9 Chapter 5

March 12.

Walking down the street, Anna keeps her mind wander around towards her future. Since she had to keep her money to build her future by doing research on how to achieve and where she can continue to live by the time she finishes her degree, Anna always will check her bucket list over and over to ensure she is in the right track so there will no space for any variables came in between disturbing her plan.

The most unbearable for Anna is when her plan failed due to her lack of responsibility or when she allowed others to interrupt in it. Since she walks out of the mansion, she had promised herself to not recognizes those people including her parents although there are still some sweet memories that remain in her box of memory. Although Anna wishes to erase the memories from her mind, a part of her is still unwilling to let go of the happy moments that once exist making her life full of happiness.

It's true that the memories only for short period, nevertheless these are the memories that keep her accompany throughout the bad days for the past years. Anna is aware of her situation, with her dad hates her, while her mother disappears without any trace, for sure she needs to hang onto herself because she only has herself to live with and if she abandoned herself there is no more thing that can help her stood steadily facing her days. The thing that makes her realized she no longer had placed inside the family was when by the time when her father no longer believed her.

The most respected person who once sits at the top of her heart turns out to be the one who breaks her heart the most, make she always questioning her existence to the man who raised her.

'I think there is no place that can welcome me unless I make it by myself.'

This is the only thing that she holds onto, making her own place where she can live freely without being pointed out as a weird or freak girl by others. But this place can only be made when she can achieve all the things inside her bucket list.

Saving all the money that she gained through working as a part-timer, she was finally able to stable her goals. Since money is the most important thing on earth, Anna tries hard to get paid. Before she started to work at the library, Anna had done many odds jobs where she gets to experience a lot of obstacles just for the sake of getting eats. Fortunately, she gets to live in an apartment where she can have a rest from the hectic days.

Arriving at the entrance of the apartment, Anna walk bypasses the guard with her head low. The guard who long ago knowing her personality just ignores Anna by continuing to monitor the screen. Everyone who lived in the apartment knows about her existence, it is just that no one seems to want to pay attention to the girl. Climbing up to the second floor, Anna takes her key off from her bag before unlocking the door after she reaches the door.

"Anna? Have you eaten your dinner?"

Suddenly a sweet voice comes from her right side. The middle-aged woman who treated Anna like her own daughter stood a couple of feet off from her while holding another steel lunch box.

"Good evening sister Jane. I've eaten my dinner"

With a small smile, Anna greets the woman before answering her question. With her long bangs, the small eyes that squinted a little due to the smile were hidden and can't be seen by the middle-aged woman. The middle-aged woman who knows Anna's character can't help from releasing a small sigh remembering her late daughter who is also a senseful girl. She can't help from feeling a slight pain, knowing how awful the girl life is without having anyone to depends on, Sister Jane walking with her smile on her face.

"Then you can eat this while you're studying. I happen to give everyone this dish for dinner, since you already eat, then you can keep it as a late snack. This is not a heavy meal at all, take it alright."

Sister Jane pushing the steel box towards Anna. Seeing the girl quiet without giving any words rejecting her kindness, Sister Jane smiles and bit a good night before walking to where she had come from leaving Anna who still wanted to deliver her thanks but was unable to do so.

'She so kind to me.'

Anna closed her mouth while thinking about Sister Jane's kindness. From the very start the both of them met until today, Sister Jane always treats her with love and care. There is no single day without Anna getting something from Sister Jane. Locking her door, Anna walks in after turning the lamp on. With her smile still hanging on her face, Anna suddenly remembers how she should reject the give from the middle-aged woman as she planned in the class.

Putting her bag down, Anna squad while putting the steel box in front of her. Her eyes look in a complicated mood, sometimes it will feel with thankful, and the other times it will be full of fear. The room fills with stiff air, even the cicadas afraid in breaking the silence. After five minutes, Anna's stomach growl fiercely, when she said she had eaten her dinner it's all lie. However, after looking at the tender smile on Sister Jane's face, Anna received it without words, and now the entanglement inside her heart disappears after the growl sounds.

Open up the cover, the smell comes out filling up the room. After thinking for few seconds, Anna takes out the spoon and eats to her fill. Since she only ate two buns for lunch, her stomach had been continued rumbles begging for food. Looking at the food inside the first container, Anna suddenly shed some tears, her eyes becoming more blur due to the tear. For the past years, she only could eat decently with the help of Sister Jane, and even today's dinner is full of nutritious dishes which at the first container contains fried meet and one chicken wing, while the second container contains salads with mustard dressing and the final one which is the third container fill with a vitamin drink with apple flavor.

The more she thinks about Sister Jane's kindness the more her eyes feel with tears. Although she had long for the kindness, Anna still knows that she needs to live in the reality, so she won't be caring away by the sweetness that she knows it will be temporary. Putting all the containers on the floor, Anna sips a drink soothing her dry throat before she starts eating her dinner. Eating until all of the dishes are clean, while Anna is busy eating and thinking for the words that she needs to use to reject Sister Jane's kindness, a pair of dark eyes continues watching the girl.

For the first time, the pair of dark eyes show it's tenderness while bending in the dark shadow, the pair of dark eyes continue to monitor the girl who sits on the cold floor while eating the dishes. Although there is no way for people to read the dark eyes, at this time only one word can be described on the eyes which is cares.
