58 Lonely Feather

Lin Fang didn't have any problem watching grown men die, in fact, he wouldn't even blink when he killed them, in the game, of course, but he always had a soft spot for kids. Maybe it was because he never had any parents to watch over him when he was younger or maybe it was something else it, didn't matter anyway, he wanted to save these kids and save he would, though he knew these kids were NPC's whom he had come to help, he had forgotten his identity as a demon leading to this situation, this player was treating him like a monster.

"Listen, get out of this place now or we all die.", he shouted trying to negotiate with this girl, he was starting to suffocate and needed fresh air to breathe.

{10 HP decreased due to suffocation}

Lin Fang's health also started falling as his senses started to dim. This was not a good sign. The girl also seemed to realize that this demon was behaving weirdly by saving them. As a demon, he shouldn't care about human lives but here he was, holding up the fallen roof as he gave them a chance to escape, this didn't fit right with her image of demons in her heart. Since the start of the game she had gone on a few dungeon raids and seen a few demons with bodies similar to humans but she had an easy time differentiating them from other humans because their behavior and aura was completely wicked.

Not everyone could recognize the Demon Wargod after a short while like Heavenly Dagger and Flame Princess, but this didn't stop Lonely Feather from wondering who this demon with a covered face was. Anyway, she pushed all these thoughts to the back of her mind and quickly carried the youngest kid in her arms as she made picked up the others with her left hand pushing them outside the enclosure. She handed the youngest kid to the five-year-old boy and said, "Move, I will follow you." The priority right now was to save these kids, not this demon's identity.

Lin Fang, "..."

This girl had completely ignored his existence. I was the one who rescued you remember, he thought in his heart but he didn't say these words out loud. The moment Lonely Feather came out from below, he immediately let go of the wooden beam and started shaking his burning hands trying to put out the fire as the duo moved behind the kids, Lin Fang in front and Lonely Feather behind him. The girl looked at his silly actions as a slight arc spread across her lips. After shaking is hands for a little while, Lin Fang realized that his actions were a bit weird as he stopped, his body a bit stiff.

Lonely Feather stopped smiling as she realized that this guy might be a possible threat to them and the kids as her expression grew vigilant again. She crossed him and the kids to stand in front of the kids to block any fire or falling debris that might injure them.

As the small group moved towards the front exit, the roof above them started to shake, before any of them except Lin Fang could react, the burning roof was already falling down on them.

Lin Fang had thrown two kids out of the crash site before the roof could fall, since Lonely Feather and another kid had made it across, they weren't anywhere near the falling roof. As Lin Fang didn't have the time to throw the last one out, he could only use his body to protect him from the fire and debris. He jumped over the kid, using his back to take on the burning roof.

The moment the debris hit him he felt immense pain on his back as a notification rang.

{Player Mortally Wounded, all stats -3

Injured by burn, decrease in 10 HP every second}

Injuries in the game were divided into five ranks, lightly injured was losing more than 10% of the HP, moderately injured was losing more than 30%, Heavily Injured was losing more than 50% and Mortally Wounded was losing more than 80% of the health points. Each stage had a penalty on stats according to the injuries of a person.

Since Lin Fang had a strong class and was a Level 3 the falling roof didn't kill him but it did leave him mortally wounded, his back was injured by burn leading to the burn effect. This was going to be troublesome, he thought. He was already finding it hard to breathe and the injuries further made things worst. His eyes started to dim as he felt himself losing consciousness.

"Hey! Monster, don't die on me.", this was the last thing he heard before he went under. Dammit, who was calling him a monster? Before he fainted, he also saw the teary eyes below him, he wanted to comfort the kid under him that everything was going to be alright but he didn't get the chance as he lost consciousness.

One hour later...

Lin Fang woke up to a terrible pain in his body, he tried to move his hand and rub his eyes when he realized that he couldn't move it, in fact, he couldn't move any of his body parts as he was tied to a chair. As he was trying to remember who rescued him, a voice broke his thought process.

"Awake sleepy head.", Lin Fang looked in the direction of the voice to see the girl he had rescued standing there and looking at him with a calm expression. His eyes flashed around the room quickly to see if anyone else was present, unfortunately, none of the children were there so he didn't know if that kid was still alive or not, his look allowed him to see that he was in some kind of a basement. He wondered why she had brought him here? As he was thinking about it, his eyes went to his HP bar, he was also surprised to notice that his HP was completely recovered. How did that come to happen? He was clearly mortally wounded and had the burn effect on his body, so how could his

"Where is that kid who was under me?", even though he was curious about his HP, he was still more worried about the kid who had been under him. The moment he asked this question he realized something important, the person in front of him was a girl, the moment his thoughts reached this point, his ears turned red and his mind blank.

"He is safe don't worry. But what I want to talk about right now isn't him, it's you. You see it took me quite a while to dig out your identity Mr. Demon Wargod, you seem like a nice person from what I have seen so far, thus, I have decided to leave you tied like this in case you change your mind and suddenly decide to attack us, what do you think?", Lonely Feather still hadn't noticed Lin Fang's weird behavior as she spoke, "I originally planned to kill you for exp but what you did back there impressed me so I have decided to let you live."

"Uh-Uh", Lin Fang hadn't heard a word of what she said. Only one sound came out of his mouth as his whole face turned crimson. What was she saying? he wondered. Lonely Feather seeing his red face wondered if something was wrong with him. You couldn't get sick in-game so what was his deal? Since he had fainted inside the house trying to save the kid, Lonely Feather had dragged his injured body out of there and taken him into another basement.

But she was still not sure what his intentions were, even after she found his identity as the Demon Wargod, thus, she tied him up so that she could interrogate him with ease. She didn't plan on killing him since he had helped her out but if possible, she wanted to know his intentions before leaving him tied over here. Lonely Feather didn't dare let him loose herself in case he turned on her.

As these complicated thoughts flashed through her mind, Lin Fang's heart had already taken a bath in the river bliss as a girl had started a conversation with him after a very long time and it was not for the purpose of asking him if he wanted a cup of coffee or a cup of tea. (Flame Princess was once again conveniently ignored)
