Jade frowned. She had expected that he would at least ask her what she wanted to eat. She did not expect to go so far as to discuss the menu together but, at the very least, to have her opinion being considered.

Ron hurriedly explained himself as if he understood her inner thoughts: "Sorry that I did not ask for your preferences but there is only one kind of meal being served here"

Her frown lessened as one of her brows raised curiously. She heard of such restaurants. They were so poor that to make sure they did not get under, they restrained their menus. Still, she did not expect to be taken to such a place.

She proceeded to look around at the other tables and confirmed that they indeed all ate the same kind of thing. And they all seemed to enjoy it. However, she was not quite certain of what it was. She asked Ron: "What is it?"

Ron stated: "It's called 'Raclette' and is apparently a very old dish from way back. Basically, you have some meat, some potatoes and grilled cheese over it. It's really good, you'll see"

He smiled at her. He remembered the first time he came here. The owner asked him what he wanted to and he asked for the menu… The owner laughed at him as he took out a pen and wrote on a paper towel the name of the dish. It was something he did not know and never heard of before. Intrigued, Ron asked him about the dish and the owner happily told a tale of eons ago… Ron had been mesmerized by the fact that a dish could survive for so long, even after men left their planets and explored worlds.

More than anything, it was delicious. And he was certain that Jade would think so too.

It did not take long for the chef to come back with two plates filled with a mix of meat and potatoes and dropped them in front of each of them. He made another trip and dropped a small burning machine and a plate of cheese next to it in the middle of the table. He exaggeratedly bowed as he said: "Milady, Sir, enjoy~"

Ron answered in a similar way jokingly. It brought a smile upon Jade's face. She was not sure why but she found this guy's silly antics quite funny.

After the chef left, Ron took out a small part of the burning machine. It looked like a mini-shovel. He looked at Jade before picking two slices of cheese and placing them over the shovel. Then, he sent the shovel back inside the machine and explained: "You have to burn the cheese yourself here. That way you can have it however you like"

Jade nodded and, in turn, did the same. As she placed the shovel in, she asked: "How long should it take?"

Ron stated: "Only a few minutes at most. It heats fast. Here, look, you can still see the cheese inside. Once it starts to inflate, it means that it's ready"

Jade nodded again.

And they waited for a bit. In silence this time. It was not awkward though. Both of them were expectantly looking at the burning pieces of cheese.

Ron's were done first and he took the shovel, showing it to Jade first before dropping it down onto the plate. The warm cheese covered the meat and potatoes.

Ron waited for Jade to do the same before they both wished a 'Bon Appetit' to each other and dug in.

Jade loved it.

The warmth of the cheese, the freshness of the meat and the crispiness of the potatoes…It made for a succulent mix. She was impressed. Such a simple dish made with cheap ingredients…yet it was delicious.

Both of them ate till there was nothing left.

And once done, Jade admitted: "It was good, you were right"

Ron smiled brightly as he told her: "I'm glad you enjoyed it"

He left her for a moment to go pay the chef who warmly saw them off, wishing them a happy night.

As they walked, Jade asked: "So, what should we do now?"

Ron asked her back: "How about some dessert?"

She made an awkward face as she said: "I'm not sure, I already ate quite a lot there…"

Ron chuckled and said: "Don't worry. I know a good place where that won't matter"

She would usually have rejected such an offer. She truly ate too much already. But since it was him and he had been on point previously, she decided to trust him once more.

She was led to an ice cream parlor. Once more, it was a cheap shop that was only a few square meters. There were not even any seats for people yet, from time to time, a passer-by would stop there.

They did too.

Ron, along with the shop owner, introduced the many different available tastes to her. In the end, she picked strawberry. Ron asked her what else she would have liked to try. She answered blueberry as she was quite the fan of these kinds of fruits.

He picked that flavor stating that she could have a taste of both that way.

Once they had their cones, he led her to a small park that was only a few dozen meters away and slightly hidden. She lived in this city since she was born and never knew there were these kinds of places.

They stopped at a bench as they enjoyed both ice flavors together.

Whether it be Ron or Jade, they were having a sweet and enjoyable time.
