chapter 2

The sun was already setting when I finally stood in front of my front door.

Heckisch, I rummaged around in my bag and desperately looked for my house key.

I was reluctant to ring the doorbell and wake my mom because she sleeps during the day and works at night as a barista in a nightclub. She should still be sleeping right now.

She needs sleep.

She works so hard to keep us both alive and with food, water, and a roof over our heads. And since my dad left before I was born, I never had one, so from the beginning, it was just me and my mom.

Feeling guilty, I rang the doorbell.

A few seconds later, my mom opened the door for me.

She was already dressed and smiling at me.

"I didn't really want to wake you up, but it looks like you got up early today."

I said to her.

"Oh, I'm full of energy today and couldn't sleep."

She grinned, and we both gave each other a quick hug, and then I went to my room.

I threw my backpack in a corner of the room and grabbed the book on the nightstand next to my bed.

It was a fantasy book about a girl who was taken to the world of dragons and is now trapped there, and she doesn't know how to get away.

Trying to find a way home, she is captured by dragons in their human form and brought to the dungeon of the palace.

There, she starved because no one cared for her, and despair spread through her.

However, the princess of the land, who was, of course, a dragon, found the girl down in the dungeon and fell head over heels in love with her at first sight.

Secretly, she freed the girl and helped her find a way out of the dragon world.

But when they found out how the girl could finally get back home, the princess told the girl that she could never leave this world because she was a dragon.

That meant the two had to separate.

I always found the end the worst because they found the princess and tried to kill her, but that only robbed her of her dragon form. Despite the fact that she was now human, she still couldn't leave the dragon world.

They never saw each other again, but they loved each other forever.

I cried every time I read it, and I cried a lot because I was reading this book for the 10th time, and I was still hoping that I wouldn't have such a tragic love story.

Then I went to sleep.
