Chapter 69

|3rd POV|

Everything went to shit. Gizel can only grit his teeth as the Loyalist army thwarts another of his plans. What makes matters worse, it is because of the same person. He already knows the prince and his group have a high chance of defeating the Nether Gate group he placed in Sauronix Castle, but he never thought that they would get defeated and fail to kill the Dragon Horse horde.

"No! As the queen, I can no longer tarnish my ancestor's name! You dare to use my name to negotiate with Armes! That is the last straw! I shall be the one leading the army!"

Gizel looks at his father, who takes a deep breath and nods his head. They had no choice anymore, not when the queen demanded in front of the other nobles who still followed their cause. They already lose too much support from all their failures and cannot lose the other noble support.

They have a few families who are die-hard supporters of their family, but most of them support the queen because they do not want to die when the loyalist army wins the war. They have an alibi for supporting the queen instead of them.

Gizel wants to tell them that they will not survive the war because he knows that Lucretia or Sialeeds will not let them survive after the war. The person in their shadow will execute them and blame the Godwin Family.

The same person defeated a forty-thousand army with only a couple of thousands of soldiers. The same person that Gizel cannot assassinate for some unknown reason. All the Nether Gate that gets close to him will mysteriously disappear and will never return. After the tenth Nether Gate is gone, his father orders him to stop doing that because they cannot lose more assets.

"As you wish, my queen. However, may I recommend where we will attack?"

Gizel sees the queen nod her head and says.

"You may."

"I suggest we regroup at Stormfist and attack from the west. We have already taken over Doraat and can use that fortress as our gathering point. We can also ask Armes to attack from the east. With this, we can attack the traitor from both sides."

Lymsleia holds herself back from shouting at the bald lord about how he is the one betraying his country while her brother is the one who stays loyal to his country and family. She needs to stay calm for now to make sure her plan to reunite with her brother comes to fruition.

"Very well. I shall allow this. Tell the troops to prepare to move out. Tomorrow will be the day we march."

She did not want to ask Armes for anything but needed to maintain a facade for now. She knows that her brother can take care of the Armes and will win the fight against the foreign country.

"As my queen's wishes. We will win this war."

Lymsleia mentally scoffs after hearing that word and only nods her head. She gets out of the throne and walks back to her room. Seeing their queen leave the room, the other nobles also left the throne room.

Only four people are left in the throne room: Gizel, Marscal, Childerich, and Dolph.

Marscal looks at his son and says,

"It looks like your plan failed like usual, son."

"Can you truly blame me on this, father? Forty thousand men, including magicians and heavy cavalry, are defeated by a couple of thousand people. I don't think you can fully blame me for this. We did not know the full capabilities of this Wild Card."

Marscal stays silent and only releases a sigh.

"This is why I hate Wild Cards. The prince is the first one, and now this man."

"Lord Godwin, leave this man to me. I will kill him and bring his head to you."

Childerich walks forward and looks at Marscal seriously. Marscal seriously thinks about the offer but shakes his head.

"No. He is too dangerous for us. We did not fully know his capabilities, which is very dangerous. Rather than him, I want you to join this campaign and target the prince."

"Oh?"

Childerich grins at the thought of his previous prey, who managed to run away from him. He did not like it when prey ran away from him.

"Yes. You will join the army under disguise and navigate your way in the chaotic battlefield to kill the prince."

Childerich's smile gets even bigger, and he says.

"I will make sure he did not survive, my lord."

Marscal nods his head and says.

"Good." He then looks at Dolph and says, "As for you, I need you to investigate something. This will be a very dangerous job. I need your life more than the information I want you to get. Make sure to run away if the enemy finds you out."

"What is it, Lord Marscal?"

Marscal looks at Dolph with a frown and says.

"I need you to investigate the disappearance of Sun Rune. You said that this man, Gerrald, is the one who ripped away the Twilight Rune, right? I have a feeling that he is involved in the disappearance of Sun Rune. Visit Ceras Lake Castle and search for any information regarding the Sun Rune. If there is Sun Rune in that castle, steal them. However, run away if you think you can do that. I prefer you to be alive than not."

Gizel looks at his father in shock. This is the first time he hears about the disappearance of Sun Rune.

"Father! What do you mean the Sun Rune disappears?! How can it disappear?"

Marscal ignores his son and only says.

"Someone stole it from the Rune Room." He continues to look at Dolph. "Do you understand?"

Dolph nods his head and says.

"Yes, Lord Godwin. I will ensure no one notices me and get as much information about Sun Rune's whereabouts as possible."

"Good. The two of you are dismissed. I need to talk to my son alone."

When Childerich and Dolph leave the throne room, Gizel looks at his father and says,

"Father, I need an explanation! My plan will only work if the Sun Rune is in our possession!"

"But your plan still failed even with the rune. Your plan to brainwash them already failed when those Armes get defeated."
