4 Samuel Davis (1)

In an outing in the middle of a forest, one lone figure sat atop a large piece of stone. The moonlight shone down on him like a spotlight outlining his blonde wavy hair as he sat there staring into space with his cold azure eyes. It was like a scene out of a book, an art piece in the flesh.

"This is a world of sword and magic! Fight, fight and fight! I bid you farewell and I wish you the best of luck in this battle."

His pinkish red lips opened and let out a sigh as he ran his fingers through his hair, 'I never completed that piece of art… that final color, that final touch. I wonder if this war will give me the opportunity to finish my painting.'

He closed his eyes and reopened them, an interface appearing in front of him.

Swiping his hand across, the screen followed and vanished. A purple hex circle appeared in front of him on the ground abruptly, a pillar of light shooting into the sky.

The light faded, where the pillar of light used to be, stood a tree. Samuel hopped off the rock and walked up to the tree. Samuel started stroking the trunk of the tree, 'a tree…? Is this my partner for the war? Whatever.'

"Hohoho, don't you know it's rude to touch other people's bodies without permission?"

"Hmm?" Samuel looked around for the source of the sound. "Not there, up here."

He looked up, on the upper trunk of the tree was a kind elderly face ingrained into the tree. "You are…?"

The tree smiled, "hohoho, you are not frightened by my appearance? My name is Ojumeji the treant, at your service."

"Please to make your acquaintance as well, my name is Samuel Davis." He turned around and got back onto the rock. "Seeing that there's nothing to do for now, how about we chat a little." He smiled towards the sentient tree, his perfect white teeth showing.

Ojumeji smiled, "sure, I see no issues with getting to know the person I'll be working with. So tell me about yourself."

Samuel stretched his left arm in front of him, palm facing the sky and placed his right hand on his heart. "In life, I pursued beauty in art. I was always suppressing my urge to create, but at the age of sixteen, I could hold it in no longer. I embraced it, and I transformed. I was brought out from the hell, the torture I've suffered holding it deep down and into heaven where I could express myself freely. But alas, all good things come to an end. In my pursuit of the ultimate piece of art, I was merely missing one piece of the puzzle. Before I could find it, before I could complete that painting, I died. And here I am." He clenched his left hand and brought it down.

He looked towards Ojumeji, "and what is your story?"

Ojumeji was silent, he stayed silent for a few seconds longer before letting out a soft sigh, "I was the guardian of a small elvish village. But one day when I awoke from my daily resting session, all I heard was silence. I looked around for the villagers I protected, and they were all there, dead. The lifeless drained husks with faces contorted in horror and disbelief. I could never forget. With no place to protect, I wandered. I was taken in by another village, all was fine until it happened again. I wandered from village to village only to have the same thing happen over and over. I kept getting nightmares of it happening. Until I died in my sleep, I don't know if the cause of death was related to my nightmares or what. That is why I fight in this war. I need to know what caused my death and what caused all that destruction."

Samuel whistled, "well, good luck to both of us I guess?"

The sound of grass rustling could be heard. An arrow shot past Samuel, just barely scratching his cheek. Somebody stepped out of a nearby bush, "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

Walking into the outing, the moonlight revealed a female with blonde hair with a drawn bow ready to shoot at any time. Her long pointy ears twitch as she asked, "I asked you a question, now answer me, who are you and what are you doing here?"

Samuel smiled and waved at her, "Bonjour, madame, I was merely wandering the forest when I had gotten myself lost. I was just wondering about what I could do but then you came along, like a gift from the gods themselves. Might I be so presumptuous as to ask you to escort me to the nearest village?"

The elf blushed as she lowered her bow, "t-the nearest village is my village. This is the elven country of Sylvania located in the Sylvan forest. Humans are usually not allowed here so I'm not allowed to bring you to my village, sorry." She snuck a peek at Samuel's face to see a slight frown. She felt her heart tighten, "o-of course there are exceptions, I can try my best to convince the village elder to let you stay a night."

Samuel smiled, "thank you so much! You truly are a godsend gift." The elf felt ecstatic, she felt like she was melting after seeing that smile. "Come, follow me." She walked off in the direction she came from slowly, looking back occasionally at Samuel as he followed her.

Ojumeji smiled and uprooted himself. Wood branched out from his trunk becoming arms and the roots became his legs. He slowly followed behind the duo silently.
