13 Freebie

"My name is Lucas Hei. You can call me Luke." He offered his hand for a handshake to which she accepted it.

"Nice to meet you, Luke." She replied with a small smile on her lips.

Lucas grinned at her, kinda looking like a cat's grin which she found cute. He didn't release her hand when he held it, instead, he looked at his hand while he was holding it. "What's your ring size?" He asked while staring at her delicate fingers.

Ring size...

It reminded her of the day when Jason proposed to her and as she was reminded by it, the smile on her lips became stiff. "I don't know? I actually never tried finding out."

Violet decided to distract herself by looking at his hand, compared to hers, his hand was big. It even looked like he was holding a child's hand.

"I am serious with this marriage thing you know." She said once again. She wanted to make sure that he really was taking her up in her offer. "I need a man to introduce to my family and marry so I'm hunting for one right now." Aside from that, she wanted to use someone to distract her from her first love's betrayal

"What a weird woman, right?"

She knew that she was doing the wrong thing but what could she do? She was not going to sit around and wait for another man to enter her life. She has to take the first step.

"Indeed." He agreed at what she said. "What a peculiar one." He added. He actually didn't mind taking up her offer. In fact, he was searching for something new in his life, and maybe she could give it to him? He looked at her and smirked a bit. "What do I get in return?"

She sighed inwardly. Was Lucas really serious? She still couldn't believe it.

Oh well, since they were both there, might as well go with the flow. She looked back at him, giving him a cheeky grin, "A limited-edition me and a cute child as a freebie?"

He laughed a bit at her remark, "But the freebie is shared by you too. Shouldn't the freebie be exclusively mine?"

"No way." She pouted. "The difference is you're the freebie to me you know, so our child is definitely not a freebie to me." After she said that, Violet, herself became confused about what she just said. She ended up chuckling because of that. "Ah, this is really weird."

Lucas couldn't agree more. He slightly shook his head in amusement. She truly was a weird but fascinating girl. "Judging by the way you demand, you actually don't care about who you will be with, do you? As long as he can provide what you need."

The side of her lips was stretched into a straight line since she couldn't really deny what he just said. She turned away and looked at her drink. She wrapped her hand around the glass and took a sip from it.

What should she say? She hasn't really thought about it since everything was on the spot. The only part where she thought about was marrying someone, having a child, then making her grandpa happy. It was simple in her mind but actually harder when she put it in action.

"Well, let's hear what you have in mind then," Lucas said, breaking the short awkward silence between them. "What kind of freebie will you give me?"

"Well..." She paused to think, "I'll give you one of my babies instead. I'm pretty sure you'll get along with Virus. He looks like you- Ah wait... I can't give him away, I'll miss him." From grinning the expression on her face quickly changed. She looked so troubled all of a sudden.

He raised a brow, "Are you seriously going to give me a virus?" Was this woman crazy? "Since when did dying became a freebie?"

"Virus may be mischievous among all my children but I think you'll get along well. You won't die taking care of him. Do you want to see him?" She grinned again, her eyes seemed to sparkle every time she introduced her cats to others. She placed the glass on the counter before she took out her phone and showed him her wallpaper; four cats were sleeping beside each other. "I just got Virus last week. This black one is Virus, this white one is Slay, this orange baby is Misery, and this grey is Cream. My children are so cute, aren't they?"

Lucas was caught off-guard since he wasn't expecting that she was actually talking about cats. He really thought that she was sick when she mentioned 'Virus' earlier. "The last name seems fitting but the first three..." He paused just to look at her. He chuckled a bit, "You're really an odd one."

She blinked a few times and tilted her head to the side, "Am I?"

Her grandfather always said that the names were cute tho...

"Anyway, are you really going to agree with me?" She asked again. "Don't worry, you will still be free to do whatever you want. I just need a husband in name and a child. A real, human child. My grandpa never approved of... having cat babies."

"Still though, cats can be jealous creatures. The moment you have a child, they can massacre the kid."

"Massacre is a strong word," she pouted. She crossed her arms and defended her furry babies, "Cats don't really care you know. I'll keep them in check once I have the child."

"Also... If you ended up falling for someone else in our marriage or if you plan on seeing others, I won't really mind it. Just tell me, I prefer if you tell me than keeping it from me. Just like I told you, you can still do whatever you want. I will not hold you back. It's not like we have feelings for each other. This is going to be a loveless marriage so seeing others is fine if you happen to love someone else." She was being honest right now since it was better to tell him these just in case he might change his mind.

"Hmm... I quite get the picture of your idea now." He cupped his chin, thinking carefully after hearing her words. "How long do we have to do this?"

"A year. You can divorce me after but our child is staying with me. If you don't want a divorce, that's fine as well. I don't want my child to grow without a father. I will give you all your rights as a father, divorce, or not." It was only reasonable to do that, at least that was what she thought so. "If you have something that you didn't like just tell me, we can come into an agreement if we talk about it."
