31 Preparation

"I wouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly Mr. Fallen Angel, we have sent you the contract with the terms and conditions. Look through it and contact us if you are interested. Thank you for giving us your time.", with that, the man cut the line. Lin Fang looked at the name coldly committing it to memory.

He stayed still as a statue for a few minutes before leaving the position. His countenance was still cold the whole way to Greenwood City. By the time he reached the outer edges, it was already 6 in the morning, the statue must have mistaken the location of Greenwood City or something because this wasn't close at all. Even his feet had started to ache from all the walking.

The whole way Lin Fang had that cold expression stuck to his face as if he was thinking about something bad. He reached a spot which was at a safe distance from the guards before logging out.

After coming out of the Gaming capsule Lin Fang went through the same process of exercising his body and practicing the breathing technique before taking a bath and sitting down to think about what had happened on the first day. From his grandfather's message to his awakening and the proposal sent by his father, a lot had happened on this day and he needed to organize his thoughts. His mind had become faster after awakening so he thought about all the happenings and came to a conclusion about the contract.

There were two possibilities, the first one was that they had contacted the owner of The Demon Wargod class and not Lin Fang specifically. He rejected this one after thinking about it for a while, there was no need for them to wait so long to contact the Demon Wargod if they knew his name and even if they were somehow delayed, they would surely do a background check. The person on the other side was not impulsive, he would surely not give such an important task as managing his children to someone incompetent.

And since the gaming capsule had already gone through the testing face to make sure that no one could reverse track an online player, he was left with only one possibility, he was being spied upon.

Lin Fang couldn't help but frown after coming to this conclusion but he saw no other possibility. They must have seen all he did in the Greenwood Forest and the breaking of the seal, otherwise, he wouldn't be strong enough and thus not useful to them. But since he broke the seal and awakened, those people must have seen him as a worthy chess piece and tried pulling him to their side to make use of him as they pleased.

His belief was further strengthened after looking at the so-called 'proposal'. Its terms were actually quite lenient allowing him a lot of free maneuvering and secrets of various locations, they also included a million yuan one-time fee for accepting the terms but there was a catch. He couldn't directly hurt Heavenly Sword and Fairy Queen, he could only attack them using his subordinates or defend himself if they attacked him. Basically, he couldn't kill or harm them personally. Looking at this term, Lin Fang couldn't help but laugh coldly in his heart.

He wouldn't have realized this before the awakening but now, he could easily see that he was being used as a stepping stone. If he could only defend and not directly attack, they could challenge him as many times as they wanted, making him a very useful practice partner. His subordinates would be of weaker strength than himself otherwise, they would refuse to follow him so unless he outclassed the two by a large margin, they wouldn't be able to kill the two of them, thus, becoming cannon fodder.

Since contracts were saved by the system he couldn't breach its terms without paying a large fine so accepting it and refusing to acknowledge it was out of the question. So, he decided that the best option for him was to not answer, he would like to see how much he was worth in their eyes, of course, he didn't plan on accepting the terms from the start.

Now that his game situation was clear, he had to check up on his real life. The first thing he did was check his bank balance. He only had enough money left to last him for roughly five months on his current diet and living condition. I have to start earning quickly, he thought in his heart.

His first priority right now was the college exams that were coming up. So, he decided to go all out. He calculated all the costs of books and other practice materials with his new and fast calculating abilities before reaching a rough figure for three different plans. One with low cost, one with medium cost and one with high cost, of course, the benefits so received were also proportional to the amount invested.

He did some calculations in his mind and unhesitatingly chose the one with the highest cost, even though it left him with only a few weeks of living expenses. There were a few reasons he came to this decision, the first being that the college exams were no joke, he wouldn't be able to pass at all if he gave it a half-assed try, second, he believed that with his class and improved skills, he should be able to earn enough to live for quite a while and third, from playing the game he realized that even though his cultivation couldn't be used in the game world, the skills learned in real life could still be used, thus by improving his skills, he was improving his gameplay and practising for the exams at the same time hitting two birds with one stone.

A few girls were practicing martial arts in the main hall but they seemed distracted as they kept glancing towards a corner where a shirtless handsome man was waving daggers with great focus as he practiced his martial skills.

This man was, of course, Lin Fang, due to the awakening, his body structure had improved making him look more devilishly handsome than before. He had paid the membership fees for 3 months in this arena to practice various weapons since he didn't have them at home. The Lightning Wind Heaven Technique taught the use of three weapons a spear, throwing daggers and twin daggers curved or straight.

Well, it didn't actually teach spear as there was only one technique and that too one in which the spear was thrown to kill an enemy who was standing far away. The fighting technique was mainly aimed at daggers with various skills and experiences of experts in far greater detail than the spear.

So, Lin Fang had been practicing various skills in the arena for the past three days, even though his improvement was not as fast as the first day, his skills were still improving by leaps and bounds. He was no more the same Lin Fang of three days ago who had the air of innocence. Various experiences like learning about his past and awakening had helped him grow into a better, stronger and scheming man.

When he reached his home, he found the books he had ordered laying at the door. He went and took a shower before coming back and started to go through those books. Lin Fang felt pain in his heart when he looked at the price of these books, it's alright, all for my future, he tried to smile and console himself but his face looked like he was about to cry.

He had set up a routine for himself which followed to the dot, he would practice the breathing in the morning after getting up, study in the afternoon and go to the martial arena in the evening.

Of course, Lin Fang entered the game every free second he had to play but unfortunately, he wasn't making as much progress in this area as he was in the other three. Since he was a demon, he couldn't enter the city through the front gate. To enter, he needed to find a very specific location. It took him over four days to locate the place.

After thinking about what he was about to do, he couldn't help but swallow his saliva. I can do it he told himself but his legs were shaking as he cursed the game developers for coming up with such an entrance for him.
