New World

Arius slowly opened his eyes, only being met with a powerful light that instantly blinded him. He immediately closed his eyes once again, and threw his arms up to cover his face.

"What the heck…" he spoke aloud, but immediately put his hands over his mouth at the sweet, high-pitched voice that just came out of his mouth. He stood up quickly, slowly opening only one of his eyes as he looked around before opening both of them. To his immense surprise, he found himself in the middle of a small clearing, surrounded by a thick forest. He began to turn about, inspecting the environment around him. Birds gently chirped above, and he could hear the rustling of leaves all around him.

He then looked down to inspect himself. He very quickly realized that he was now much closer to the ground, his body and limbs infinitely smaller and shorter, and that his voice no longer matched what he had expected when he spoke.

"I…" Arius paused at the ridiculous voice that was coming out of his mouth. "I need to find a mirror" he continued aloud, wincing at each word that excited his mouth, made audible by his new high-pitched voice. However, at the mention of the word 'mirror', one began to materialize before him. He could only stare at the item, absolutely astonished. However, his astonishment for the mirror was quickly replaced with astonishment over his appearance. He took a step forward, and began to inspect himself.

His body was covered up by a set of rather nice clothing. A black suit shirt with a red vest covered his upper body, while a pair of suit shorts covered down to his knees. A pair of high socks covered half way up his shins, and a pair of slip on shoes covered his feet. Setting aside the rather strange attire he had on, he began to inspect the actual physique of his new body.

"I… can't be any older than 10 now!" Exclaimed Arius in surprise as his eyes widened. "And I'm… so small." He began to pat around his body, feeling it with his hands. His face was cherubic and soft looking, and the rest of his body seemed no better. He looked scrawny, his arms and legs thin and weak looking, and his chest and abdomen was flat and skinny looking. Nothing surprised him more than his new stature though. He began to size himself up as he attempted to figure out how tall he was now.

In his attempts to figure out how he could figure it out, an idea popped in his head. He looked the mirror up and down as he contemplated.

"Can…" he paused for a moment once again, contemplating if he was just crazy. "Can you display measurements, mirror?" He asked in an inflected tone, lowering his voice slightly. After a moment, the mirror began to warp and change as measurements ran up the side of the mirror, going up to 5ft. Measuring himself up against the mirror, he quickly figured out his new height. "4 foot, 5 inches." Arius spoke to himself in disbelief.

Arius took a few steps back, slowly sitting back down on the ground, and began thinking about his current situation. Thinking about what he had become. As he pondered, he quietly raised his head and stared at the mirror. He slowly put out his hand to the mirror, palm open. He stared for a moment before he gradually began to close his hand down. With each movement his hand made toward closing, he could see the mirror begin to warp as the frame bent, and large cracks began to form across the glass.

"Holy crap!" he called aloud as the once tall, wide mirror was crushed into a tight pack of metal floating above the ground, glass scattered underneath it. He stared at it for a moment before pulling his hand back, placing back at his side. In an instant the ball of crumpled metal fell to the ground with an audible thud, crashing as the glass beneath it was crushed as well. He stared on in disbelief, his mouth slowly opening to form a wide, gleeful smile across his cherubic face.

Standing there, he slowly turned about, looking at everything surrounding himself once again. Countless thoughts began to run through his mind. What types of powers did he really have? What was he capable of? What were the limits of his powers? So many thoughts raced through his mind at once, with the same wide, gleeful smile holding on his face. He came to a gradual stop as he sat back down.

"What am I?" question Arius out loud, in hopes of receiving an answer back. To his disappointment, he got no answer. He sat in silence as he contemplated things. As he sat there, he stared on at a large tree in the distance. As he stared at it, a random idea came to him. "Die." muttered Arius to himself as he stared.

In only a few moments, he noticed that the bark of the tree began to rot, branches and leaves fell off, and the tree began to slowly wither away. After only a few seconds, the tree collapsed, withered and broken. He looked on at it, quickly jumping to his feet. He slowly approached and stopped in front of the now collapsed tree. He stared down at it, astonished that the simple utterance of a word could do something like that.

After a moment, he turned around and ran back to the crushed mirror at the center of the clearing, ready to further test whatever it was that he was capable of doing. With a smile, he stared at another tree that sat on the edge of the clearing. He stared at his hand for a moment before lifting it up and thrusting it, open palmed, forward at the tree. A force seemed to move forward, hitting into the tree with great force, crushing part of the tree inward on itself. He threw his hand out once more, another loud thud crashing into the tree, crushing in part of it once more.

Staring at the damage tree, he raised his hand once more, gently curling his fingers. He watched for a moment as he saw finger-like marks indent into the tree. As he stared at the tree, he began to slowly lift his hand up. Every movement that raised his hand higher, he could hear the ground being pulled on and ripped away as the tree began to shudder. After a few moments, the tree began to tear out of the ground. Parts of the tree began to tear off, the roots beginning to expose themselves. In only a few minutes, he was holding a tree a few feet above the ground. As he held it up, examining it, he aggressively slammed his hand closed to see what would happen.

Just as quickly as his hand closed, the tree was violently crushed in half with a loud crunch. Both pieces immediately crashed back onto the ground with loud thuds. Arius approached the two halves of the tree, still amazed by what he could now do.

"What else can I create?" Arius spoke out loud to himself as he turned away from the broken tree, and back at the crumpled ball of metal and broken glass that was once a mirror. He gently placed a hand on his chin as he began to contemplate what he should attempt to create next in order to test the limits of his power.

"Smartphone…" muttered Arius under his breath. "Gimme a smartphone." he said again as he thought about what he wanted. After only a few moments, he could feel the weight of something in his hand. He looked down at his hand, astounded that with a simple utterance and thought he could create such a complex object. He attempted to use it, but quickly found that it was useless due to a lack of service. With a pouty face that matched his new childish appearance, he threw the object onto the ground.

As he stood there, another thought popped into his head. Though he decided to test simply thinking of what he wanted, rather than having to call it out loud. As he stood there, he thought of the word Map in his head. To his surprise, nothing materialized in his hands, and instead appeared in an unexpected way. Swirling particles began to form into a digital-like screen close to his face. It detailed the forest around him, nearby mountains that he couldn't see, and named an unknown location nearby. He took a step backward, but the map followed him.

He then took a step forward, the map remaining stationary this time. He gently tapped at the map over the forest, attempting to see if the map could be touched. To his surprise, a secondary menu formed off to the side of the map. It detailed the name of the forest he was in, what type of tree and plant species could be found here, as well as what type of animals could be found in the absolutely monstrously sized forest.

Looked the information up and down before placing his hand on it to see if he could sweep it away. Seeing the panel turn back into the particles that formed it, Arius was delighted to see how easy it was.

However, he quickly turned his attention to the unknown location on the map. Simply looking at it, he could tell that it was a collection of buildings behind wooden walls. Arius followed up his quick observations by tapping on the map once again over the unknown location. Like before, a whole menu began to materialize, revealing information on the location.

He read over the information, discovering that the location was a place called Alazyra Village, that it had a population of just under 400 people, and it had a pure racial makeup of 100% Humans.

"I guess… that's where I'm going?" Arius spoke to himself questioningly as he looked over the map. Though it appeared to cover an absolutely enormous area of space, Alazyra Village seemed to be the only area of civilization on, or at least identified on, his map. As he began to walk toward the village, the map seemed to keep getting in his way. He placed one hand on the upper right corner of the map, and the other on the lower left corner. He gently brought his hands together, and, to his delight, the map began to shrink down. Once he had it down to a manageable size, he placed his left hand over it and dragged it slightly off to the side so that it would no longer obstruct his view.

As he walked in the direction of the village, he found himself giddy with excitement. He didn't know what was happening, and he didn't really care. If it was a dream, he was going to make the best of it while he could. If he was dead, and this was his new reality, he was certainly going to have a long time to figure out his strange new abilities.

While walking, Arius sporadically tested his powers on the surrounding flora. He crushed and tore apart trees, uprooted shrubs, blasted the ground, and continued to test what his powers were capable of. He walked on for a number of hours in the same fashion as he continued to use his abilities at random during his long walk.

His walk was soon to come to an end however, when he spotted an unknown man laying silently in a small clearing in thick forest. The man was wearing a very elegant set of white and golden clothing that closely resembled military clothing, or possibly an aristocrats attire. Arius looked on far afar, not knowing who he was. In his own irrational fears, Arius spoke softly, his intent clear.

"Die."
