46 Heavenly Dagger Takes the Stage

The Stone of ice king was actually once kept in the treasury but when the castle was renovated, its location was changed to near the outer edges of the inner court in the castle. This wasn't actually the City Lord's fault as no one could identify what this rock was. Their ancestors had left the message that demons would surely try to steal this thing and it had to be protected, even if the City Lord had to give up his life to protect it.

But for some reason, no information on its uses or even what made the rock so special was provided making it useless and a burden. As the years passed no demons appeared who attacked the city, nor did any beast tide happen in hundreds of years. All this lead to the legend of this stone becoming a hoax. But the CIty Lord still kept it in a secure boobytrapped location just in case there was even a 1% chance that the legend was real, he even gave it a separate location with booby traps which could pin down the enemy until he arrived. Even though the defences on it were weakened, it still didn't mean that it would be easy to steal.

How did Lin Fang and Heavenly Dagger know that this area was boobytrapped? This was a game if this place wasn't boobytrapped then this quest would be too easy. Besides, wasn't it normal for treasures to be surrounded by traps.

Lin Fang went and picked up the body of the guard who had been guarding this pathway. He carried it to the gate and threw it inside the dome-like structure, the moment it hit the ground, holes opened in the white walls as tens of arrows shot towards the body and pierced him riding it full of holes.

Lin Fang wasn't surprised at this scene at all, in fact, he found it a bit too cliched, couldn't the creators come up with an original trap, why in hell did they make an arrow trap.

"I need to conduct a few more tests before I can be sure of the speed of the arrows and the pressure required to activate the trap. I also need to find out the exact location from which the arrows fly since unlike a traditional arrow trap which shoots arrows from one wall to another wall which faced each other, this one fires in a dome-like structure. After that, I need to find out how the arrows aim since they can fire in an area in which the holes don't po..."

Lin Fang started to explain how to meticulously and carefully plan every step before they should attempt to take the stone. His explanation was so detailed that Heavenly Dagger felt like he could see stars in the sky from inside the castle. He hadn't even heard some of the words before that Lin Fang said, he felt confused. Why not just go and take it, why was there a need for all this thinking?

Lin Fang actually wasn't at fault here. If he wanted to take the Stone through brute strength, he could have activated his transformation and get the stone easily but he didn't want to waste his precious ace like last time so he decided to go with brains instead of brawns.

Meanwhile, after trying to understand what Lin Fang had been explaining for a while, Heavenly Dagger felt like everything was going over his head. So, he decided that it was best to ignore his speech as he looked with excited eyes at the walls of the room inside. He had only seen this kind of traps in the movies and now, he would be able to experience it, how could he not be excited. Running from the organisation had totally been worth it, he thought.

"Wait", he interrupted Lin Fang when he realized that he was still talking about his plan after over 30 seconds.

"All this will waste too much time, just watch.", Heavenly Dagger said.

Since he entered the game, he had been waiting to let loose. When he had tried to fight back against his 'future wife', her martial true aura(Author: New ability, explained in later chapters) had been similar to his in speed except a bit stronger, thus he had been unable to catch up which allowed her to escape his moves and attack him freely making him a moving target. This had built up a lot of frustration in his heart, but now that he had a chance to finally release that frustration, how could he let Lin Fang steal his thunder, or, fry his brain with too much theory.

He walked till the front of the door and took in a deep breathe. What happened next surprised Lin Fang so much that he was shocked dumb.

The air around Heavenly Dagger changed completely as his eyes turned bright red. His body was covered in a red glow that made him look like a demon out of the abyss. His muscles budged as and his clothes stretched, it was clear to see that his body was full of energy. Lin Fang even felt like he could hear the howling of vengeful ghosts making him shiver. The reason Lin Fang was surprised was that this red glow was similar to the green glow that surrounded Flame Princess. His eyes flashed with a weird light as he once again wondered about Heavenly Dagger's background.

Heavenly Dagger was completely focused on the task ahead and once again missed the myriads of emotions on Lin Fang's face. He jumped inside with a running start as the ground behind him cracked due to his strength and speed. Lin Fang only saw an afterimage flash by him.

He was shocked to realize that he could barely even follow Heavenly Dagger's movement. This was just like what happened with Flame Princess. What was going on? How did he reach such a stage? It had to be known that Lin Fang even without his transformed state was comparable to a Level 6. This meant that even if Heavenly Dagger couldn't kill him, he could at least escape from Lin Fang if he transformed and had a one vs one duel with Heavenly Dagger. It also had to be known that Heavenly Dagger didn't have a legendary class like Lin Fang did, what would happen if they had the same starting line...

Lin Fang's eyes grew determined as he looked at Heavenly Dagger. He would ask him about what this weird glow was that so suddenly increased the strength of a person exponentially.

Meanwhile, Heavenly Dagger had begun an excellent performance. The moment he kept his first step inside, the holes on the walls appeared once again as arrows came out of them aiming for his location.

Under this state, those arrows seemed to be moving in slow motion in Heavenly Dagger's eyes. He sneered as he felt the adrenaline rush inside his body, his body was starting to click just right. He easily dodged the incoming attack by sidestepping right before they hit him. His movement was so fast that it left behind another crack on the ground similar to the one outside.

Instead of running straight for the Stone, Heavenly Dagger ran in a circle along the boundary, his every step caused more arrows to be released in towards him but he had already moved forward not allowing a single one of them to hit him. He was taking circles around the edges as arrow after arrow aimed to take his life. He didn't stop, nor did any arrow hit him. Soon the number of arrows on the ground became so much that Heavenly Dagger had to slow down his movements to dodge their sharp edges,

Lin Fang was feeling confused by his actions. Was he planning to run around like that until he fell to the ground exhausted or till the arrows finished? Was this a battle of attrition between the arrows and Heavenly Dagger?
