8 Chapter 6: Save what has been lost

Chapter 6

Someone grabbed my hand and covered my mouth.

I was about to kick the side of this bastard and show my taekwondo moves when it talked.

"Ro! What the fuck? What are you doing here in the middle of the night! If your brother didn't told me that this was about to happen, god knows what will happen to you! Maybe Jonah will suck blood out of ya!" it was Sera. She held both of my shoulders and shook it. Hard.

"Hey. I'm fine! Ow. That hurts!" I crossed my arms and massaged both of my shoulder. She is stronger than she seems. She shook me so hard, It feels like my brain is hitting my skull back and forth.

"Hey have you seen the tent here? The one with the pretty fortune teller with white hair and--

"Yeah yeah. I've seen it all. It's just what your brother described to me. Dang! Whenever Rolly does that, it gives me the creeps. It's scary how he details it bit by bit like he was narrating a story." Sera said.

"Excuse me? Rolly?" I was so confused of what she said.

"Yeah. Remember Meg told you about Rolly's gift of vision? That's it. Rolly visioned about you coming here, Rizanna being alive, you meeting her, you with the 7 gods and goddesses, Kalfu and.. I lost some of it because he was babbling like a parrot." she said.

Bless my soul. He visioned all of it? Now I'm starting to believe this Voodoo madness. I paused for a while and gathered my thoughts. I looked at Sera and stared at the big backpack she wore then I noticed her outfit, she wore a black tshirt topped with mossy green jacket, jeggings(jeans and leggings combi), a black chuck taylors.

"Are you running away? What's with the outfit and the bag? By the way, mossy green fits you." I crossed my hands and winked at her.

"Asshole! Can't you hear what the lady said? We need to meet this 7 gods and goddesses to get your sister back! Kalfu will be left untouched after the 2nd red moon. Kalfu will be be back for a rise of another red moon and that will be the next 37 years! The rise of the 2nd red moon will be on the 8th! Now we only have 1 week left!" she said.

She's right. The woman didn't left me with exact address/places to meet this god and goddesses. We don't need to waste any time and I'm definitely not getting my sister suffer for another 37 years, she suffered enough. And she needs her family, she needs to come back home.

"So you did hear everything? What the woman said?" I asked. While we walked back to our house.

"Yeah! I even saw you looking at her boobs. You dirty goat." She looked at me with suspicious eyes.

"Forgive me okay. I was just amazed. I wish I could have those. I look banging in a two piece." I touched my boobs and felt sad. Hers is a watermelon sized while mine is um. A tangerine. A baby tangerine.

"I followed you when you followed the blito. When you stayed in your room your brother told me about all of this."

"Psst. Sera come here I need to tell you something."

"Yes. What is it?"

"Rosetta will be seeing a blito tonight. In her room. She will see it by her window and she will follow it. You. Sera follow her make sure she's okay, impure entities will be roaming around every night and you need to protect her. She's still coping and accepting all of this I don't want her to be shocked too much. I visioned that Rizanna is alive."

"Really? Wow then that is an amazing news! We need to tell the priestess right away!"

"Shush. Lower your voice. Rosetta is here for a reason. She will meet a woman tonight under a big tree. She will let Rosetta know that our sister is alive, entrapped and held captive by Kalfu."

"Kalfu? The moon god?"

"Yes. The legend said that these gods and goddesses will only reveal themselves only to those with courageous heart and worthy. They will grant wishes and favors of course with conditions."

"So how about the priestess? She's brave too. The bravest woman I had ever known."

"No. Only Rosetta will close the deal. A debt will be paid. A debt left unpaid for thousands of years now. I always thought Rosetta and Rizanna have something special and I'm right about it."

"But Ro doesn't know anything about this! She will be harmed or worse she could've been killed!"

"Yeah I know. Kalfu's been waiting for Ro since she got Rizanna now. I trust Rosetta. I believe in her. She's brave. She can do this."

"You should go with her. You can protect her."

"As much as I want to. But I won't."

"Why?"

"Now she's out in the open. Jonah will go get her for sure. I need to stop him before he can destroy your mission. The 2nd red moon will arise on the 8th. You don't have much time. You need to get to Kalfu before the sunrise of the 2nd red moon."

"We should tell the priestess about this!"

"It's probably best to keep this to ourselves for the mean time. Nana will know all about this but, soon. I'll tell her when the time is right. A priestess like her cannot meddle with the mission that Rosetta has been given to her by the gods. Never. The vision told me that only Rosetta will come and seal the deal. But of course, I will not let her go alone. She needs someone who knows all of this, knows voodoo more than anyone else. Even more than me. Someone who can protect her."

"And that would be?"

"You Sera."

"Wha-What? Me? I'm just a novitiate! I'm not powerful enough to beat the gods! I'm still learning!"

"You. Knew everything more than any person can. You witnessed the sacred rituals, the initiations, you knew everything about the herbs the ingredients used for certain spells and charms, you knew the correct enchantments, you knew the gods ad goddesses what they are,who they are, what they want and what they are capable of. You almost knew everything Sera. If there is anyone who is worthy of protecting Ro, it would be you. How long is it since you're initiated?"

"12 years. I have 2 years apprenticeship. That's true. But what if I fail to protect Ro?"

"You will not. Now go, she jumped from the window now and she's following the blito."

"Wow. I don't know what to say." I was amazed by Sera. Couldn't she possibly get any cooler?

"Yep. And if anyone can save your ass, that's me. So if you insisted to go alone, then die 'coz I don't mind. But if you want to bring back your sister home safely all in one piece, then you'll need me." Now I take it back. She sounded like a bitch now. She is totally bragging of her witchy skills.

"Should we bring a cauldron? Or do we have to ride on broomsticks wearing pointy hats?" of course I returned the sarcasm back to her. Then she rolled her eyes at me.

"Now dress-up, grab stuffs that are essential. Be careful not to wake the priestess or we're doomed." Sera said as she went inside the shop to get more "ammunition".

I slowly climbed my way upstairs being careful not to make a sound. I opened the door of my room slowly and closing it back too, slowly.

I took my backpack and put in my pepper spray, brass knuckles, a few clothes. I took out a few post-it notes and wrote there what I saved on my phone. The riddles, clues and what-nots the woman gave. I took out my rolled bandage and rolled it on my hand and wore my fingerless gloves then tied my hair to a tight bun.

I saw Sera opening the door.

"Where's the backpack?" I noticed her wearing a belt bag and a few straps of more like pockets around her thighs and on her shoulder.

She threw a drawstring bag at me and it's quite heavy.

"Put it in your bag." she said while sitting down on my bed.

"What the f? what's in this thing?" I asked while putting it inside my backpack.

"What ARE. Is the question. Some ammunition." She said while looking at my chandelier. Touching the fireflies.

"You brought bombs and guns? And you let me carry it? Are you fuckin' insane? Don't touch my fireflies!" I almost dropped my bag. This is it. We haven't started the mission and now we're dying. GREAT!

"You sick goat! Of course not! Some "witchy" stuff for protective spells, charms and etc. Geez." Well that was a relief. I peeked inside the bag and there are packets of dried herbs, some candles there are also plastic bottles filled with some liquid stuff and many more.

She slumped hard to my bed then I heard my phone's vibrating.

"Where is it? Hey have you seen my phone?" I asked Sera while searching the bag.

"You dirty dirty goat. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" she laughed like crazy and ohmygod! She held my vibrator on her hand and I quickly grabbed it and turned it off. Shit. Now that's embarassing. I thought I'm having a phone call, but it was the vibrator. It must've turned on when she slumped hard on the bed.

"Shut up Sera. Don't tell me you've not "experienced it". I said while air quoting the "experienced it".

"Well let me tell you honestly. I haven't. Once you dedicate yourself to being a novitiate you cannot marry or engage unto a relationship. I do feel horny, part of the ovulation process hormones. But I don't do it to THAT extend. But it do feels good on body aches, let me borrow it sometimes. My neck felt good. Does it supposed to feel, therapeutic? " She was about to laugh but I threw my pillow on her.

"Shush. Nana might wake up. So you're still a virgin then. Um. Congratulations?" Shit. That's awkward. I don't know how to react to it. So I opened my other luggage took out some clothes and right on the bottom, I took out my steel batons. I wore the X-strap and put the batons on my back. She was about to open her mouth and say something but I cut her off.

"Come Sera. Now we're ready." I said.

"Oooh. That's neat. So where to?" she asked.

"Wait let me see." I took out one of my post-its and saw the number one clue.

Well that's it.

"What are we looking for? A place or a person?" Sera scratched her head.

"Well it says here that we seek a man. On where two paths bond? Two paths bonds? Something like a pathway or a road. An intersection?" I looked at Sera.

"Crossroads! With a hat walks in tree. Mutt be your guide. That's it Ro! I know where we go!" Thank god, I brought Sera with me.

"Where?" I asked.

"A god who guards the crossroads, an intermediary between man and the spirit world. No one can enter and exit the spirit world without passing him. Papa Legba! He's a protector to children. You can see him as an old man in a straw hat wears tattered clothing walks with a crane and followed by a dog! That's why it said mutt be your guide!" thank goodness for Sera! I really suck at riddles.

"So now we know where and who. So where exactly is this crossroad?" I asked.

"I know where. The priestess first brought me there during my 2nd year of apprenticeship. It's a bit far here. We need to ride on my motorbike. Let's go!" Wait?

"You have a motorbike?" I asked in disbelief.

"Of course. It's not 900 B.C. Ro!" Now that would be very useful.

We headed down to the garage and she opened the door from the back.

"Now that is a sick motorbike. I am staring on a bad ass motorbike. I am not familiar with the models of motorbikes but this is a huge motorbike. With a built in navigator! What! When she started the engine I almost dropped my jaw.

Where on earth can you buy a motorbike without the loud uproar! Her bike is stealthy! I didn't hear any engine noise and now that the moonlight shone her bike, I witnessed its majestic color. I thought it was just plain black. But hold your breath. MATTE BLACK! THE SUEDE FINISH YOU USUALLY USE ON YOUR FINGERNAILS!

"You're a bad ass bitch. Wow! Where did you get this!" I looked at her motorbike's handle and it has a gold lining to it that gives the pop of color. Bad ass at the same time elegant. Damn!

"Says the dirty goat who loves vibrators. I bought it on a garage sale. Do some fix-ins, improvements and upgrades. I painted it myself, installed the navigator myself. Bought that navigator from the junk shop. The navigator is from a damaged Tesla coming from a car accident, they scrap it and got the navigator at a reasonable price. I'll tell you later. Hop in we need to save another Rosetta but much kinder". She wore her helmet and gave one to me.

We rode the bike, Sera is driving while I'm on her back. I held the hand grip from the back and we flew.
