We Are Legends: Prologue

A flash of silver fur darted among the stars, unaware that it was being watched. The werecat came to a halt gazing up at the brilliant glow that came from the stars above. He stared in awe at the crystal that gleamed nearly 200 meters above him. It cast a blinding orange and yellow glow, seeming to outshine the stars around it. He crouched low to the nonexistant surface he stood upon and leaped into the air, a pair of flawless feathered wings sprouting from his back. His formidable wing propelled him upward at a rapid rate. It only took him a few seconds to reach the radiant gem. The size of it surprised him. It 'stood' at around 15 cm tall and had a width of nearly 7 cm. It was absolutely stunning. The werecat hesitantly hovered closer to it, the wonder in him quickly transforming to fear. The power that the crystal possesed was beyond his understanding. An attempt to harness or take control of it could have devastating effects. But, if he could use the power...it could help him and his friends tremendously. Was it worth the risk though? He reached out with his paw and grasped the crystal. For a moment, nothing happened. Everything was still. Suddenly, a flash of blinding light pierced the cosmos before everything was consumed by darkness. Panicked, the werecat tried to release the crystal and move back, but his body would not move, no matter how much he willed it to. The crystal dimmed and disappeared. All that could be seen was a pair of glowing red eyes in the darkness.
