" but in his annoyed tone, as they Eds then huddled close together and smiled an obvious fake smile as they were sweating.

"What are you guys doing and why does it seem like its something I should know about" said Eric in a slight sarcastic tone.

"Oh....uh..... we were just watching some funny videos...." said Eddy, trying not to sound too obvious.

"Yea...of cats..." included Double D as he was sweating bullets.

"...going on dates at a carnival" said Ed, being too obvious as Edd and Eddy soon dog piled on Ed and kept telling him to shush, as they then turned back to Eric and tried to be less conspicuous.

Eric could obviously tell that they were hiding something but he was too partied out to really care.

He then grabbed a gatorade out of the refrigerator as he then made a turkey sandwich and said "Whatever guys. I'm tired so I'm going to bed. See you in the morning" as he walked over to his room door and closed it behind him.

The Eds then sighed in relief that Eric was gone as Double D then said "I can't believe that we just intruded on a special moment for Eric. I feel so dirty" as he grabbed Eddy's phone from the floor and stared at a photo of Eric and Yada on a ride.

"Hey come on. You were curious as well as to how things would go too" said Eddy as he took back his phone.

"How did you even know that they were going to that carnival" asked Double D.

"Just my genius sneaking skills" said Eddy as he smirked at how sneaky he was that day. He saw Yada running after Eric and his curious meter went off the charts. So he snuck his way and hid behind the tree and heard everything.

As Eddy was remembering his sneaking skills, Ed grabbed his phone and began looking at the photos as he then said "Eric looks so happy, It fills me with mushiness, -iness" as he chuckled his normal chuckle as he scrolled through the photos.

Double D and Eddy soon gathered around Ed and began seeing what he was saying. They began looking through the photos they secretly took at the carnival. They soon smiled as they saw how happy Eric was with Yada.

"He seems to be better than before" said Eddy.

"Yea, guess this date was something that Eric needed" said Double D.

"Happy Eric is good Eric" said Ed as they all were happy that their friend was feeling better.

"Are we going to tell him about this?" asked Double D.

"Of course not. We tell him we spied on him during their date and he'll make us scrub the floors at school again even if its not our turn. Or worse" said Eddy as he was worried about what Eric would do if he found out.

"Plus, if he doesn't blatantly see the obvious implication that Yada likes him, we can black mail him to make him see it" said Eddy as he rubbed his hands together.

Double D just sweat dropped as he said "You're mood swings are confusing sometimes" as he looked at the photo of Eric and Yada staring at each other while they were in the Ferris Wheel.

"At least she is making him happy. I think this is something that Eric needs now. He knows that we'll never leave him. Maybe having some who's loves him like Yada does will be a great thing for him" thought Double D as he soon got up and went to his room as the other Eds did the same and went to bed.

Meanwhile, Eric had changed into his sleep wear and had finally laid down down on his bed and laid on his right side and tried to go to sleep. But as he laid on his right side, he then remembered Yada kissing him on the right cheek. But he didn't blush from embarrassment from it but more for how sweet it was for Yada to try and make him feel better. She gave up a ticket she could've given anyone but she chose him instead.

'It made me happy that she tried so hard to make me forget about Akira but if I'm being honest, I don't think I can ever forget what he did to me. Or what he almost did not too long ago. But I know there is another thing that I'll never forget…..

.....The kindness in Yada's heart. Its something that truly wonderful.'

With the happy thought in his mind, Eric slowly drifted off to sleep.

The Eds and Eric were going to need as much sleep as they could get.

In a few weeks, or days, or so, the finals were arriving soon and they would need to cram in as much as they needed to.

{Playing Welcome Back by John Sebastian}

[Instrumentals] The opening of the ending fades into showing the old school building in the afternoon, as the sun was starting to go down.

[Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out] The scene then cuts to show the kids of E-Class packing their bags and leaving. Eddy was asking Double D if he had today's notes, which Double D responded with a smile. Ed was packing his things, before pulling out an old piece of food from his bag and eating it.

[Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about] The scene cuts to show Eric exiting out of the room, only to stop when Yada ran up to him. She asked him something, to which Eric smiled and gestured for her to follow.

[Well the names have all changed since you hung around] The Eds and Eric, Yada, Nagisa, Karma, Kayano, and other students are then shown walking down the street to the train station.

[But those dreams have remained and they've turned around] The scene then cuts to show the doors of a train opening, and the kids walking out of it. They waved goodbye to one another as they went their separate ways

[Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)] The view is then taken to the inside of the Eds and Eric's dorm. The front door opens and Ed runs into the dorm, followed by Eddy walking and tried, then Double D chipped, and then Eric, who closed the door behind him.

[Back here where we need ya (Back here where we need ya)] They are then shown eating dinner in the living room. Wide Eric, Eddy, and Double D ate their noodles normally, Ed slurped up all that was in the one go. This caused the others to laugh.

[Yeah we tease him a lot 'cause we got him on the spot] The Eds and Eric are then shown working on homework.

[Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back] Just like in the intro, Eric is shown brushing his teeth in the bathroom. After a moment, he took the toothbrush out of his mouth and drank a glass of water. After swishing the water in his mouth, Eric spits it out and walked out of the bathroom, heading for his bedroom.

[Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back] Eric quickly came back in and turned off the lights, ending the outro.
