2 Survival

When I regained consciousness afterwards, it was night. I didn't know how long I had slept, all he knew was that I had survived. And I was damn happy about that.

When I looked around, I noticed that my hands were burning. In a panic I ran to the river and tried to extinguish the fire but when my hand touched the water, my hand began to hurt, it felt like it was burning.

As I pulled my hand out of the water, the pain became less and disappeared over time.

But not the fire. It remained. Although I was worried about the fire, I didn't dare to dip my hand in the water again because my feeling told me that it wouldn't do anything this time either.

Despite my burning hands, I wanted to set out to look for other survivors. However, I think that the night is not the right time to roam through an unknown forest. So I looked for about a dozen stones and put a circle out of them. Then I went looking for wood, the ignition should not be a problem with my new hands.

It didn't do that after only a few seconds in contact with the wood I had made a real campfire. It burned brightly and warmed me. But it couldn't burn me. Since I had those burning hands that didn't burn me or my clothes, I had apparently also developed immunity to fire.

When I sat down at the campfire,I began to think about that crazy day. First I overslept, then I ran to the bus and sat down with my friends. Then everything was clear to me:I am a mutant.

I didn't know how or why. I had no idea, but I knew I was a mutant. Although I could still think. I had no memory loss and I didn't want to attack anyone. Had the mutation only begun, would I only begin to behave like the mutants from the news in a few days?

I didn't know. But I knew I had to tryto get back into my human body.

As I continued to think about this thought, I began to get so tired that Ifell asleep.

That night I had a lot of strange dreams. In one dream, I was planning a plan for an attack on a building with other mutants. The building seemed strangely familiar to me. I couldn't remember much of the dream when I woke up,but I knew I had seen my friends.

That spurred me on.

I had to save them.

So I started to look around the forest, when I finally walked on theriverbank, I got a shock after about half an hour.

On the shore lay Mr. Müller. He was injured and in some places hisslender body bones protruded. I didn't have to check his pulse to know he was dead.

There he just lay. Death. Although I expected to find injured people, I could not have imagined that I would find my teacher dead. As soon as I recovered from this shock, thousands of thoughts buzzed through my head.

Were my friends also dead?

Who else had survived besides me?

Had anyone else survived except me?

Were the others also mutated?

I didn't know. But I knew I would find out soon. And so did I.

As I walked a few meters further, I saw a tree trunk. But he was torn out of the earth. As I approached the forest, I saw thatnot only this tree had been torn out. The trees led like a trail into the forest. Although I had no desire to follow a being with this strength, I began togo deeperintotheforest...
