We Holding Hands

Huh ... So boring today. I’m on vacation at my grandfather’s house, it’s not really a house, more like an old ancestral castle. This castle has been standing since two hundred years ago, and until now still standing firmly on the hill. Very typical of the old castle position that is always imagined.

My grandfather’s name was Enzo, he was almost eighty years old, and he seemed strong enough to do some ordinary activities, such as gardening, repairing electronics, or driving, still looking the same as fifty or sixty.

This summer vacation, I was on vacation alone, my parents didn’t come with me, they were too busy with their respective jobs. Luckily, there was a grandfather who sometimes told me a cool story that made me laugh. Either way, I really love my old grandfather. Grandpa even though he looks strong on the outside, sometimes some nights he still becomes an old man who needs special care.

“Grandpa, I’m going to go shopping first, what do you want grandpa?” I asked seeing the food stock in the refrigerator was almost exhausted.

There are actually a few maids working here, but I might as well go for a walk. The maids here are so nice to me, they should be or they won’t get their job. And there’s a nurse who comes here every day to check on grandpa, her name is nurse Dory, takes very good care of grandpa, better than anything I can do.

“Why should you go? Where is the maid in this house?” asked the grandfather who was now watering the grass in the front yard of the castle. All the plants here look very fresh all, very well maintained.

“I just wanted to take a little walk, you might as well have a look here before I go back to school. What do you want Grandpa?” I asked once again already taking my bike out of the trunk.

It’s an old bike that Grandpa fixed up, and now it looks very strong to use.The bike model is simple, with a small basket in front of the bike, then there is also a bicycle bell, and most importantly a rear seat.

“Buy me a cigarette, I haven’t smoked in a long time,” said Grandpa, not smoking the usual way nowadays, but using his cigar pipe. The tobacco in the cigarette, Grandpa took out and put it in his cigar pipe. Very classic.

“Okay.”

Riding a bicycle while enjoying this trip feels happy. Even though I don’t have any friends here, but I feel like traveling alone like that. This vacation was quite enjoyable, because I found a good place to relax for a while.

My grandfather’s garden, I already said that my grandfather really liked gardening. The gardens in the castle are only part of the gardens he owns, here in a place with cobblestone paths, grandfather has a rubber plantation managed by my father, actually this is an inheritance for my mother, but mother has no interest in this kind of thing. In addition to rubber plantations, there is also a corn garden located at the bottom of the hill. Then in the castle, grandfather also planted several types of plants, such as mango trees, orange trees, several types of flowers, and many more that I don’t know what they are called.

Too bad, I fell asleep in the rubber garden after going shopping. Grandpa must be worried about me why. Immediately I rushed back to get my bike, but strangely some of the groceries that I bought earlier disappeared. The white bread, milk, and soda I bought, all that was left was half of the other soda. It’s strange, if an animal takes it, how can an animal know how to open a bottle cap.

Without caring anymore, I’ll be right back. The night here is not like in the capital city which is filled with street lights. It’s dark in here, the road is not very visible, luckily my bike has a small light in front, it can be a light for now.

“Where have you been?” asked Grandpa who was waiting for me in the living room while reading the newspaper, I don’t know what he was reading.

“Sorry Grandpa, I fell asleep in the garden,” I answered honestly.

“Hahaha, just like your mother. Clean yourself and then we eat,” said Grandpa not angry at me, instead laughing like nostalgia. I didn’t even know that my mother had also come home late because she had fallen asleep in the garden. I really don’t know much about my mother. My mother rarely spoke to me, in fact everything that had to do with me was left to my nanny.

I went into my room, immediately cleaned myself and put on clothes. I exited and headed to the dining room. Grandpa in his favorite clothes, waiting for me to eat. This dinner was the same as usual, although grandfather sometimes admonished me to eat the way I should, without the sound of a spoon touching the plate, this was difficult for me.

“Eiryana my granddaughter. Grandpa is old, next time don’t come home like this at night. I might lose my life because of worry,” said Grandpa saying worry in his own way, I’m used to it.

“Sorry Grandpa, the air is nice in the garden, the wind is cool. I didn’t realize I was sleeping,” I replied to my old, but not senile, grandfather. Then I remembered about the food I bought. “Grandpa, are there any wild animals in the garden?” I asked starting another conversation.

“Finish your food, we’ll talk after eating.”

I might have forgotten if I didn’t say it now. But come on, I don’t want to disobey. I finished my food, and helped clean the dining table here. Even though I’m the host, I’m still working, because what else can I do if I don’t help.

Grandpa had gone back into his private room to smoke, while Dory’s care was preparing medicine and checking some things related to my grandfather. I’m not familiar with nurse Dory at all, only know her by name. Nurse Dory looks like a person who likes to be angry, there are a few things that are not according to her wishes, she is angry at the maid, even though she is not a host, she just orders.

“Miss Eiryana, don’t disturb your grandfather, he must sleep early,” said nurse Dory not knowing that I had made an appointment to talk to grandfather.

“But you haven’t given him medicine yet, have you? Grandpa only went to smoke,” I replied with a look of disrespect. Once I don’t like people, it’s hard to change that feeling in me.

“This kid!”

Nurse Dory said bad things about today’s children, she said it was annoying and it passed down to me as a child born today. It’s not like I was born in this day and age, or at least I’m still young so I can say today’s child. “No wonder you haven’t got a partner yet.”

I entered his private room, knocking on the door of course. Grandpa saw me and asked what I wanted, then I said I wanted to talk about what I wanted to talk about earlier.

“Isn’t that strange Grandpa? How can a wild animal open the bottle cap and put it back into my shopping bag. Obviously it’s a human, Grandpa should re-examine Grandpa’s work. Stealing is not good, even if hunger or thirst is like that. “

“That’s not my worker. Today they are off, no one goes to the garden.”. Yes, I didn’t see the people in the garden, it was just me.

“How can it be an animal.”

“It’s not an animal. It’s something you can’t imagine.”
