Arriving in town

A teenage boy, tattered clothes with a fancy black sword was walking through a field with a girl walking beside him. The girl seemed only a year or two younger and was wearing pristine white and blue clothes, with beautiful gray hair. If anyone was looking at them they'd think that the girl was walking with her slave through the fields but on closer inspection that assumption would be clearly crushed. The girl was making large hand gestures and talking loudly and the boy was clearly laughing and enjoying himself as well. If anything, they looked more like a big brother listening to his little sister's animated story.

"....and then, My Grandad took his blade and said to the man challenging him 'courting death? She's not my type. Why don't i introduce you two instead!'" Luna took her staff and pointed it like a sword towards Tom, clearly reenacting the story she was talking about vividly. She'd even mimicked a gruff voice trying to be manly but all it did was make her sound like a grumpy old man. Tom started laughing, clearly enjoying the scene.

"That was hilarious, your family is insane!"

"I know right? and you won't believe what happened next..."

A couple of days had passed since both the 'skills demonstration' and the coaching incident, with the duo learning a lot about each other. Tom now had respect for Luna's strength, although she seemed more a kid sister to him than a fearsome warrior now with all the trouble she got to. Her advice - although borderline ridiculous at times - seemed pretty reliable when it came to weapons and combat tips so he began to pay attention to those and ignored the rest of what she had to advise much to Luna's disappointment.

Likewise, Luna had a newfound appreciation for Tom's dedication to his family and town and viewed him as already worthy of being a Hero, even though he barely listened to much of what she advised. He was also pretty knowledgeable of the world she was currently in and was quite reliable as well.

Like the time he made a bridge for Luna to cross over a river and not get her clothes wet, even though she could have pretty much leapt over in a single jump. Or the time he had protected her from eating poison ivy when she had assumed it was a life extending herb. (Why would an immortal even eat that!). Their partnership had evolved into more of a friendship these past couple of days and instead of hero training for the day, Luna had decided to tell famous stories about her family before they had become immortals. Of course she made sure to change a few things so that it wouldn't seem too impressive but Tom was already having a hard time believing most of it even though he was enjoying the tales.

Whilst they were talking, Luna's eyes opened wide and she excitedly pointed in the distance whilst shaking Tom's shoulder. "Look, Look a town! We finally made it!" Luna was excited at the prospect of finally seeing a Terran town. Camping was fun, but setting up the Tent was something that was a nightmare for most expert born-immortals let alone a young cub like her! Even reliable Tom would fumble for a while with the metal rods before giving up and sticking the tent canvas on 4 wooden poles and going to sleep. The Dao of camp setting was indeed too terrifying for those 2 to attempt!

Of course, Luna and Tom had separate tents. Despite her dirty joke a few days ago, Luna was pretty much tame and would never do anything as lewd as sharing a tent with a boy. Binge reading her family stories though had made her an expert at saying inappropriate things she didn't understand well, much to the anger of Tom who would go big brother mode and shut her up. But now, she could visit a town and finally sleep on a real bed without worrying about setting up tents or bugs and anything of that type.

Tom had been contemplating the next steps after reaching their first checkpoint when he started getting violently shaken by Luna. He gazed straight ahead and saw it, their first checkpoint! The town would be great for getting supplies and information on what's been happening everywhere else so he could plan for the Knight School examination. But there was a barrier before he could get that far.....HE WAS DEAD BROKE. He had thought that maybe Luna would have some money, but after asking if she had silver or gold coins she had just looked at him with a cute expression and said no. (Of course she's broke, Why else would she give me such a precious sword if she could afford to pay me back). Maybe he could find a job or two to accomplish at the town and make a quick buck to cover their expenses before setting off again. (Oh well, that's another issue for another time)

In less than an hour, they were already close to the town gate. A few carriages and wagons were being drawn by horses through a large wooden gate. The path they were walking on had seized to be that of dust and grass, but had become increasingly lined with stoned leading up to the path. Ecstatic, Luna started dragging Tom forwards towards the gate at an alarming rate, skipping as she did so. As they entered through the gate, a scene was unfolded before them. Wooden stalls of all shapes and sizes littered the wide open space they had come through and hundreds of people were walking to and fro the stalls, occasionally glancing at the goods. Of course the place where Luna came from was a city itself, but she had never seen so many people gathered in one place buying and selling goods in the open air. To her, seeing more than a few dozen people on the street was a surprise seeing as the planet she was from had a really small population in the first place. She was enchanted by the scene and wanted to visit and see everything even though Tom was firmly holding her hand to stop her from rushing off.

"Hey, have you heard? Apparently a few miles from here a Moon goddess was spotted"

"Moon Goddess?"

"Yeah, I heard she could float in the air and casually walk on clouds"

"I heard one breath from her can destroy an entire town!"

"I heard, she has the shiniest white hair you could ever see and she has the wings of an angel"
