Two

Time has always been kind to her, feels good to be a good person.

It's been a decade; the world was somehow still peaceful. And yet the fact that she always stays at his side never changed. When he told her, he'll be joining in the army, it scared her. Fearing he'll die or something that makes her breakdown thinking about it, eventually he mange to reassured her saying things that puts her at ease. Though, it's been a decade, Roderich was no longer with Elizabeth, meaning he is no longer on the way. Which also means Elizabeth, is finally free.

But she's still hoping.

"Louis!"

Claire called his younger brother who was currently on the kitchen.

"Yes!?"

"Where's your brother?! I though he went home this week?!"

Claire shout, emerging from the stairs as she looks for the said male.

"I think he went at Elizabeth; he was talking about 'annoying her' a few hours ago"

He said as Claire finally make it on the kitchen.

"Oh, I see. Thank you Louis"

She give him a quick hug before she went outside.

Claire went inside her car and drive towards Elizabeth house.

She already made up her mind yesterday morning, her told herself she'll confess no matter what, that's why she asked to meet up with him today, but it seems like he forgot about it, again.

Herr hands were sweating as she grips around staring wheel nervously. Her blue eyes looking at the streets as she was starting to have a cold foot.

Come on Claire you waited a whole decade for this, 10 years! Thinking she could always laugh it

off if he ever rejects her. He was never the type to take seriously at the first place, heck. He'll even think it was a joke from the very first place.

Soon, she pulls quietly towards Elizabeth's drive way, she was now fully aware that Gilbert is here due to the fact that his car was parked next to her.

She unbuckles her seat beat and take a deep breath. Smacking her cheeks with her hands to calm herself.

"Come on Claire there's no next time. It's now or never"

With that she opens her car and headed towards the front door.

She knocks.

And knock.

And knock.

But there's no answer.

So she reaches for the door knob.

As she was about to twist it.

She can't find a strength.

But open it up anyways.

The house was empty, no one was in the living room.... nor in the bed room... nor in the bathroom... So, she went to check on the dining room and the kitchen.

And there she finds the curtains being blown by the wind breeze that came from the open tinted sliding glass door. She walks towards it, knowing what lies behind that curtain was a tree, an old tree in the middle of Elizabeth huge backyard.

She grabs a handful cloth of the curtain somewhere in the glass door but not where it was opened, knowing what she's about to witness will either break her or at least will give her relief. Knowing what could be the consequence, she gently pushes it out of the way.

There she watches the scene in wide eye.

She watch Elizabeth close her eyes, Gilbert following as she watches him gently stroking her cheek in one hand, his other hand on her hip keeping her in place as they lean against an old tree.

Claire... She wants to run. scream. cry. turn around. close her eyes. But the damage was already done, all she did was to watch, watch in horror as their lips perfectly locked together, as if a perfect puzzle piece.

She blinks, this time watching her reflection in the mirror. She watches as she went to reach out her face and wipe her tears. But then realize it was pretty useless since her tears won't stop falling.

You want to turn around and walk away right? So, she did. But not before taking a glimpse of their form, both of them was panting, forehead resting on other. For a moment, she regrets glancing at them.

It was a miracle that she manages to drag herself out of the house, making sure not to create a sound that would reach them. She gently closes the door behind her.

This feeling was strange, even though she was crying, trying to hold back a sob, heart hammering on her chest, she manages to sneak inside her car, it was as if her body was on autopilot.

She starts her car, self-knowing she need to get out of here as soon as possible. So, she did, she pull out of the drive way. Quietly leaving the place, as she looks at the rare mirror.

But her heart stop as she saw a picture of herself and Gilbert. Trying to catch her breath, she pulls out of the road, feeling like she was about to breakdown and she's not some dumb shit that was about to continue driving without a proper mindset that might cause some accident. She pulls out of the road, parking at the side way.

As she went to reach the picture, it falls off. She watches it land on its front, due to her blurry tearful eyes, she let out a sob as she finally manages to pick it up, there's something at the back. A note, left by.... her, of course.

She ends up doing an ugly chuckle.

At the back of the picture was her note.

"I'm completely contented at this moment"

She read it out loud before laughing at herself, realizing something.

"Oh right"

Holding back another sob, heart squeezing painfully.

"I was contented"

She continue, letting the picture fall out of her hand.

"Because I never stood a chance."
