Chapter 7: To the heavens

Back on the world of Lamantail, Korrin sits up high over watching the village.

"I wonder what the elder is doing". he says to himself

He begins to descend to the village and lands at the front gate.

"Korrin! Korrin"!

Three kids approach Korrin in amazement.

"Can you teach us how to fly"? they ask.

As he smiles he says.

"Of course, but you have to come of age and pass the trial". he replied.

As their eyes widen and brighten, they smile and nod and began to run back into the village. Korrin continues towards the elders house. As he progressed, the villagers began to greet him.

"Good afternoon, Korrin".

"It feels good to be the guardian". he thinks to hisself proudly.

As he reach the elders house he knocks on the door.

"Elder! Elder"! he calls out. "Where are you"?

It opens up in a welcoming gesture. As he enters the home he notice the elders cane on the ground.

"Hmm... he never leaves his cane". he says.

Just then, a shadow emerges from behind him.

"Hmph. You have to try harder than that to ambush me. I could see this trap from a mile away".

As he stands to turn around and face the shadow, he's shocked to see it not be the elder.

"Who are you"? he asked. "Where's the elder"?

Silence..

"I won't ask again"! he threatened.

... still silence

"Fine! I guess I'll have to tear the answer from your flesh"! he said revealing his claws.

He dashes towards the demon grabbing and ripping skin from its chest.

"Growr"! the demon screamed in pain.

"Where is he? Where"? he asks while punching and clawing the demon.

Several minutes go by and he stands up, with heavy breathing. Just then, the door swings open revealing the three kids.

"Korrin"! the shouted. "What have you done"?

As Korrin looked back at the demon corpse, it revealed to be the elder.

"Wha"? he said in shock. "What the? This was a demon"!

The village elder laid there motionless and bloody. The kids scream and run out from the home alerting some nearby villagers.

"I have to get out of here"! Korrin said.

He grabs the now dead elders cane and proceeds to flee out the window, but before he does, he ls back at the body one last time.

"Goodbye.... father".

With that he leaps and flies away. Later on that night, Korrin was laying down atop of his lookout when all of a sudden he sees a bright orange glow from the village.

"Hmm...What is that"? he asked

He stands up and flies back to the village. As he gets closer it starts to become clear, that bright glow was a fire!

"No"! He shouted.

Korrin lands at the front gate in awe. Just then, three figures emerge out the fire. It was the three kids, but they're face looked distorted.

"Finally! We burned this putrid village to the ground". The twisted voice says. "It took forever, being put on this assignment but, CLOS will be pleased".

"CLOS"? Korrin said silently.

"Let's head back now. We're done here". With that, they disappear as fast as they arrived.

Korrin then comes out from his hiding spot.

"CLOS! You will pay for this! I swear it". He vowed grasping the cane firmly in his hand. With tears in his heart and rage in his eyes, he leaves the village. Just then, the cane began to vibrate giving off a blueish glow. Korrin looks at the glow which became a beacon. He covers his face from the light and then vanish. Teleported to a strange place. It was different from his home world with technology that seems to advance his. Confused and still grasping the cane, he begins to wonder around looking at his surroundings. He then came across a strange looking boulder which began shifting as if something was coming. Warily, he prepares to attack.

"Yawn! What'ss all thiss going on out here"? the voice said.

There from the boulder was a short kid that looked homeless.

"I wass getting the besst resst I've ever had, and you ruined it"!

"That dialect, I recognize it". Korrin said. "Little boy, answer me this, am I on the world of Serpentorn"?

Puzzled the little boy replied. "Naw, thiss issn't Sserpentorn. Sso you sshould jusst go away and never return"! The boy said.

"Oh, what is your name, little boy". Korrin asked.

"Me"? The little boy hesitated. "What's it to you"?

"I was curious. That's all. I'm actually looking for someone and you kind of sounded like them". Korrin said.

"Well, if it'ss a them, I can tell you. My name is Prorid, remember it well". Prorid exclaimed. "I can help you find these, ahem, them if you need my help. I'm the greatesst guide you can ever find"!

"That's fine, I'll need help with some things".

With this meeting, the two of them began their journey.
