Protecting the idol

2 Days later,

Stepping off of the bus, it was early in the morning, around 5 in the morning, as Gyun looked up at the massive building in front of him whose polished and clear windows reflected the sunlight, and the top of the gigantic building sat a sign reading 'Sunni Entertainment' in English, which stood out among the rest of the Gagnam business buildings.

It was next to many other buildings so it blended to an extent with the environment, but 'Sunni Entertainment' was the largest entertainment company within the K-Pop world. Despite being only established four years ago it was the biggest within the scene every single idol group it produced would always be successful and enter the Asia top Billboard Hot 100 at some point.

They had strongarmed their way into the market despite the number of competitors and already well-established companies, and they used their influence to control several media corporations and the news outlets they already owned to increase brand visibility.

They even went as far as blackmail and extortion using drugs and prostitution to lure idols and promising prospects to force them into a contract with their company, though that was in the early days. In the past few years they had been more amicable with their treatment of idols after a brief expose was released on their treatment of the idols contracted underneath their company.

But after the reporter was killed and the article was deleted and erased from the internet, public opinion eventually subsided. Sunni Entertainment improved their idols' contract benefits, treating them as royalty to compensate for the poor treatment and prevent the poaching of both talented talent and employees to other companies after their contracts would expire.

Of course, the only reason Gyun knew this was that he had interrogated and killed the original director of the South Korea branch who had been embezzling and not performing up to standard. After he had received the mission directly from the top of the organization and in the process, he learned that they had no official name. They were often referred to as 'The Black Sun Syndicate' since the managers who worked under the directors often wore black pins on their lapels to identify themselves as management.

He also found out that above the Directors were the Presidents, though he had no idea if there were any above Presidents, but he assumed so since the one he met used plural instead of singular when referring to himself. But regardless he was offered the director position after killing the director proving his skills, but he rejected the offer as it would mean reporting to someone.

Especially as the Director was less of the leader of the South Korean branch and more or less just the head of security for the president, who ran the country's branch along with the neighboring country, Japan, who also had its director who took orders from the President in charge of the region. Gyun had met the Japanese director and Gyun gave him a danger rating of 87 out of 100.

In the end, the position was given to Kumiho;. However, Gyun struggled to some extent against the original Director, he didn't sense the same threat from Kumiho, and despite her not being quite director-level, she was more capable than any of the other candidates within Korea.

And under the Directors were Managers who were usually either highly skilled individuals from a sort of combat sport or ex-special forces. Regardless, the Managers would manage a province within the country and report to the director. Then, below the Managers were the Supervisors who would run gangs; essentially, Supervisors led separate small cells of criminal organizations. So virtually, the Managers would ensure profits and use the Supervisors as enforcers. At the same time, the Presidents would do the same, using the Directors as the grim reapers of the organization who would cull any traitors.

Though this did not affect how the Black Sun Syndicate's president treated him, he was already well established as one of their best independent operatives on par with or stronger than one of their Directors. Though Gyun was sure he could kill a director in a one-on-one he could at best kill two at once if he was willing to risk dying and he was more than sure he would die if he were to fight three at once. Though this was all based on fighting the former South Korean Director and his brief meeting with the Japanese Director, it didn't speak for the 18 other Directors worldwide.

But that was beside the point, Gyun stepped through the building's doors, revealing a strict security policy as their were a pair of metal detectors with chains condoning off the lobby. There were a group of four security guards in blue shirts with black vests with the words security written on them, a baton hung from each of their waists.

The President, who was in charge of the South Asian region, had given Gyun the unique white pin with gold trim. It was a Director pin though it was honorary and gave him no real authority to use the Black Sun Syndicate forces or resources beyond just some of their low-level grunts; it allowed him access to nearly all Syndicate businesses he wore it on his sweatshirt as he kept his hood up, though the guards likely didn't know the meaning of one who wore such a pin they knew that such a person was to be treated as a VIP.

The guards tipped their hats, letting him through the metal detectors, cutting in line, and didn't stop him, despite the detectors going off. Keeping his mask up to his nose, he ensured his hood was low; the goal was to keep a low profile and monitor the idol group's security in and out of the buildings.

Gyun walked to the reception desk. The receptionist glanced at one of the security guards, and they exchanged a pair of knowing looks. Before the woman finally turned back to Gyun and greeted him, "Hello sir, I see you have a VIP pin. Have you visited our company building before?"

Sipping his latte, which he'd picked up from a nearby cafe, through a straw under his mask, he sighed in pleasure.

-damn this is good- He took one more sip before answering as the receptionist stared at him trying to keep the annoyance of his lack of an answer from her face.

"No, I'd like someone to accompany me to find one of your idol groups since I have business with them."

The receptionist smiled, "Mr.VIP may I ask which of our groups you are looking for?"

Gyun sipped the latte again before setting it down on the reception desk before reaching within his sweatshirt pocket and pulling out a crumpled paper with poorly written words. His arm with a cast sat across his chest as it was in a sling, he grabbed his latte again with his drink, sliding the paper across to the receptionist as he took another sip.

The receptionist tried to keep the smile on her face, but her smiles brightness faltered as she tried to read what he had written.

Gyun looked up at the ceiling avoiding the receptionist's gaze and staring at the lights hanging in the lobby, -not my fault, one of my arms broken and the other's got nerve damage-

He noted how modern and white the lobby was, with white walls, white marble tile floors, and white lights along with the white suits the receptionists were wearing.

Gyun glanced at the other people sitting in the lobby a majority of them looked pretty young, and though some were older they were all more attractive than average. Gyun guessed they were either hopefuls or less important contracted actors or talent. The man behind Gyun sat impatiently groaning as the woman stared at the paper Gyun handed her.

After a minute, the receptionist confirmed the paper's contents, "So you're looking to observe Embrace's day-to-day activities?"

"Yep, that's what the paper says," Gyun said as he avoided the receptionist's glare and took another sip from his latte.

"Well, unfortunately, Mr.VIP, due to their popularity, they have been given their dormitory in Gangnam by our company, a few minutes from here."

"Hmm, where can I find then where can I find them?" Gyun retook a sip from his latte but it made a loud slurping noise as the cup had gone empty. He opened the cap to look inside as the receptionist responded,

"Well, sir they come in every day to practice or work on creating some new songs, so they should be arriving within two hours to start their daily practice so you can just wait here if you want to, or I can have someone guide you to our staff break room and we can have someone notify you when they arrive."

Gyun looked up from the empty cup "...I'll take the second option",

The receptionist smiled brightly as she turned to her phone and called someone, briefly talking to them before hanging up. "OK I just informed one of our interns to come down and take you to the staff recreational room, if you can just take a seat, they'll be here to show you around within a few minutes."

"Thanks" Gyun pulled up his mask down slightly as he leaned across the reception counter, the womans heart pounded a little bit as her cheeks flushed slightly.

-What the hell does this guy think he's doing even if he's a VIP this is harra-

"Is that a trash can?" he pointed to a small bin behind the receptionist

"Uhm...yes, why?"

Tossing the empty coffee cup at the trash bin, it bounced off the lip of the trash bin, "shit...can you put that in there for me, please"

"excuse me?" The receptionist's ears were gradually turning redder,

"Put the cup in the trash for me, please"

"Uh, yes sir"

"Thanks" and with that he turned on his heel and walked around the lobby to find a seat,

2 hours later,

In the nice staff breakroom that was quite large, it took up nearly the entirety of the 12th floor and had some actual color to it with turquoise walls, a few televisions and video game consoles and even a few soundproofed rooms with beds to nap in if one wanted to.

Gyun sat in the corner of the relatively quiet breakroom lying down on an oversized beanbag chair, he was watching a video on the basics of boxing and the different styles as well as their advantages and disadvantages.

With his earbuds in his ears, he listened so intently that he didn't notice the intern who had led him up to the breakroom talking to him until he was tapped on the shoulder.

Turning off his video and pulling out his earbuds, he turned to the intern who was just as young as him, maybe even a little older, the young man was holding out his phone.

Gyun sat up groaning as pain shot through him, he had been lying down since his leg had been hurting and he'd been feeling bouts of nausea every time he moved, as well as a sluggish feeling present throughout his entire body. The doctors had told him that he was to do no exercise whatsoever for at least two weeks, and he had stayed true to their advice, he hadn't exercised at all the past few days.

"Sir they just arrived a few minutes ago"

Gyun's eyes opened and closed slowly as if he was half asleep, it was one of the effects of a concussion after the first few days of recovery. Gyun was familiar with the feeling of concussions, fighting for ten years in melee combat had the habit of getting your head bumped pretty hard. "Hm, let's go and meet them then."

As they had taken a few steps and reached the door of the break room Gyun paused, the intern was confused as he nearly ran into Gyun.

"Um, did something happen sir?"

"Yeah, didn't you say you'd get me a latte?"

The interns eyes widened as he panicked, "Yes sir, sorry sir!" he hurriedly scrambled to the in-house cafe that the breakroom sported.
