5 Four

He was losing his mind and instead of his wolf helping him, it was quiet. Confused just like was. Which was baffling since it should be more clear headed than him. Why hadn't it stopped him when he'd tried to mark Celeste back in her bedroom? He had Isolde. She was his mate. The kind of bond mates shared wasn't something he could cast aside so easily. Marking someone wasn't just physical but emotional too. Their whole beings were tied together, their bodies and feelings becoming one. He could tell every time Isolde felt scared, angry, happy because they had a connection. A link that couldn't be broken so easily. Other wolves barely survived when they lost their mate. Especially after they'd had the mating ceremony. How could he or his wolf disregard that and try to mark someone else?

Caspian knew he hadn't acted that way because he'd seen her naked. Nudity wasn't something that could influence him since he'd seen other women naked and hadn't rushed to claim them. It had to be Celeste. Something about her didn't sit well with him and yet he couldn't help wanting her. Had she cast a spell on him? Surely there was a reason he was acting that way. Leaning back in his chair, he tried to come up with a valid reason. She was beautiful, he couldn't deny that. Her long white hair made her look like an angel and those eyes.... Her appearance as a child had been different. She had black hair and brown eyes. Maybe the change was what was affecting him? Or her tears?

She was the most beautiful, innocent, delicate being he'd ever met. Naturally his first instinct was to protect her. Earlier when he found Morgana trying to pick on her in the dining room, he'd wanted to jump to her defense and tell the she-wolf to back off. It was strange how he wanted to protect her and kick her out at the same time. He wouldn't be so conflicted if he didn't see her. Why the hell had he agreed to let her stay for a month? Sensing his beta outside the door, Caspian scrambled to right his sitting position.

"Alpha, care to explain what that was earlier?" Evan asked closing the door behind him.

"How many times do I have to tell you to knock before coming in?"

"Why? Are you afraid I'll catch you naked too?"

"One of these days I'll separate your head from your shoulder without blinking. Keep going Eve"

"Forgive me for not being scared and don't try to change the subject. Why did you push me out like that? As if I had no right to look at that witch?"

"Because you didn't"

"And you did?"

Caspian looked up "Did you have something important to report or are you here just to nag me?"

"I want to know why you did that. Did I miss something? Do you know who Celeste is?"

"A defenseless woman that needs shelter for a few days"

"Witches are never defenseless. How many days will she be staying here?"

"I gave her a month..." Evan whistled, cutting him off. His wolf growled at the disrespect.

"Can it big boy. I should be the one getting angry because you decided to let a witch stay here, in our pack house before talking to me"

"Would you have agreed to let her stay?"

"Absolutely not. She's..... I don't like her or the way you're possessive of her" he walked to the window that overlooked the field where the pack members trained "Now she's trying to get the other members wrapped around her finger too. Even Herrick can't take his eyes off her" at that Caspian jumped from his chair and joined Evan at the window.

"Those bastards. I'll rip their eyes off" he snarled, his lips pulled back to expose clenched teeth.

"Cas, what is wrong with you? They're just..." He was out the door leaving Evan to talk to himself. As he rushed down the stairs, he asked Saige where she was and how soon she could meet him at the field. In just seconds, Caspian was standing next to Isolde

"Touch a hair on her head and you're dead Mueller" he warned and without realizing it, released his alpha vibes, forcing them to acknowledge that he was stronger than all of them and submit to him. He didn't have to do that since they were all members of his pack and would do anything he said but his wolf was angry. Who gave them permission to touch her? The thought of them rolling on the ground with her and smearing their scent all over her only served to infuriate him further. How dare they?

"What is going on honey?" She asked in a sugary tone. He blinked, the fog in his eyes clearing. It occurred to Caspian that he'd been too focused on Celeste and hadn't even noticed Isolde.

"Nothing. I don't want them to hurt her. Remember she's not a werewolf"

"Mueller would never hurt her. Besides she was the one who asked to spar with him"

"She..." He was at a loss for words. What could he say? What reason could he come up with that wouldn't make him look like an idiot? "Baby, look at her. Does she look like she has the strength to fight with him? She was ten yesterday"

"I am not weak. I can take him and all of you on at the same time" Celeste stated with her hands on her hips. An image of him spanking her behind red for being so stubborn flitted through his mind. He tamped it down.

"Take her back inside. Better yet, take her shopping since she has no clothes"

"Who would have known you were such a sexist"

"Do not provoke..."

Isolde held his hand trying to calm him down "You're being weird Caspian. What is this about?" He looked at her then back at Celeste.

"I'm just trying to...."

"If you allow me, I will fight with her" Saige said moving to where Celeste and Mueller were. He didn't like her fighting with anyone but if he resisted any longer, he would raise suspicions.

Begrudgingly, he walked away muttering "Stubborn woman" to his surprise, he found Evan lounging on one of the chairs. Why was he still there? Caspian was confused and needed time to sort out his thoughts "Whatever it is, save it" he held up his hand when his beta tried to speak "I admit Celeste's presence is confusing me but it won't be a long term thing"

"We'll see about that" Evan replied leaving.

His prediction was somewhat wrong because after a week, Caspian was ready to throw her out for his peace of mind. She took over every part of his head making him think about her all throughout the day. Most of the time he caught himself forgetting he had a mate and fantasizing about the white haired witch. Even when he was making love to Isolde, all he saw was her. It was as if she'd bewitched him and he would ask her to lift the spell if she'd actually gone and done that. However, judging from her actions, she had no clue as to how she affected him. In fact all he got from her was scorn and attitude. She liked Isolde but every time he approached them, she'd leave, as if his presence offended her. He found it cute how there would always be a pout on her mouth before she left. Her reason for such behavior was that he treated her like a weak woman when in reality she was much stronger than he was.

He had been surprised when she beat Saige in that challenge. Aside from being strong, she also moved smoothly, taking out her opponent in the least time possible. He really wanted to have a match with her and see just how strong she was but he wouldn't let himself get that close. Caspian was afraid of what he might do. What his wolf might try to do. So he'd tried to avoid her as much as she did him. He went out on runs early in the morning and late evening in an attempt to purge her from his system. It didn't work. Instead all it did was make him more agitated that he'd set his eyes on another woman. He feared that Isolde would notice the change in him and end up being hurt. The last thing he wanted was to cause any pain to his mate. Therefore when a solution presented itself, he didn't hesitate to take it.

That particular day was a Saturday afternoon. As usual he was in his office after spending the morning with the pack members. He spent that time catching up and listening to any problems that might have arose during the week. It was something he'd introduced to the other wolves so as to make sure no one felt neglected or alone. But unlike other days where there were endless complains, the morning had been filled with praises and congratulatory messages for Kenia who'd just had a baby. The females had fawned over the beautiful pup while the males had slapped her mate Ranael on the back, congratulating him for his contribution to the werewolf community.

While everyone was busy, his eyes had found Celeste and glued themselves to her. Granted she was next to Isolde, giving him a perfect excuse to look at her without any worry, it still annoyed him that she had that kind of power over him. At some point he'd thought about the possibility of her being his mate. It was rare but there were instances where wolves had realized they had two mates. He'd allowed himself to fantasize about how it would be to have the right to keep other males away from her. Especially that moron Sid. Since the moment he'd met her, he hadn't stopped flirting or trying to make advances on her. The fact that Celeste indulged him made his blood boil. Caspian thought he wanted her to leave so she wouldn't corrupt his fellow members but the thought of her leaving didn't sit well with him. She'd said she had nowhere to go. If he let her leave would she be homeless?

That question was answered when Marmon had come knocking on his door. Late Saturday afternoon, the rogue had shown up at his gate claiming he had something or rather someone that belonged to him. Wanting to resolve the issue civilly and send the guy on his way, he'd asked who it was. As someone who'd found his mate, he knew not to get in the way of other mates. Unless the person he wanted rejected him, he or she was free to leave. So it had surprised him when Marmon had said Celeste was his.

"Excuse me?"

"I said Celeste is my mate and I want her to come with me"

"Your mate? Celeste?" Caspian asked incredulously "Your mate is a witch?"

"Is that so hard to believe?"

No it wasn't. He'd heard of wolves who had mated with witches or vampires. But for Celeste to be a rogue's mate, the leader of the rogues at that? It was impossible. Yet, when he'd called her to the border, she had rolled her eyes at Marmon, making him believe she knew the man.

"What do you want now?" She'd asked, her eyes studying him with a critical squint.

"Do you know him?" Caspian intervened praying, hoping she would say no.

"Yes"

"Of course she does" they answered simultaneously. Marmon then grabbed Celeste's hand, pulling her against his body. Caspian watched, waiting for a chance to pounce on the guy should Celeste show any discomfort. But she hadn't. After whispering in her ear, she'd nodded then turned to tell him she was leaving.

"You said you had nowhere to go" he accused feeling betrayed.

"I fought with him and out of spite, I wanted to hide from him. I'm sorry for lying"

"Even after I told you how much I hated lies you still deceived me?"

"I apologise for...."

"You have five seconds to leave. After that I won't be so civil"

Caspian watched her leave with her lover, torn between wanting to drag her back so she could explain why she'd lied and feeling relieved that she won't be there to tempt him anymore.

Can't believe he's letting her leave. Guess who'll be the happiest? Her name starts with an M and ends with an A.

Wanna guess why Celeste decided to leave with him? Are they really mates?
