4 Not as easy as it looks

Jared's POV

As I was looking at the still water around my legs, I felt a vibration in my pocket. I understood that someone must be calling me but this completely broke any kind of concentration I had and the next wave almost hit my tracks. I quickly took a few steps back and pulled out my phone.

'Ryan Calling'

'He was one of my classmates whom I hang out with daily' I remembered from Jared's memories.

I picked up the phone and before I could even start the conversation I heard a girl's voice shout at me through the phone

"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN IDIOT? I HAVE BEEN CALLING SINCE MORNING AND YOUR PHONE WAS TURNED OFF. WE HAD TO CANCEL ALL OUR PLANS FOR TODAY"

I wanted to justify Jared's absence as well as the phone being powered off but I heard another voice on the phone.

"Give me the phone back Maya. Don't bite his head off without even giving him a chance to explain. Why do you two have to always fight like rabid dogs? Ughh...Jared...Jared you there?"

"Uh...yes Ryan" I answered hesitantly.

"You didn't come to school today...everything alright?" Ryan asked.

"Yea just had some fever this morning so couldn't even leave my bed. I guess Aunt May must have turned off my phone so I can rest."

"WHAT? YOU HAD A FEVER? Did you go to the beach alone last night and catch a cold because of that?" The same female aggressive voice blasted through the phone.

I just took a deep breath to control my temper and said "No Maya but I am at the beach now...I feel perfectly alright...it must be viral fever."

"What kind of idiot goes to the beach after waking up from a fever? hmph" Maya said haughtily.

"The kind that doesn't care what you think. I am going home now...will see you tomorrow in school"

"Wait...we can come there....hey Ryan don't snatch the phone from me....Jared, we'll see you tomorrow...Maya spare him at least one day, will you?" After a back and forth between Maya and Ryan the call got disconnected.

"Jared's friends are not a complete mess. At least Ryan seems somewhat sensible." I said as I rolled down my tracks and started walking back home.

I wanted to explore the neighborhood a little more and even meet with Jared's friends to see if they were going to be of any use but the sudden situation with the water turned everything upside down.

I wasn't to disappointed since I came to this world since many humans have achieved a lot here without having any kind of superpowers but now that there is a small chance of me having one, I can definitely get into the entire Avengers mess confidently.

My last resort was going to be becoming a sorcerer but I wasn't sure if I even have the talent for it as Ned did in the latest Spiderman movie.

While thinking all this I reached home. Aunt May, who was sitting on the couch working on her laptop looked up and asked "You just left an hour ago...how did you come back so early? Did your fever return?"

She was about to get up and check me for fever but I immediately stopped her and said "No No Aunt May...actually it was very sunny outside and I felt like I needed a shower so I came back. I also need to go back to school tomorrow so I need to study as well."

Aunt May who was already half standing sat back down on the couch and said "Alright freshen up and do what you want but if your body heats up again, I won't be sending you to school tomorrow."

"Got it Aunt May" I waved my hand as I entered my room and closed the door behind me.

I looked to the side near my bed and saw that Peter's bag was still there. I wanted to explore it so that I can know what was happening with Peter right now but I curbed my curiosity and entered the shower.

As I looked to the side I saw a bathtub. I filled it with warm water and allowed by body to relax in it. After all the shit I had gone through in the past few hours, I deserve this.

I saw some droplets on the edge of the bathtub and decided to try something with them. I held my hand at some distance in the air above those droplets and tried to lift my hand up a little.

I expected some kind of movement from the droplets but there was no movement. That's when I realized that the sensation I felt when I walked in the water at the beach had gone. I couldn't feel in on my body even when I am submerged in it neck down.

"Maybe it was a one-time thing and now I need to recreate that feeling by myself." I thought as I closed my eyes and tried to feel the skin on the palm of my hand and surely I felt the sensation within seconds. I was so focused on the feeling on my skin that I didn't open my eyes and when I did boy was I surprised.

Not only the droplets on the edge of the bathtub but even a quarter of the water in the tub was floating mid-air in the form of droplets.

"I DID IT" I shouted in excitement which broke my concentration making all the water fall back in and around the bathtub. I immediately put my hand on my mouth as if trying to imprison those loudly spoken words but they had already reached the ears of Aunt May.

"JARED...WHAT ARE YOU SHOUTING ABOUT? I TOLD YOU KIDS TO KEEP IT DOWN WHILE GAMING." Aunt May shouted from outside my room.

I got out of the bathtub and creaked the door open and said "Sorry Aunt May I just got a little excited."

There was no reply for a few seconds but then I could hear her footsteps going back to the hall which made me sigh in relief.

I looked back at the bathtub and said "I will need to spend the next few days practicing in here or else I might end up making a joke of myself out there."

As I was saying this my eyes shifted to the mirror in front of me. I looked at my overall body and realized that I will need to exercise or might not have enough strength to even run away in certain situations.

In my past life, I was versed in fighting hand-to-hand combat as well as guns nor have I shied away from killing. I may face problems replicating the same things here since this body is weaker and more rigid than my original one. I first need to get in good shape and even create a good amount of balance between strength and flexibility.

The rest of the day I just spent at home either practicing water bending or just browsing on the internet and reading the news. Organizations like Sheild and Hydra are too advanced and if I search for the wrong thing on the internet then they might start to monitor me. So the only way now is to either watch all the news for supernatural things or just search generic stuff like aliens, magic, Iron Man, and all. Something that a 15-year-old will be fascinated by.

Throughout the day even though I practiced multiple times, the best I could do was join small droplets together by thinking of it but the moment they crossed the size of a baseball, the entire thing would drop on the floor. This happened plenty of times and after the 6th time, I started feeling a little tired.

I guess I also have a limit, but I need to find out how to push it slowly. Peter never left the house and just stayed in his room studying. While all this was happening, there was chaos going on somewhere else.

3rd Person POV

An office somewhere...

A man was sitting in a big yet simple office. The entire city was visible behind him through the windows but the man showed no interest in admiring the scenery. In front of him were a few files with a few names written on it

Tony Stark

Steve Rogers

Dr Bruce Banner

He was currently reading the file of Bruce Banner when there was a knock on his door.

"Come in" the man said putting the file to the side with the rest of the files revealing an eyepatch.

As the door opened a man in a black suit entered the room and closed the door.

"We have received an unusual signal Director Fury." the man said.

"Phil, what made this signal so unusual that you had to come to me?" Directory Fury asked.

"According to our satellites, the signal appeared for a microsecond but it was 100 times stronger than what the Tessaract has. We believe the source must be just as powerful." Phil Coulson answered. He was the most trusted man Nick Fury had so there was some credibility to his words.

"Where did the signal originate?" Nick Fury asked.

"Since it was just for a microsecond, we couldn't pinpoint the area but it occurred in queens that is what we can tell right now." Phil answered. While he was talking with Director Fury, Phil had already sent dozens of agents throughout Queens to look for the source of that signal.
