6 Ch. 6 The Player and The Ogre

Deeper in the forest, Players are scarce, as the level of the monster here ranges from 6 to 10 or higher,

Players in this area are not casual players, each taking the game seriously, some even forming a party.

Speaking of party, Kai considered contacting Mirage because even if he didn't want to admit it, she was good.

But still, Kai chose not to, as he plans to farm alone for now.

'What's that.'

Kai heard a commotion not far from his location as he went to check it out and found a small crowd of six, cheering a man with blond hair, cat ears, and a tail as he was fighting against a big green monster.

[Iron Heart] (Lvl. 10)

[Demi-human(☆☆☆) ] [Magma(☆☆☆☆) ]

[Ogre - Boss Monster (Lvl. 15)]

A glint flashes through Kai's eyes just like a hunter when it finally sees its prey. He climbs a tree and gets closer to the fight by traveling from branch to branch, jumping into the trees in the area.

Like a predator, Kai waits patiently, waiting for the right time to act and harvest his prey.

Back to the fight, the Ogre charged toward Iron Heart who side-stepped, dodging the monster's attack. Simultaneously his grimoire lit up as his arms turned into a hot blazing magma.

"Molten Fist!" FieryHeary shouted as his arms turned into magma, and it shot out toward the boss monster.

Magma Magic is a very powerful magic because of its strong burn effect as it manages to cause a first-degree burn against the Ogre's thick skin.

The Ogre was enraged, upset by Iron Heart's attack the Ogre's eyes turned red and Kai felt a tingling sensation throughout his body, seemingly warning him about an upcoming danger.

Kai trusted his guts as he jumped backward, increasing the distance between him and the fight. And his 'instincts' were right as the Ogre roared, sending a powerful shockwave as the leaves rustled.

Iron Heart was taken aback by this sudden attack as he didn't manage to dodge, and the next thing he knew, he couldn't move his body.

[Ding! You've been paralyzed!]

This is the notification everyone received excluding Kai who was outside the range of the Ogre skill.

'What was that feeling?' Kai ponders as he hides behind a tree, brainstorming, he remembers one of the skills he received upon gaining the title 'The Bearer of Truth, the ability of Danger Perception.

While Kai was occupied with his thoughts, the ogre didn't waste the chance as he attacked the players watching, who were helpless as they got massacred by the enraged boss monster

"Fweet, that's some scary monster." Kai complimented the Ogre as the scene in front of him truly was breathtaking, the players' dead bodies scattered around as the Ogre stood in the middle.

The only remaining player is Iron Heart as the paralysis effect soon subsides.

"DAMN YOU MONSTER!" Iron Heart's face distorted, filled with a complex of emotions as he vowed to kill the monster in front of him.

According to the wiki in the game, death doesn't mean the end for players as they can still respawn but dying has serious consequences such as a day restriction forbidding the dead players to log in that accumulates depending on the number of deaths. Not only that players that died also lose a level per death.

This is a major setback for all players who want to be strong in the game.

Iron Heart's Grimoire is a rare kind, it is a three-leaf clover that gives him the ability to turn his body into a magma, like a certain marine dog in a messed-up world.

Because of this, Iron Heart puts up a great fight, taking three-fourths of the Ogre's health, unfortunately, the required magic expense for his Magma Magic is huge, as he soon loses mana and dies.

'A pity.' Kai thought seeing Iron Heart lying on the floor. He isn't dead yet but is close to his deathbed.

Watching the fight, Kai couldn't help but commend Iron Heart's bravery and skills, as his moves don't belong to a noobies.

'Well, it's my turn'

With Kai's average of 50 stat points per attribute, he was considerably superior compared to other players, who needed five levels just to match one of his initial stats, meaning a normal level 5 player must invest all of his points into agility to be as fast as Kai.

Plus with the additional 25 points added by gaining the title 'Bearer of Truth', the difference between normal players of the same level, and Kai with his god-blessed race, widen exponentially.

This is the unfair advantage of having a five-star race, this is also the reason why Kai chose not to use any of his points earned by leveling up, as he plans to use it when the time is right.

The Ogre was about to finish Iron Heart but Kai wouldn't allow him, after all his Magma Magic is something Kai fancy.

"Molten Fist!"

Copying the magic spell he saw earlier from Iron Heart, Kai's arms turned into magma.

Using this skill, Kai charged at the monster and punched him in the face, different from how Iron Heart used the same magic.

This is a virtual game, a game where skills and ability usage depend on the user's creativity and thinking.

The 75-strength points of Kai were enough to take down the Ogre as the monster stumbled to the ground.

To finish the monster, Kai soared into the air and landed a powerful punch to the Ogre's gut, this time, his hand, now back to normal, was coated with mana as the Ogre died not to a powerful spell, but to Kai's mighty fist.

[Ding! Congratulations to Player 'Chrollo' for beating the Boss Monster - Ogre]

[Ding! you earned 5000 Gold Coins]

[Ding! you earned King of the {Forest's Dagger (Uncommon)} ]

[Ding! you earned 2000 exp]

[Ding! You leveled up to level 11!]

Kai was surprised by the item reward but he put the matter aside as he shifted his attention to the dying Iron Heart.

"Hey, hey, answer my question okay? If you do I'll give you this" Kai slapped Iron Heart's left cheek, getting the attention of the said man as he made a deal with the dead man, in his hand holding a health potion.

Iron Heart didn't reply as Kai took that as a yes and asked,

"What's your magic?"
