11 Chapter 7

The way the killer maintained the killing pattern and it's organized by placing the victim's body can be the only solid clue that the polices can refer to. Other than that, the police only can depend on the interview towards the victims' family and their contacts. Unfortunately, there is no exact information that can be retrieved from the information. All of the interviewees only give passives answers which leads to them met the dead end.

Turning the screen off, Inspector Nick pinches his nose bridge trying to soothes his head and eyes. for the past four hours, Inspector Nick can't even find anything which makes him feel more irritated. He had tried to find new clues by looking at the result from the lab and the picture of the body, although the forensic had determined the chemical's name, Inspector Nick still can't detect the source of it due to its huge range.

Even the pharmacies had been searched thoroughly and the result was still negative because all of the chemicals that been sold to the various buyers, and when Officer Kim came knocking their door to do some investigation, he found out that there is no relationship between all of them while some of them had never known the victims at all.

Looking at the notebook, Inspector Nick finally closed it and called it a day off to his assistant. Packing his things, Inspector Nick walks out of the room heading to the café to find something to eat. In the elevator, Inspector Nick still wanders off thinking about the case, sensing the elevator door open, Inspector Nick stands with a straight back giving his senior a nod after looking at the familiar face.

"How's the case? Have you found anything?"

The senior is one of Inspector Nick's superiors who is in charge of the cases. After appointed Inspector Nick to lead the cases, he had waited for further information from the inspector, however, the team still got no new clues that can help with the cases.

"Not yet sir, we try to review all the information that we had gather and do another screening to find any loophole."

"That's not good. You know there are so many pressures from the family's victim right, we have to at least get something to soothe them. Only by then, we can continue with peace."

The pressure not only disrupts the cases, but it also bothers the hire up. Knowing that there is still no progress, the man with spectacle shakes his head gently. If it only involves a normal person who had no background for sure the cases won't be tough to this extent.

"Understood sir, don't worry my team will handle this quickly."

Just then after Inspector Nick ensures his senior, the elevator's door opens sending them to the ground floor. Nodding his head, Inspector Nick excuses himself and heads to the café with his head throbbing slightly. Although all of them facing the same pressure, it still can't be compared with how big the pressure is when it comes to him. Handling a murder case is not easy especially after the higher-up butt in.

Sighing, Inspector Nick walk to the waffle stall and order one waffle with a coffee. Paying the bills, he walks out from the station and heading to the hospital to meet Dr. Sherry who had run the autopsy. Since the hospital is quite far from the police station, Inspector Nick decides to take his car with him and drove it straight to the hospital.

The town can be seen in peace even though there were two murder cases that happened recently. To peace-making Inspector Nick questioning himself about the way the Oakstead people's lives. Stopping at the traffic light, Inspector Nick's eyes wander around looking at his surroundings. Looking at the group of people who laugh in front of the old library, Inspector Nick's eyes stop at them watching the teenagers. After that, his eyes stopped at a figure inside the library, a girl who stood unmoved at the window.

"Honk!"

Looking at his front, Inspector Nick shifts his gear moving the car ahead. His mind was blank, thinking about the girl's behavior, standing at the window watching outside unmoved, triggering many questions popping out inside his head. Shaking his head, Inspector Nick continues focusing on the road. Fifteen minutes later, he parks his car at the hospital parking lot. Locking the door, Inspector Nick walks himself into the hospital.

The hospital is full of people since it is time to visit the patient. Bypassing them, Inspector Nick stopped at the counter asking for the whereabouts of Dr. Shery.

"Oh, Dr. Sherry is currently inside the lab performing an autopsy."

Smiling, the girl who works as a nurse answered Inspector Nick's question. This is the second time the girl saw the Inspector.

"May I know where is the lab? I would like to discuss something with her."

"You can go to lab number twelve on the second floor. Dr. Shery is there."

Giving his thank, Inspector Nick walk to the elevator, pushing the up's button he waits there patiently.

While at the autopsy's room on the second floor, a woman dress in a white coat is currently doing her work trying to gather as much information as she can even though the reason the boy died was due to lung cancer. Full of concentration, Dr. Shery checks the boy's head with her hands writing something on the notebook.

The other doctor who works with her also doing the same thing looking at the dead body's upper body that had been pry open. Every day they will encounter a dead body who dies due to illness, accidents, and murder.

Since investigating a dead body is Dr. Shery's passion, she had learned and taken the exam until she is being honored with a doctorate in the forensic specialist. It took her one hour to finish the autopsy, taking her mask off, Dr. Shery washes her hand and her face before walking out. Taking off her coat, she meets the Inspector who stands in front of her after listening to the door being open.

"Do you have time? I would like to discuss something with you, about the case."

Looking at the doctor, Inspector Nick quickly tells her his intention. It had been half an hour for him to wait in front of the room which makes him anxious because of the waiting. He thought he would not make it to discuss with the doctor because he still needs to go back to the station.

"Sure, let discuss it in my room. Shall we?"

"Yes, sure."

With the doctor taking the lead, Inspector Nick follows behind closely afraid that he will delay the precious time. This is actually his fourth times meeting with the doctor who had run the autopsy on the two victims. Since he knows that Dr. Shery is a great doctor who had many experiences, Inspector Nick can't wait to discuss with the doctor what he had thought and suspects on the case.

Yes, Inspector Nick actually had kept on thinking about the case and the loophole that he had to try to figure out from the case which had caused them to meet the dead end. However, he still needs to discuss it with the doctor since all he has are assumptions that he retrieved from the recording and some information from his senior. The way the higher had to keep on encounter pressure make him think of something that might be a turning point that will lead his team to a new discovery.
