You’re Probably Gonna Die Anyway.

The president focused intently on the TV in his office. His features were young, which reflected his immortality since he was 72 years old by now. The TV showed footage of the chaos going on in Florida.

A female reporter comments on what's going on as the video plays: "CCTV footage coming out of Miami, Florida, shows videos of people being sliced and diced by what looks like long human arms with sharp ends. The cornerstone agency sent out a report about 20 minutes ago saying a God that appeared at about 3:30 in the afternoon is responsible for the situation and that it will be dealt with as soon as possible."

Just then, a man in a black suit burst into the President's office with one of his hands in his pocket, saying, "Mr. President, you're needed in the briefing room."

"Is it about the appearance of the God?"

The man took a look at the TV and said, "Yes, Sir, there's a possibility thing might get out of hand."

After hearing that, the president focused on the news again. The military was now sharing live footage of the god using a UAV drone; although it was high in the sky, it still showed close-up footage of the God using its arms to destroy everything in its sight.

That's when a thought popped up in the President's head: "What if we were to nuke it?"

"Nuke it? You can't be serious, Mr. President."

"Would it work, though? If we nuked God, would it die?"

Well, yes, because there wouldn't be anyone to fear it anymore, and people living far from the God itself would feel a sense of safety instead of fear, so the God would disappear."

"And the negatives."

Well, for starters, the radiation would spark a new sense of fear, such as the fear of Death, Radiation, starvation, and sickness, to name a few. And having several Gods spawn is the last thing we would want, Mr. President."

"So, nuking it is off the table?"

"Definitely."

"Alright, then let's go to the briefing room." The president replied as he got up from his seat.

Back at the agency, in the control room, Noria had just gotten off the phone with the Secretary of state. After resting the phone back into its holder on the table, she turned to Luther, who was standing behind her, and said, "Since Trent isn't here, I need you to gather up all the contractors currently inside the building. I'm sending you all to the God's location to evacuate any survivors you can find."

"What about the God? Do we engage or not?"

"I want as little fighting as possible. Get in, save who you can, and get out. The Government has asked that we deal with this immediately."

"Understood." He replied, then walked off.

Noria now looked at Gordon, who was seated in the 6th row of the computer desks. He was on the phone, but she interrupted him, saying, "Gordon." He removed the phone from his ears and focused on her. "Have you gotten a hold of Trent or the others?"

"No, ma'am, not as yet."

"Keep trying." She replied as she turned to a woman in agency uniform who had just approached her saying.

"Mam, I just received a call from the captain of a carrier fleet stationed just off the coast of Florida. He wants to speak to you."

"Bring him up on the big screen."

The lady obliged and went back to her desk, and shortly after, the screen changed to show the captain sitting at his desk. Noria greeted him, "Captain, what's your position on assisting us with the killing of the Insanity God?"

"Miss Noria, it's good to see you; I'm on board. As of now, three destroyers are on standby to discharge nine unarmed ICBMs; all you have to do is give us the signal."

"That's good to hear, and what's the fatality rate?" she replied.

"We have a very low mortality rate since the main part of the creature is in the air; those on the ground should be unaffected."

"And what about the chances of the ICBMs missing the target?"

"There's a very low chance that will happen."

"Good, I'll see you in 30 minutes."

"I'll be here, and Godspeed, Noria."

"Good speed." She replied, and the call ended. Right after that, she turned to Gordon and said, "Tell Luther he and his team have 25 minutes to do the evacuation; after that, they need to pull out otherwise they'll get caught in the missile strike."

"Got it."

Meanwhile, back in the building, Amelia walked slowly down a blue hallway filled with white oak doors. She tried each one, but they were all locked. "Maybe they locked themselves inside out of fear," Amelia thought.

As she walked, she said to herself, "I wonder what happened to Trent and Lucas." She checked another door. It rattled violently as she pulled on the knob, but it was locked. "The last time I saw them, things weren't looking good. Damn it, I need to get back to the agency."

After checking three more doors, she finally found one that was open and entered it. Unexpectedly, a man who was sitting in the corner was startled by her entrance and threw a knife at her head. Amelia reacted quickly and caught it by the blade, wounding herself in the process. Then she said, "Were you going to use that on an Insane person? If so, you should know it wouldn't have worked."

"I'm sorry.' The man replied, as his fear subsided, "I was surprised when someone suddenly opened the door."

"No worries." Amelia answered as the blade fell to the ground, "What are you doing here?"

"What does it look like? I'm hiding."

"I see; are there others?"

"Yeah, I think so. Everyone locked themselves into the offices."

"And you're the only idiot to leave your door open?"

"That door doesn't lock," the man replied, then he went back into his cooped position. With his head between his legs.

Amelia scanned the room. She noticed some boxes stacked in the corner, a computer desk and a chair to her right, and most notably, a glass door. And behind the glass door was a walkway. It was like a bridge that went over to the roof of another building.

On seeing this, Amelia said, "This looks like a nice place to wait out the chaos."

"Yu think."

"So, let's have sex." She blurted out, randomly.

The man raised his head swiftly, confused by what she said: "What... now?"

"Ha ha ha ha ha, I'm joking, of course, does that door work?" she asked, pointing at the glass door.

"Yeah, but we rarely use it."

Amelia started to walk towards the door, saying, "Alright then, cya."

"Wait, what are you leaving?"

"Mhm, I've got to get back to the agency."

"Aren't you afraid of the God, and what if you get stuck outside until night when the carnivores start spawning?"

Amelia stopped and looked at him. "You should know that carnivores barely spawn in America, and isn't it strange that the highest spawn rates are in countries America isn't on good terms with, like most of Africa, China, Russia, and a few other countries."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying you really ought to relax when the sun starts to set."

"But-"

The man was interrupted by a loud crash outside the room. Amelia looked at him and said, "You can come with me if you want. You'll get food and a place to stay for the night. I think this should all be over by tomorrow."

After that, the sound of people screaming on the outside filled the room, so he got up and said, "Fine, I'll come."

They walked outside in the afternoon sun. A gust of wind blew over them, and he watched Amelia's hair flutter in the breeze. For a moment, he thought she was beautiful and became flustered.

Amelia, who didn't notice the Insanity God in the distance, said, "You know I shouldn't have told you any of that stuff."

"Why not?" he replied, walking behind her.

"Because I'll probably get in trouble if you spill the beans."

"So why'd you tell me?"

"Because I have a feeling you're going to die."

"Hu?" He stopped staring at her in confusion.

"Whenever I see you helpless citizens on the streets, I make a quick estimate of how many of you would die if a God appeared."

"Why are you talking like this all of a sudden?"

"Because it's true," she turned around and stretched out her arm at him, "But I think you're gonna survive."

Suddenly, something struck them. It wasn't the wind or rain; instead, it was something sharp. From Amelia's perspective, everything seemed to have been sliced in a slant. As if reality itself had been cut up. Strangely enough, these slices started sliding off each other, which confused her.

She didn't understand what was happening for a moment but quickly realised it and said, "Oh, yeah, I forgot about the God. I really messed up this time."

Then everything started moving quickly. The concrete below them was ripped up violently as the arms of God tore through it. The building across from them was also destroyed. Both she and the man were sent flying off the roof in pieces.

Among the many of boulders falling off the roof was Amelia's head, racing through the wind. She accepted that she wasn't going to survive the fall. But unexpectedly, her head fell into an open-top car. It Bounced off the seat and onto the ground. While the rest of her body parts were either crushed by rocks or destroyed by the fall.

After realising she fell into a car, she recalled what Trent had told her about counting her lucky stars, then she said to herself, "Looks like I have five lucky stars left. Hopefully I don't wake up insane."

As her body regenerated, revealing her naked nipples, her consciousness faded, and she blacked out.
