Not Alone Anymore

As we ate I could only think about the keys. Were they real?

"Sky!" Kate almost shouted.

"Huh? What?" I only managed to get out before Kate continued chatting again.

"So for the next dance, should we plan a holiday theme or a theme from a goal that was reached?" Kate asked excitedly.

"Well-" "I really wanna do a holiday theme, like- um… I don't know. But I wanna do a holiday theme" she said almost leaving no space between her words.

"Well what holidays are during September? It's still August so you've got some time." I said. "If we can't think of any holidays we can do something for a fundraiser."

"A fundraiser sounds fun, it can be for nature! Maybe an animal going extinct or to help save an environment or-"

"WELL, does it have to be a dance?" John interrupted, "I mean, I know we always go as a group but Kate has a boyfriend now and Sky, well…you always ditch the dance halfway to go hideout somewhere in school." John's voice got quiet as he came towards the end of his sentence.

"Oh, well for the fundraiser it could be a fall festival that spreads awareness of the damage being done to animals and their habitats." Kate said softly, "But we're still going to do a dance. I'm not sure what the theme will be though."

"You have us to help with this, and I'm sorry for wandering off halfway through events and leaving you guys." I say, my head down. "I'll try not to leave this time."

John hugs me and Kate gets up and hugs me from behind. "No worries," John says.

"We know how you get and we understand you need time alone from all the people." Kate says, "Just don't go around thinking you're alone, got that?"

I nod, "I'm not alone anymore, I have you guys."
