11 Close call

Kuoka walked through the woods. The morning had good weather, the breeze was calm, the green trees swayed left to right.

"It's so hot..." The sun started turning it's lever to the right. "There goes my 'good day' can't at least one of these small excursions, NOT have something go wrong..." Kuoka heard a loud crunch, and a dark armored figure, stood infront of ruins.

'Don't go any further! It's him.' Regalia seemed worried, stressed, and tired. 'I've been trying to avoid him for a while now. I did everything in my power, but she's still, much too powerful for me.'

"What do you mean? How is she more powerful than you?" Kuoka hid behind a tree, peeking his head around a corner he whispered. "They're gone, let's go see what they were looking at."

'Be careful.'

Kuoka slowly approached the ruins. The remains of a hut were mostly all that was there. But a campfire, stood firmly in the center of 2 logs. "It's still warm... wait, is this?" Kuoka frantically picked up a piece of paper from the ground. He flattened it on a tree, and used his finger to trace the words.

'Rebellion in Regalia!'

'Big groups of mercenaries and townspeople have started rebelling against Regalia, and it's oppressive ruler, Kuoka.'

"Looks like a golden opportunity to me. Do we still have to go to that bandit base? Wouldn't joining the rebels be an easier way to topple Regalia? Wait... he named this country, Regalia?"

Kuoka quickly stood and prepared his sword, when a scream came from nearby. He heard a loud slam, followed by several other small thuds on the ground. 'Over there!' A bright yellow circle orbited around the center of Kuoka's eyesight.

"Are you kidding?! You know what, fine." Kuoka prepared for death, and quickly ran towards the commotion. By the time he'd arrived, everything was already settled. There was a body, with it's spine snapped in two. Laying on the ground.

A body, seemingly slammed into a tree, with it's face torn off. A cave, with light illuminating the bottom. A body sat, hunched over a rock.

Kuoka tried to walk over to the bodies; but a loud thud came from above. He nearly screamed, and only managing not to, by covering his mouth instantly. 'He's above you! Don't move!'

"It's quite a hot day isn't it. A good day I would say."

Sweat slowly rolled down Kuoka's face, as he stared at the figure above him. "Oh... there you are!" He panicked when he heard these words, and started running; but the god of fortune seemed to suddenly take an interest in him. The figure had already leapt into the distance.

Kuoka loudly sighed, "that was... Ugh. I feel light-headed." He placed his forehead onto the trunk of a tree, loudly sighing again. 'At least you weren't caught, right?'

He turned around. Kuoka sat on the ground, putting his back against the tree. "I guess... let's go check out those bod-" A scream came from far away, and a whistle started nearing his location. "SHOOT! HIDE." Kuoka was already in the middle of the gruesome incident, he was knelt over the body, closest to where the scream came from. The one which was slammed into a tree.

He swiftly jumped into the forest. But accidentally made a small amount of dust, fly into the air. 'Stay quiet! Don't move!' He hid behind another tree, as the figure whistled while walking by, he didn't seem to notice the dust, as the wind started blowing harder. Carrying it away.

Soon the whistles grew far enough to be inaudible. Kuoka slowly stepped out from behind the tree, "My head... how much more of this do I need to go through."

'Don't be demotivated! Things will definitely get better! All you need to do is, kill that bandit leader, get his map, go on a some-what small but extremely dangerous journey, then join up with the rebels, and kill that other Kuoka!'

"Uh... yeah, you need to work on your motivation skills. How many times have you done this already? Did nobody teach you a lesson on humans?"

'Out of all the humans I've assisted, you're the only one that's made it this far, congratulations!'

"So you have no experience with most of what were doing right now?"

'Yes! Oh, that's not a good thing, is it?'

"Great." Kuoka scratched his head, he knelt over the broken body. It carried a map of the area. "This appears to be their leader, quite an unfortunate fate."

'This was going to be my backup plan, if you turned out to be entirely evil.'

"Huh? What backup plan are you talking about. This guy? But he died instantly."

'His skills would never be able to stand up to yours in an one on one fight. But if he were the one leading the rebellion, then he might have had a chance!'

"A-are you angry? I can see your face..." Kuoka stared in awe, a floating face, head, body. It wasn't physically there; but he could see it clearly.

'What?'

"Never mind, I got something useful, this map of the area should be good for pinpointing the exact location of the bandit boss's camp."

'Hey! What did you say just now!'

"You're supposed to be assisting me right? Then get on with it already, I don't know how to use maps."

'I'll let you off for now, but you better tell me later!'

The voice started explaining to Kuoka, about where the bandits camp should be. "This is quite an open area, sneaking up on them is going to be tough. We need to know if they have any scouts around the camp as well as, watchtowers.

Later that night, Kuoka used the camp remains that he had found earlier. He took out a small book, only the size of his hand, as well as a pen. 'Where did you get these?' Kuoka patted his green coat. "From the bodies."

'I didn't see it, somehow.'

"Your fault then."

He tested the feather pen for ink, and started writing.

'This voice in my head, it's strangely beautiful. A gentle voice, able to calm anybody instantly. An eye-catching ahoge, hunched over the top of her head. Two side bangs, drooped from the top of her head, to the bottom of her jaw. She also had side-swept bangs going both right and left. A large, flat cluster of hair stood at the front, slightly crooked. Long white hair fell behind her back, down to her thighs.'

'Though small, she had dark circles under her big green eyes, I didn't think voices needed sleep, or rest. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, not considering the fact that she's going to get me killed one day. Though, she does also have a pleasant demeanor.'

'She wore a brown fluffy jacket. Is she cold? I thought to myself, whatever dimension she was in, it most likely didn't feel comfortable.'

"What do you think of this? It's for a character in a novel that I might feel like writing. Quite good isn't it?"

'Uh... yes, I suppose it is an accurate description. Hey! My room is exactly the way I want it to be alright?! So what if it's too cold, and that I have to give myself a warm jacket to stay cool!'

"Yeah, yeah. Just don't pout too much, it might become a habit."
