1 A New World

[Human History Log:]

The year 2055 Earth population has reached an all-time high and resources are starting to run thin. Tension is slowly building up among nations.

The year 2060 the program [Red Earth] was established to terraform Mars for human settlement.

The year 2080 a new drug named pill of life that doubled the human lifespan had been developed.

The year 2082 a war broke loose for the pills formula. It lasted for months until the formula got leaked to the public prompting the war to stop.

The year 2090 Earth population skyrocketed prompted the launch of the program [Earth's Space]. Selected people have been chosen to leave in giant spaceships set to orbit the earth.

The year 2095 due to the advancement of technology the program [Red Earth] became a success. 90% of the remaining human population had been scheduled for migration.

The year 2098 despite the success of [Red Earth] mankind resources continue to diminish, estimation of mankind's collapse 50 years.

The year 2099 Everyone prepares themselves for war. [ World War 3 possibility: Imminent].

The year 2100 to stop the impending war and humanity's end. Humankind has the smartest mind, set aside their differences and band together to find a solution. In their search, they accidentally find something unbelievable, a miracle, a God-given grace. They find access to a brand new world, a world filled with untold and unexplored resources, they name it [Virtual World].

My name is Emanuel, born in the year 2080 the exact year the pill of life is developed. My father is one of the pills developers. He is an idealist and a philanthropist. I don't know much about him but my brother tells me he is someone who inspires to make the world a better place. So when war broke loose because of something he helped create. He devises a plan to leak the formula to the public to stop it.

But his colleagues caught wind of this and ordered his assassination. I and my two brothers were fortunate enough to escape with our lives but he and mother weren't so lucky.

We have been on the run ever since, hopping from one place after the other fearing that one of our father's enemies might come to kill us.

According to my brother that lasted until the program [Earth's Space], now we are living peacefully in [Asgard] one of the giant spaceships orbiting the earth.

My brother always told me that what my father has done was noble but if someone asks me it was stupid. He is not a hero nor an amazing person, he was just stupid. An idiot who leaves his family to die for someone else.

Now is the year 2101 about a year after the discovery of the [Virtual World].

Information about it is still on total lockdown ever since its development and no one knows much about it except the higher-ups of society.

Everyone only knows a single thing about it, that it was humanity's last hope. No one asked questions nor cared as everyone's busy minding their own business.

But everything changed when humanity launched emergency protocol codename [Last Stand].

"Cadets Lineup!"

"Attention!"

"Sir yes! Sir!" I shouted with all my might as I tried to straighten my back. I was confused and unaware of what to do so I just copy the guys in front of me.

The whole situation is still so surreal to me. I was just cleaning dishes a while ago, trying to survive one day at a time when suddenly the whole Asgard blinked red. I tried to find my brothers but we got separated when military officers led us in a giant field filled with millions of people.

Standing in front of us millions of so-called "cadets" is a man with a yellow mustache. He has a buff body and a big scar on his face.

In his military uniform, I can vaguely see a 5-star symbolizing his rank as a five-star general. Rank only lower to the president of Asgard.

"Listen up, first of all, I would like to apologize because of dire circumstances you are all now forced into military service."

Hearing his word I can't help but be stunned. 'Military service? are we in war right now?.' I thought to myself.

I look around trying to find how others will react but to my surprise among the million of us, none panicked. There seems to be something unnatural with the general's aura that seems to be stopping us and giving us no choice but to listen.

Before I can absorb what is going on, the general continues "But make no mistake, as of today all of you are now soldiers."

"You are bound to a soldier's duty."

"I want all of you to sworn"

"Sworn to support and defend the human race against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

"To sacrifice one's life and well being for the good of the people"

"Do you all sworn?!" He asked with passion in his voice

"Sir yes sir!" All of us cannot resist and get caught in the General fashion and unknowingly shouted.

"I know all of you right now are scared and confused."

"I know what I'm asking is unreasonable. You are untrained and unfit to be a soldier. Hell, some of you might have never been into a fight before."

"But as of now we have no choice, we are at war for our very survival. If we fail, not only us but humanity will cease to exist." As I hear the general speech I realized, we might be facing the biggest battle in recorded history.

"Permission to speak sir!" As I was pondering, a cadet mustered enough courage to ask a question.

"Permission granted," The general said with a smile but his eyes show a hint of impatience clearly showing the urgency of the matter.

"Sir can we know what kind of threat we are facing and where is the battle taking place?" the cadet asked.

"It's best if you see it for yourselves as you might not believe me even if I tell you. Just take heart that the battle is taking place in the [Virtual World] where humanity's hope lays"

As everyone heard [Virtual world] the million forced cadets started to murmur and I'm no exception. [Virtual world] was humanity's biggest secret, something only known to the highest level of society, it was no mystery that everyone is confused.

"I know every one of you is confused as none of the populace is informed of anything about the [Virtual World] but I don't have the luxury of time to explain anything right now. Every second we waste here, one of our comrades on the other side dies" hearing the general grave voice the whole place went silent.

"Your mission, enter the [Virtual World], protect humanity's base and bring those bastards hell"

"All you have to do is follow orders. You don't have to do or know anything other than what your commanding officer tells you. Understood!?".

"Sir yes Sir" My heart starts beating fast, everything feels so unreal. This is a battlefield we're talking about.

There is a chance that I might not be able to see my big brother and second brother again.

"For this mission, all of you will be randomly grouped by 10 and an experienced soldier will be appointed to you as your squad leader".

"Cadets! Remember you're not alone in there, stay alive, and may God help us all. DISMISSED!" After the general finishes his speech I hurriedly try to find my brothers but several people who seem to be squad leaders stop us from moving, and then group as into 10.

"All of you listen, my name is Sergeant Rina and I'll be the officer in charge for all of you. If you follow every one of my commands all of us might survive" The one that spoke seems to be the leader of my squad. She is a beautiful girl with black hair and black eyes.

It's not an exaggeration to call her a top-class Asian beauty before the world expansion takes place where race is still a thing.

If it was any other time every man in my squad without question would try to woo her including me but this time humanity's faith is on the line and none of us have any luxury to think of anything else other than survival.

"As per the general words time is crucial and we don't have the luxury to familiarize ourselves with each other. For now, I will assign each one of you a number so remember it well." I was assigned the number 4, I still feel uneasy but I have no choice but to trust my comrade and follow Sergeant Rina if I want to survive this.

I pray to God to protect me and my brothers.

"Put your Scouters on, push the button in my command" I put on a device that seems to be something that comes out in a popular anime and stop my shaking hands.

"In my command push the button, 1,2,3 go go go. . . . . . . . . . . . " as I here Sergeant Rina said go I press the button in my scouter and suddenly my vision turns black and some sort of a transparent panel came to my view.

"Welcome to the [Virtual World]".
