We Are The Walking Dead

Well written, but could use some better formatting to transition scenes. Its also rather unclear in the beginning that the main character is female. I don't find polaris a very feminine name, my guess is that it's unisex. As a result I was disappointed at first thinking that it was yet another Yaoi fanfic of the walking dead, which seems plagued by the sheer over whelming volume of them. Luckily it was a girl this time which is still a bit weird because if this is anything to go by, women read way to much into pretty much anything men do or how much data we actually process. The avarage guy doesn't register more than half the signals spammed by the girl in the story irl which makes it a bit funny at how distorted women's perceptions of men really are. Add to it that its the zombie apocalypse, which is secretly the wet dream of a large portion of the male populace as we finally get to leave our cubicles and go prove how badass we are and such signals are even more lost on us. The sheer amount of times I hung out with various friends and the question of 'what would you do if' and then an apocalyptic scenario being presented over a beer is truly breathtaking. So as a result, its extremely entertaining to see the contrast by what are no doubt repressed guys living out there dream and acting all serious about it, and some chick who was part of a research team being all angsty and sexually repressed. That said. The angst of the girl and the fact she hasn't really changed anything in the story thus far isn't my cup of tea. When writing a fanfic, I find it important for an insert t either step up the game or change it all together. In essence the self insert is a bit like Carol later down the road which doesn't add much when compared to Canon. I'd have also loved to have a summary / synopsis to read before reading the fic on the fics about page. I do think the fic has potential thus far, and I'm only at just after the cdc blows up, but it needs to drastically deviate from canon to become more than a passing interest to read when all my other followed fics are caught up with... Food for thought I guess.
