Chapter 15

" Why are we not chopping their heads off? " Harvard inquired, " You didn't even bring the sack to carry their heads. "

Back at Beacon when they were preparing for the raid, Tor announced that they were going to bring a sack full of decapitated heads with them, but now there was a sudden change of plans.

" Professor Ozpin requested me to not do that. " Tor replied. " As it was unnecessary. "

" That's it? " Harvard was gobsmacked at his reply, " Ragnarok must have arrived my fellow Vikings! Never have I seen that the day will come when a Warlord from the Krig clan, would willingly follow the orders of an outsider like a dog. "

" I suggest you seal that mouth of yours Highlander, or I will do it for you. " Tor threatened, " Currently, we are mercenaries and like mercenaries, we will obey what our employers tell us to do and note that they are watching us. " he pointed at the camera attached to his helmet by a headband strap. They all had one attached to their helmets.

Ozpin and his comrades wanted to see for themselves how much proficient these Vikings are. Well, the one who proposed this idea was Ironwood himself.

The General along with his comrades were sitting in Ozpin's office as they watch the Vikings doing what they do best through the cameras. But some problems did not escape their sight.

" Ozpin, why do these two seem very hostile towards each other? " Ironwood asked upon hearing the conversation between Tor and Havard.

" These two seemed as if they never wanted to be banded together and would gladly kill each other if the opportunity arrives. " Glynda remarked.

Ozpin gave a tired sigh, Tor and Havard, a Warlord and a Highlander. One was a clan filled with inhuman warmongers the other was a clan filled with heartless butchers. These two were never on good terms with each other. After centuries of war and conflict, their hatred for each other did not diminish instead it grew like a blazing fire, a fire that was very difficult to put out.

" Their clans were at war with each other for centuries and their hatred for each other is deeply ingrained in them. " Ozpin explained. " The amount of violence and bloodshed these young men had to grow up with is not something we can ever imagine... But it's those experiences that will enable them to do things we cannot do. " Ozpin took a breath, " Well-trained, loyal and combat-ready mercenaries with a vast experience in every type of warfare. "

" That is understandable Professor. " Ironwood nodded, " I just hope that they don't ever backstab up. Because, of the way you depicted their people, I do not want them anywhere near Atlas. "

" I can understand your worries General, but you have to trust me. These warriors have a code of Honour and honour is everything to them. "

Back at the White Fang warehouse, the Vikings had come up with a plan to put down every Faunus in this warehouse.

" I have spotted at least 20 Faunus in that building, " Ragnar informed after gatherings information from the large storage rooms that they were going to raid. " regarding how many had their aura unlocked, I can safely assume to be at least half of them. "

" So. " Harvard turned to Tor, " You still want to subdue them without killing any of them? That will be tough you know. I am not really a fan of choosing the harder option if an easier alternative is available for me. "

" We will do as ordered. " Tor was very stubborn with his decision, " If you don't want to do it, go fuck yourself with that Claymore of yours. I don't need people who can't even follow simple instructions. "

"It's tough to win these kind of arguments with sociopaths like you. " Harvard gave up. " Alright, what's the plan? "

" It's simple actually. " Tor answered, " We are lacking in numbers, and are on enemy territory. So we bring the fight in the dark. Guerrilla warfare. "

" I have some questions. " Olaf interrupted, " Aren't they supposed to have night vision or something? Fighting in the dark seemed to be counterproductive to me. "

" Just because you're born with night vision doesn't mean that you are proficient with it. " Tor recalled these words from his older brother. His brother's words were always true and it was not like he had never fought in very dimly lit areas before.

" Besides who said that we will fight them head-on? "

The clock produced its usual chime, symbolising that it was now Midnight.

Alfred Taurus was reading a report he just received regarding the supplies of the warehouse, it was already so late as it is, and he did not want to trouble himself anymore and just want to relax in his comfy bed.

" Why is there such a low amount of dust rounds this week? didn't we receive another batch from HQ at the start of this week? " He glared at the Faunus who brought him the report.

" Sir... about that. " The Faunus fidgeted nervously and receiving a glare from Albert made it worse. " The suppliers got attacked by a pack of grim. "

" And you're telling me that now? " Albert raised his voice in anger. The Faunus kept his gaze down not daring to look at his enraged boss to his face.

" That's it get out! Get out of my office right now! before I slice your head off! " The Faunus did not waste any time as he ran away from the enraged bull Faunus.

Albert rubbed the raging headache he was having, these underlings were all useless, incompetent and most importantly weak. He didn't sign up for this.

" Become the boss of a secret warehouse he said, It would be fun he said. That was all bullshit! " Albert grumbled. " He could have at least given me some competent underlings, but no! he gave me the most useless and spineless people he could find. These rejects- "

As he brought about more complaints, the fluorescent lighting in his office began to flicker on and off, and then darkness engulfed the entire room.

" Great, more problems. " Albert opened his scroll, someone had messaged him.

" Sir, there has been a problem with the electricity supply, the entire base has gone dark. "

" Then fix it damn it! " Albert growled his temper was reaching the boiling point. How useless can these idiots be?

" Y-yes sir! I'm on it. "

The warehouse was big. Obviously, that was one of the main reasons they choose it in the first place, it had enough space to store enough weapons to start a small war. And it was this big space that was annoying the two Faunus who were sent to inspect the Warehouse's generator.

" Man I don't like our boss. That Asshole! " The Faunus hissed.

" Carl you better be careful with that mouth of yours. " Another Faunus warned him.

" Or what Jack, he would fire me? " the Faunus named Carl spoke back, " You know what, he could do that right now. I'm sick of this shit! "

" Geez, did you miss your daily cup of coffee or something? "

" ... " Carl looked at Jack with a " you're kidding me " face.

" Sorry, it's just that boss has eyes and ears everywhere. I don't want you to end up like Bob. "

" I know. " Carl said in a sad tone, the memory of Bob being put down by their boss was still fresh. Their boss was a psychopath, he doesn't care what happened to his average underlings, all he cared about was wanting an elite force and going off to punish the evil humans like some anti-hero. And here is where the problem lies, apparently Albert had some very bad experiences with humans during his early adolescence his hatred towards them was deeply ingrained in the physical and mental scars the humans had left him.

Carl was sympathetic to the hardships he had endured, he could understand his hatred towards the very species that took his sister's life away from him, but he could not understand why he dislikes weak people so much. His dislikes extended to his fellow Faunus as well. If they were weak, one can see an irritated scowl directed towards them. He looked at them like some dead weights that needs to be removed.

" Enough of that sob story, let's check the generator first before the boss put a dust round between our heads. " Jack broke the tense atmosphere with a chuckle.

" Yeah. "

The flashlight provided an additional extra vision for them to navigate through the darkness, they walked for a few minutes before they stood before the generator. It was dust-powered, electric dust to be exact. It was shaped like a large metallic box with dials, switches, and a lot of large cables.

" That's not supposed to be there right? " Jack nudged his partner, who stood shocked at the sight before his eyes.

The Generator has been torn apart, and despite its metallic constitution, its outer protective cover was slashed open by what could be a large blade. Electrical sparks were flaring from the shredded cables

" How the fuck are we going to report this to the boss? " Jack asked knowing that if this sight was to be shown to Alfred, the Bull Faunus was going to be very angry.

" This is bad... someone has infiltrated our base. We need to report this to him immediately. " Carl immediately took out his scroll and began contacting Alfred.

" Fuck, why is there no service here?! " Carl hissed as the call was cut. " That is what happens when you put your base outside civilisation, DAMN IT! Jack give me your scroll... Jack... Jack!... where the fuck are you? "

In the darkroom that was illuminated only by the flashlight in his hand, Carl began to panic as he could not find his partner. " This is not time for your stupid jokes. " He looked in every direction even with the illumination provided by the flashlight, he could not spot him. The generator room was also used as a secondary storage area and the crates that were stacked at a safe height of five feet did not help at all in searching for Jack.

Despite the belief that all Faunus have night vision, it was in fact a myth. Not all Faunus were blessed with this gift. Take for example a sparrow Faunus, sparrows have weak night vision to the point it's basically useless, and for Carl who so happens to be a Sparrow Faunus, it was as grim as the darkness that surrounded him.

CRASH

" Jack is that you? " Carl asked as he turned to the noise, turns out it was just a crate that had fallen from one of the stacks. " Jack, I swear if I find you you'll be sorry. "

Carl navigated through the stacks of crates not knowing that a pale ghost-like figure was stalking him with a psychotic smile plastered on its face. As the shadowy figure came closer and closer Carl felt an ominous presence he didn't know where it came from but he could feel it and it was giving him goosebumps.

The ghost-like figure moved itself closer and closer towards Carl, extending its hands towards his neck. It was dangerously close, but at the last moment Carl turned back and faced the ghost-like figure and froze at the psychotic grin it gave.

" W-who are you? " Carl demanded, " Stay away from me y-you intru-" A sharp pain originating from his neck froze him completely, his eyes became heavy and he slumped down to the cold floor.

" What did I tell you about not playing with your food. " Tor scolded the ghost-like figure.

" And where's the fun in that? " Harvard replied with a smirk, " I like it when they tremble in fear before I twist their neck in the opposite direction. " He released a satisfying sigh, " Those were the good old days. "

" And that's why everyone stays away from psychopaths like you. " Tor said.

" I can't really help it, It is hereditary. " Harvard shrugged, " Besides isn't it ironic that people stay away from you instead of me? I doubt you would make any friends in Beacon with that intimidating face of yours. "

" I don't really want to brag, but I actually have a friend in beacon and it's a girl. " Tor could have smirked at the surprised look on Havard, that is if he could.

" You sure didn't blackmail her to be your friend? " Harvard inquired, " because either she's crazy or she's just stupid. "

" I suggest you don't insult her if you want to keep that mouth of yours. " Tor snapped, no one should insults a girl like Velvet, she is too kind-hearted and pure for that. His short conversation with her was enough to prove that she is a very nice girl.

" Sheesh, overprotective I see. " Harvard chuckled, he is well aware of the traditions of the Torden clan, and women in general are a very important topic there. Well in Hedninger, women especially pure ones are regarded as Valkyries gifted by the All-Father himself, and respect is something you must give to them.

But for Havard, that doesn't really apply to him. Being a Highlander, he was not a Viking. And the only reason his kind worships the Norse pantheon is because they promised them strength and power. During times of war, any help can be useful, especially if they proved to be helpful.

" Let's just regroup with Olaf and Ragnar, they should be done by now. " Tor said as he picked up the unconscious body of Carl and Jack.

" Yeah. "
