Chapter 9: The Past Haunts Us All

The crowd is as shocked as I am, all of us not sure what had happened. I stand there in shock as medical staff come and take my opponent away. I quickly evacuate the stage and find Nat, I look her dead in the eyes with disbelief,

"What the hell Nat! I specifically said I don't want to fight!" She giggles and looks at me with a sly smile,

"Why try and delay the inevitable? Come on Colt, you're a fighter, a machine meant to beat the asses of others. You can't just sit back and let others push you around, if you do that then you might as well just lie down and eat s**t." I look at her with a light frown, all these people are pushing me to fight but I just want to be normal... A bell rings and students begin to scramble to the front doors, my wrist band reads 1:24. I look for Nat who has disappeared into the crowd and left me by my lonesome. I sigh looking towards the sky wishing for nothing to happen at all, for me to just be normal. As I begin to drift off I feel a dull pain in my chest, a blunt pain that won't go away. I slowly open my eyes to find myself surrounded by three guys that look familiar, like I've seen them before. I feel one kick me in the side where my wound lies, causing me to clamp my jaw and groan. The beating ensues, the three not letting up with kicks, stomps and bashes. I lay there, not wanting to fight and unable to as the three lay their onslaught thick. Everything begins to get blurry, they begin to make my head a primary target as everything slows down. I feel a brutal strike to my head and all goes black. The taste of blood, my own blood in my mouth, a cloud of red that overwhelms me and overs takes me. I feel as if I'm floating in a sea of darkness, all alone and unable to breathe. Escape is futile for I cannot undo the chains in which I've used to ensnare myself, holding me to this level. I can't breathe as I'm suddenly pulled down further into the inky abyss. Everything fades as I look at myself in the mirror, unable to come to terms with the creature that stares back at me. A killer, his hands stained with blood. Some of the blood is of that of evil men, men who had greed and wanted their wrath to ensue on the world but even more of that blood was of the innocent. Blood of those who didn't deserve to die, who should still be alive if not for me. The scene shifts as I open my eyes to find myself in a Snow White field, white for as far as the eye can see. I feel a drop of something and wipe it off before looking at me hand. There on my hand is a stained blood mark, the clouds let lose their fury as more and more of the blood spills down, staining the blanket of snow that was once white but is now stained with my sins, stained with the blood from each of my victims yet all I can do is watch. Unable to move from the spot I reside yet tears spilling forth from my eyes, sobs escaping my mouth. Where did I go wrong, when did I change from an innocent little kid into a cold hearted killer. Maybe it was then as I laid on the ground, looking up into the sky. My body mangled and broken from the fall I had just endured. A fall I wasn't supposed to live through as all grew cold. When I opened my eyes I saw my father, a man of high standards with a grimace on his face, curses spilling from his mouth,

"You damn bastard, why cant you die! You survived that blasted fall and you still have the audacity to look at me with those disgusting eyes like that whore of a woman you call your mother! Keep the hell quiet boy, it'll be over soon. When you get to hell say hi to your mother for me!" A gun shot rang out as I felt the warm splatter of blood against my skin. Crimson red filling my vision as the body of my father was now missing a head and fall onto me. I let out screams of pain as the man's weight crushed some of my bones, everything started to go black again, pain numbing my body. I remember having a dream, a dream about me constantly falling, never hitting the ground till finally splat. I hit the ground, tossing me from my dream and back into my broken body. I was unable to move, pain gripped me as I let out a scream and began to cry. Nurses and doctors rushed in to try and calm me, unable to pump enough pain killers into me. Finally, all became quiet, the pain had stopped and my will was shattered with my mind. I had faded from reality and into a deep sleep, unable to endure what I was going through. Another dream engulfed me, It was pleasant. I had my family back, just me and my mom. Before we went to that building, before I met my dad. The dream seemed to last forever before It all came crumbling down and I slowly awoke from my dream, everything a mess in my head as I frightened a nurse. She began to scramble around calling multiple people into the room but I only took notice in one, the one that wore all black and seemed to have no face. The group of people began to poke and prod me, testing vitals, taking blood, making me better. Finally they all left, all but the man in black who wore the hat.

"Boy let me start off with giving my condolences. You may be young but I know you're smart, your daddy was a piece of garbage and you didn't deserve what he had done to you. Like I said you may be young but you're smart, I'll be taking you with me on my travels as my heir. I'll take you with me, I'll teach you everything you need to know as well as keep you safe but what I do isn't what you'd call pretty or nice. I kill people for a living and it just so happened that your daddy was my target. When you get out of here we will be leaving, the doctors said you'd be a cripple on account of the brain damage, the broken bones and the rods in your spine but I know better. Sleep well kid, it'll be one of the last times you sleep without nightmares" The man patted me on the head as I quickly passed out.... Maybe it was then when I first started to paint these white fields red with the blood of others... maybe then I should have died..... Or maybe that's when I first started living.....
