17 Effects of Awakening

The secretary ran up to his bosses office and knocked anxiously. After a few seconds, a voice came from within...

He opened the door in a hurry. Inside, his boss sat on his desk with an expressionless face while a smiling beauty sat across him. She had an hourglass figure that would make any man have fantasies. Her face was so beautiful that it could cause the downfall of countries. She looked like she was still in her mid-20s even though she was already in her mid-30s with bright beautiful eyes. If she had a bit more weight she would look fat and if she had a bit less weight, then she would look skinny. Thus, her figure was just perfect.

A normal man would surely not able to keep his composure in front of such a beauty but the man sitting across her didn't seem to be affected by it at all, with his facial paralysis.

"Sir, the seal on the Demon Wargod is shattering, I am afraid that..."

He didn't couldn't continue but his what he said clearly conveyed what he wanted to say. The moment he said this much, the temperature of the room seemed to fall by a few degrees as the secretary couldn't help but shiver. After what seemed like an eternity, the man spoke.

"Hmmm, send me a report of the whole incident."

He then waved his hand giving a clear sign to the secretary to leave. The man didn't need another clue as he ran out of the room as if his pants had caught fire. Both the expressionless man and the lady behaved like they didn't notice the secretaries weird behaviour as if this was something usual.

"Wonder happened with the Demon Wargod?" She asked, her voice was charming to hear and left anyone who heard it feeling comfortable. When the man looked back at the women, his eyes were filled with an emotion that was different from usual, they were full of warmth even though he didn't answer her question or say anything. The women seemed to accustomed to this behaviour of his as she didn't ask again either.

Everyone knew the importance of a class like Demon WarGod. Nearly every player of Road of God in the world had their fingers crossed in hope that they would get one of the 3 legendary classes. Of course, most people still didn't know that 2 of them were reserved and only the 3rd one went for the lucky draw. However, there was something else that only a few people knew in the company. The moment this person in front of her learned that he couldn't hoard all the 3 legend classes to himself and had to give up one of them, he immediate chose the Demon Wargod.

It wasn't because the Demon Wargod was weaker than the other 2 classes. In fact, it was the complete opposite. He came to this decision because it was too strong.

With the appearance of the players in the world of Road of God, it was clear as day that the demons would lose without any suspense. So to maintain the balance the demon Wargod was given terrifying abilities which allowed it to fight 2vs1 against the other 2 classes if they were on a similar level and still come out victorious with ease. At least, this was the reason that was told to the whole world.

Originally he planned to give it to a trusted aide of his who would lead the Demons and make sure that his children stayed together instead of fighting each other. Yes, the above-given reason was total bullish*t. He wanted to make sure that someone would watch over his kids and help them get over there problems by creating trouble for them in a way that the 2 could deal with it together but not separately.

But sometimes, things don't go as you usually plan. With the pressure from all sides, he had to let go of one of the legendary classes. He decided on letting the Demon Wargod go to maintain the balance between his 2 kids so that none of them receives an advantage over the other.

But he wasn't going to make it easy for the person who got this class. He secretly got in touch with the character design staff to make them do some editing to the Demon Wargod class. Since the game was about to be launched when this happened, they didn't have much time to edit the class. So they could only remove all the tutorials which came with the class, seal its 2 strongest abilities, and make it's overall stats a bit weaker.

Removing the tutorial may seem like the least harmful but had the most far-reaching effects, as the player who got this class wouldn't be able to learn the various ways and places to earn quick exp. and level up. Removing the tutorials also did other damage like hiding certain restrictions on the Demon Wargod's abilities. By the time the player realized these various ways through experience, the player base and main quest storyline would be too far ahead to make a comeback thus safeguarding the future of his children in the game.

After a while, the secretary called to tell his boss that he could see what was happening on the television of his office. The President acknowledged him with a grunt as he switched on the television. Since he had asked his subordinates to keep a special eye on the person with the Demon Wargod class, they had recorded its every action since the start of the game. He and the women watched the whole battle from the time Lin Fang turned to leave the place to when he went through his awakening and the black shackles appeared which surrounded him.

The women couldn't help but be shocked by what she saw, even the expressionless man's body had stiffened up a bit when he saw Lin Fang's awakening. Even a girl like Flame Princess could tell that Lin Fang's awakening was special so how could these 2 old foxes not notice it.

"If the VR gear could help in increasing the intensity of the awakening then..." The women didn't continue but the man understood what she wanted to say. This whole situation had three points that they needed to focus on, first, how did Lin Fang have an awakening. It was improbable that he was in the middle of his awakening when he stood up to play the game. Second, why was the intensity so high, normally the intensity of an awakening depended upon the person who was going through it, maybe it was affected by the VR gear. They would have to run some tests to see whether this 2nd point worked or not. The third was those black shackles, the woman didn't understand what these were but the man had some inkling of what they were.

Since they didn't have enough time to delete those features from the Demon Wargod, they could only seal them away using the A.I., these shackles if what he thought was right were the personification of the seal placed on the Demon Wargod which was forced to appear due to Lin Fang's awakening.

Since people were playing this game using their mind, a lot of features were affected by the mindset of the player. During the testing face of the gear, they had noticed a very weird phenomenon. Sometimes when a player was in the middle of an intense fight and he was faced with an impossible task like moving out of the way of hundreds of rocks that were about to hit him, the rocks would move in a way that was physically impossible and miss the player completely. On further research, it was discovered that things like this only happened when the player's mind had a strong urge or desire to move the surrounding environment to favour him.

The creators named this ability Will, something which every player had. This was something that broke the laws of the VR world and was something higher than them as even the A.I. couldn't find out the reason. Thus it became one of the biggest mysteries in the game. It was one of the few things that could break the VR world system, just like high ranking martial arts could be used forcefully in the VR world, its use would have a major effect on future player rankings.

In Lin Fang's case, his awakening seemed to have affected the world around him allowing him to see the object that limited his abilities greatly. If Lin Fang was able to shatter the chains and gain the true power of the Demon Wargod then there was nothing he, as the original creator of the game, could do as the game was already online and not in his hands.

While he was explaining about the chains to the woman beside him, his secretary ran inside with a detailed report about Lin Fang's awakening. The man hadn't anticipated something this highly since he created the Virtual Reality Gear.

He impatiently opened the file and read it word by word. After he finished reading it carefully, he couldn't help but feel disappointed. As it turned out VR didn't help in awakening at all. It seemed like Lin Fang's mind was affected by something when he entered the game leading to an unusual artificial awakening. This concept wasn't so hard to understand and there were many cases of it every year.

In a situation where a person went through a head injury, trauma or some experiment related to the brain, it would sometimes trigger an artificial awakening without meaning to, thus being called an unusual artificial awakening. Lin Fang seemed to have gone through something similar when he entered the game. This didn't mean that other people won't have an awakening if they entered the VR world, it's just that the chances are so low that they are negligible. To put you in perspective, it would be easier for a beggar with no knowledge to become the president of Omni Corp than for a person to awaken while entering the VR world. But this didn't mean that they wouldn't test it in more detail. He was already planning on getting some people to having some people go through an awakening in the VR world and test its results. This plan would have too much effect on the cash flows of the company for him to make this decision himself. He would have to think of a way to get the majority shareholders on his side he thought as he turned to look at Lin Fang who was still being shown on the screen.

Even he as the President of Omni Corp, couldn't help but feel envious of Lin Fang's awakening. He himself had only gone through a Half- eyed awakening which he thought was pretty good but compared to Lin Fang's it was nothing. He couldn't locate Lin Fang through his Capsule but he planned to befriend him online, a person who went through this kind of awakening would surely become someone very important in the times to come. Besides if he really was able to break those chains then he would have to be worried about the future of his children in the game.
